New Featured Artist: Darkney

by pishifat & Ephemeral

Step into the light with our newest Featured Artist, Darkney!

Here at osu!, we're lucky to be the beneficiary of many different types of musical material from a variety of artists. First we had image material, and now courtesy of Darkney, we've even moved into Cloud Material as well.

Those familiar with the vintage 2018 Monstrata classic linked above will be excited to find out that we've snagged 13 new tracks from the talented German producer responsible for their creation. If you're a fan of his uniquely atmospheric spin on future bass x EDM (and we think you will be), this is a grand day indeed.

If you just can't quite put your finger on what the hype is all about, don't worry, Bubbleman has quite literally done it for you in the video below during an IRL performance at COE2022, so watch along and see for yourself:

Cloud Material

Check out the beatmap featured in the showcase video above made by Monstrata!

Rush Hour

Tonight

Warning: track may contain unexpected gnome-oriented tomfoolery.

If you're wondering how you too can get involved and start making things for players to quite literally put their hands on, good news — everything you've just listened to above plus a bunch more can be found over at Darkney's Featured Artist listing pre-timed and waiting expectantly for you. You're not going to keep them waiting, are you?

Make sure to follow along with all the releases and other important osu!-related news by following @osugame on Twitter.

We'll see you again on Wednesday!

Certainly remember this name and I'm quite happy to see that he has reached this far to become a FA here.

Makes one wonder if this game will eventually go the route of being completely legal, subscription based, and only contain maps from featured artists. Hopefully not.

This has been explicitedly denied by ppy since the beginning of the program, of course they will always prioritize promoting beatmaps for their official artists from now on, but that's it, osu! will always be free-to-play. You have nothing to worry about, just enjoy the new Featured Artists.

you def need to check this out. since cloud material, there have been years and his skill has improved to a whole new level that i won't be surprised if anyone tells me he is the ghost producer behind any electronic hits
