Is it possible to make a decent map with mainly square patterns? The finalists of the latest Monthly Beatmapping Contest seem to think so. Check the entries out yourself and see who wears the crown!
Still don't know about the Monthly Beatmapping Contest (MBC)? The MBC wiki article covers just about everything. For those who'd rather not spend their time reading, it's a beatmapping contest that's hosted every month. You're welcome.
June's contest covered osu! and osu!catch, but only osu!'s results are being announced for now!

Proving their competence with back to back wins in May and June, kuyusu impressed judges with their submission of REDOUT feat. Torika! Pairing unconventional square-like slidershapes with object groupings that make for the perfectly fit the square pattern theme, kuyusu's design choices are something you undoubtedly need to experience first-hand.
Judges weren't the only ones impressed though — 10 of the 12 screeners put this entry in their top 5, just barely scraping by as the highest voted entry this month.
ScubDomino put full investment into this contest's theme with their entry of Tanchiky vs. Hagane - Legacy 8086. Sporting patterns so square-centric that it's hard to even define them as rankable, this entry is a treat for anyone looking for something out of the box.
Congratulations again to everyone who participated in June's MBC! As a reminder, results for recent MBCs in other modes will be announced some time soon (and send pishifat a message if you want to help out with those!).
The MBC involves a lot of people, so don't forget to spread thanks to Akito, Niva, DTM9 Nowa, Chugger, CallieCube, Nozhomi, Cheri, Uberzolik, Mao, Agatsu, Aistre, and Strategas for screening this month's entries, as well as Nuvolina, Fisky, DeviousPanda, Pachiru, Mazzerin, Daycore, Seolv, and h3ct1c for judging this month's finalists!
We'll see you next month!
