We want your feedback on the way performance points and star rating development should proceed in the future, so read on and get involved!

In case you're not clued in, development of osu!'s scoring systems happens mostly on the osu!dev Discord, with discussions taking place both on GitHub and in the #difficulty channels for a given game mode.

In recent times, there have been conflicting opinions about what the path forward should look like. To help clear the air, we're putting out a short survey to better discover the expectations that all of you have for how things should be.

Please also note that this survey mainly involves the osu! game mode for now.

We will also be issuing a private version of this survey to a smaller audience of higher skilled players to give insight into the opinions of both top-end players and also the wider "casual" community. Please complete this survey anyway if you are a top-end player, it certainly will not hurt!

In my opinion, it doesn't make sense that different maps of the same star rating and around the same length have wildly different performance point potential.
If two different beatmap difficulties are of the same star rating and length, why should they give different amounts of performance points?

Getting 99% Acc with 1 miss gives less "Performance Points" vs getting 80% Acc FC. It's just sad.

Would it be possible to view what answers I gave in the survey form after it is processed?

OD and AR doesn't affect SR, but High OD beatmap such as maps with the HR mod will give more pp even if its the same SR.

This is a rhythm game. Acc should matter more than combo.

it's ridiculous that pp system thought low acc 1-2s map worth more than high acc long map but 1 miss at middle. whether acc should be buffed or not, combo based game sucks

I think seeing more pp for a 500 combo 98 acc is better than seeing a 1k combo with 89 acc

Oh by low I meant around 94-95 accuracy and I'm pretty sure you'd get more PP for 500 combo with 98 accuracy as opposed to 1k with 89

the scaling should be fixed, but not to that degree, and it should only come after a better sr system is made that would probably bring 4k and 7k closer together anyway

Even though I understand that Osu mode must be the main target, I think OSU should add a survey that is related to mania since I'm a mania player. Thanks.

dont really get why you'd ask what rank people are, since the new changes should be made to cater to every player, whether they're rank 1 or rank 1000000. by including that question, its so easy to filter out people above or below a certain level. it just feels like an easy way of saying 'we dont care about 6fig player's opinions' ¯I_(ツ)_I¯

somebody that has spend years playing this game with 1000+ hours surely does know a little more about what would be best for the game than your average 100hour 6digit. Not saying their opinions dont matter at all but when a player is literally new to the game I dont see why his opinion should have the same weight as a pro player,3,4,5 digit with a lot of playtime.

True, but a pro player wouldn't voluntarily want any changes that make it 'harder' for them or changes the game in a significant way, even if it is initially a flaw. It would make more sense to ask by hours played instead of rank, because there are pros who have <100 days playtime, but then 6 digit players who have 100's of days of playtime. Skill =/= Knowledgeable. Neither rank or playtime work, so it would just be better if they didn't include the question :')

I agree since higher ranks would definitely have more experience and know a bit more on what they're talking about. Doesn't mean that lower ranked opinions shouldn't matter though. But ye higher ranked players can definitely be more informative

prefered the old pp system before the new rework now I just lose ranks even if I didn't even pass my top 1 local ranking play It's just really hard to gain ranks and I just keep losing ranks

I think std pp should be more towards the acc rather than the combo, just like what they did on mania & taiko.

Also as HD player, I think HD plays should be rewarded less pp, especially on high AR HD plays. Because they didn't provide as much challange as low AR HD.

Farm maps are the ones that doesn't need that much acc because of a fairly hard diff spike as long as you have combo, On the side of Harder maps accuracy is pretty much what makes it cost 300pp or 400pp but I do agree

farm maps also need acc lol. black rover ss 412 pp, 95% acc 312 pp and you say acc doesnt matter on farm maps. This is the only thing that makes farm maps farm. And this is not hard to get ss on farms because of short length and easy rhythm.

since I'm seeing a lot of comments asking for mania sr rework, in case there is one in the future, I want to make it clear that the main problem with it is that the only thing that affects sr is density, which is a terrible measure by itself and it barely correlates to difficulty (and the way the game calculates density doesn't even work properly, since for whatever reason LN's make density go up by a ton even in cases where they barely change how the map plays), we don't need a little patch like last time where all that was done was just cut pp in half and nerf sub 700k scores, we need pretty much a complete rework because not even the base the system was built upon is good

this only means that you improve slower than most of the players. there is nothing that can be done about it in terms of pp rebalance

Please fix mania star rating values. Even just multiplying the 4k star rating values by 7/4 (or using a curve) to match 7k would be enough of a change. We are fucking starving for anything please

I think adding a section to type out an elaboration could help with this survey, for example low bpm high spacing maps (160-200 bpm) maps are currently underweighted especially at higher CS's ( iMey's HR Score on Trance Dance Anarachy ) is underweighted by a ton, however at mid bpm ( Taeyaeng's Remote control DT ) they're fine or overrated.

Another problem is high spacing streams ARE overrated or extremely underweighted depending on stream shape/spacing changes etc.

Long Maps similarly can be extremely overrated if mapped like Save Me by Drummer or can be rated fine if mapped even close to consistently in difficulty.

Also for the last question, I don't think 1 miss plays should be rewarded too much, rather, I just think Low acc plays (below 90%) should be worth absolutely nothing. ScoreV2 would feel a lot better if the 300K allocated to accuracy started scaling at 90%
