Continuing the recent trend of getting homegrown talent straight from the osu! community, we're proud to announce the latest addition to the Featured Artist - the one and only VINXIS!
A veteran osu! player and accomplished mapper to boot, VINXIS has lived and even helped create the moments that make osu! really tick. On days that aren't particularly sidetracked, he's experimenting with new sounds in his music, or just generally pottering around osu! and enjoying his time with friends.
Beyond that, VINXIS has also been a major force in the osu! community at large, having helped organize and run major events like OHC and the Mapper's Choice Awards. There's very little that he hasn't done - you're bound to have seen or heard of him somewhere!
Here's just a sample of what we've got in store for you from his body of work:
A complex jaunt through orchestral themes underpinned with a classic DnB twist, Facade is both the latest and most advanced iteration on VINXIS' sound. With all the muscle of a tech-oriented track but none of the gristle, Facade is something special.
Perhaps one of his most iconic tracks, Sidetracked Day is something of an osu! cultural institution at this point. Made famous by the titular map by SnowNiNo_, Sidetracked Day builds and just keeps on building right until the very end.
A short version of this track is available.
A curious walk through stuttering vocals underpinned by pensive lyrics. Subtle variation keeps progression interesting throughout.
A short version of this track is available.
Atmospheric to say the least, A Centralized View is many things, and infinitely mappable is one of them. Layers of simple synthlines intertwine amidst complex percussion to create something as uniquely enthralling as it is clean and uplifting.
Beep boop. Wub wub. What you take away from Take is up to you, but what is certain is that six minutes of evolving rhythm and trills is sure to test the skills of even the most skilled mappers.
All the tracks listed above (and any more on his Featured Artist listing) are available now for mapping, totally free for use in osu!. Worry less, and map more!
Any existing maps for any of these tracks are all now considered official osu! content. This means they're eligible for things like Hush-Hush medals (which we haven't forgotten about, by the by), and other cool stuff soon to be revealed!
If you like what you hear, make sure to show your support! Head on over to VINXIS' twitter and toss a follow to stay up to date with his work, subscribe to his YouTube channel, check him out on Bandcamp, Spotify and SoundCloud too!
The train doesn't stop here, we've got another osu! community favourite lined up to be revealed in the coming weeks and months. And then another one after that. And then something most classy indeed...
Stay tuned!
