The horror begins again with 150 wickedly talented submissions now up for voting, do your part and help us figure out the best of the best!

It has happened again.

Something about Halloween just gets the artists in the osu! community raring to go, and the rest of us are now left with the most terrifying task of all: choosing only 20 entries to make the final cut!

This won't be easy, but then again, when is it ever? If this is your first time voting in one of our fanart contests, welcome to the madness.

To kick the voting off in appropriately Halloween splendour, here's a brief clip of some of the entries in the running set to the tunes of that's some spooky stuff by meganeko, one of our absurdly talented Featured Artists:

The votes will only stay open for 7 days before reanimated ghouls will drag it down into the dirt and out of sight forever (at least until we unveil the finalists anyway), so make sure you get in quick!

As usual, a choice selection of the top voted entries (anywhere from 15 to 20 depending on how the voting goes) will make it into the game as our Halloween seasonal backgrounds and award their artists with a neat bit of osu!supporter, and even profile badges for the top three to boot.

I'm surprised there hasn't been much spamming of time stamps lol. Did I miss something? Has everybody just stopped lol?? Or is it since I've only entered the art contest twice before this???? T-T

Same. I thought that maybe they'd set up a filter to remove any posts that contain only a time stamp, but I tried it myself and that doesn't seem to be the case (unless the filter takes a few minutes to activate).

what is number 86? The order is different for everyone. You can find the title by opening the image in a new tab I'm pretty sure

my entry showed on the video but not on the list of votings help-
its 45 seconds into the video with the pink hair osu mascot being some devil and the green hair osu mascot being a witch.
tell if Im wrong can you can see it just in case

I saw my entry in the featured video but not in the voting list, is this intentional?

edit: just in case other people can see it, it's the black/white/red one that shows up 34-35 seconds into the video.

This isnt the first time you've copied a picture and replaced the characters. You can call it "intentional referencing" but not if you've done it in so many other drawings

It's because you heavily referenced TWO artworks; one from the Vampire MV and the other from the KING MV. What's worse is that I noticed in a split second. This is considered art theft or tracing since the only thing you changed were the characters... The rules also state that it's not allowed. The overall color palette is almost identical to KING and Pippi's outfit is also from KING. Both their poses and expressions are the same. What I find sad about this is that the work was nicely done. I do understand that these two songs sparked an upbringing of new osu! maps of the song covers. But I believe it could've been done in a lightly referenced way that would've passed off as inspiration

yeah that was the point, I was referencing those two songs, and I did want people to recognize them since they're so popular. But yeah, I also see how heavily leaning into them wasn't good, especially for an art contest. It's perfectly understandable, so I'm not too disappointed. I've learned from this, so I hope you'll look forward to my entries in the future.

You should've been using descriptive title of the artwork to locate artworks. osu!'s sorting is random.

A reminder to all fellow gamers that in the spirit of Halloween we must look past the entries where pippi has large chest and instead select entries where pippi is wearing a hot leather outfit.
