Tune in for the latest batch of improvements to the game!
Before we jump straight into the updates, you can also find them in a video format below, presented by pishifat, peppy and a few other guests:
Changes
Tournament client improvements. This is a special mode the client can be launched in which provides real-time graphics and statistics for tournament streams. Perhaps the most notable change for tournament watchers is a score difference counter near the score bars, but there were lots of general updates and improvements to the usability of tournament setup tools.
Kiai fountains are back! If the main menu of osu!(lazer) felt dull so far, with this update that is certainly no longer the case! If you are unfamiliar with what the fountains are, they are the flurry of particles that spew out from the sides of the screen during kiai sections in the menu.
Stable-compatible beatmap exports. If you didn't want to map in osu!(lazer) before, maybe today is the day that changes. You can now use the new slider curve types while mapping and export them in a format that the good old client understands.
Gameplay and multiplayer changes. Offset drift issues should be fixed, per-beatmap offset calibration now applies to all difficulties at once, spinners now spin faster, and there's now a quick toggle for enabling all free mods when selecting maps in multiplayer.
Storyboard rendering fixes when spectating in multiplayer. Some storyboards would previously render as transparent, which could cause all kinds of jank when spectating. Not anymore.
Cyclical selection for overlapping objects in the editor. This one is easiest understood by example: got a stack of 8 circles, but want to select the 3rd one from the top? Just click the stack 3 times. This was a feature in the skin editor which has now been ported over.
Major performance improvements on mobile devices. This is a big one. On iOS (and maybe next release on Android), performance should be at least doubled. Maybe an app store release isn't far off?
Do you want to know everything about the latest update, even all of those nerdy details we just mentioned? Well you are in luck, the full list of changes are up on the changelog!
You may also watch the above video above, and notice that it was recorded at cavoe's osu! event (COE) last week. Another thing you may notice is that some of the optimisations and changes in this update were specifically made to help deliver the best experience for the osu! tournament played entirely in osu!(lazer) during the event.
It's 2023, and you still don't know what osu!(lazer) is? Now is the perfect time to catch up with this quick primer on the osu! YouTube channel.
If you are just looking for a download link, you can find the latest release here or by clicking the update notification in-game. Have fun!
There’re a lot of changes to settings and to how game works, so a lot of preferable things in stable aren’t working the same way in lazer. Btw setting up in osu lazer doesn’t take more than 3 minutes. Considering that your settings from stable could worsen game’s performance why would you want to import settings from stable. Also lazer has a setup configuration tool, which helps with basic needs.
true true I'd just like a couple of things to transfer over but since it is like a whole rebuild of stable id see where you'd wanna try out new settings and see if it feels any different.
