WARNING

As you may seen, the rest of the thread is basically plain text, the reason being, I was working on this thread since june, but got demotivated, and I just wanted to get it out, so my decoration effort was cut unfinished, if this is successful, I will edit this thread and add all the presentation stuff I wanted to add. Even if I lost motivation to put all the amazing stuff into the thread, I will still update it as long as i'm playing osu

other than that, the list may be wrong, so if you see anyone added to a year they shouldn't have been in, or someone missing, please comment it so we can fix it

RULES

-An era constitutes a year in which OT existed

-In order to be added to an era, you must have at least 5 pages of posts/threads in OT (250 posts!), and be present for over 4 months of the year. Mafia/forum games does not count

-This thread is updated at the end of each year

-If a change is ever made to OT!eras, it must be applied to every past and current eras,

-If I ever go inanactive in OT, or the thread, a GMT can take control of the thread, a regular user can also take control of the thread, just copy and paste the original thread in your own, doing the changes you want to see

-OT Government does not have any authority over this thread, they're considered regular users

EXCEPTIONS/CURRENT PROBLEMS
-2007 and 2008 are mixed into a single year, due to the nature of OT at the time

-2007 and 2008 memebers, while they do require to have at least 1 post on OT over their entire lifespan, posts from other subforums will also count torward their membersip

-I cant access banned users post history, so the following users have been omited from the list:

Roseus jager
ashton
Ippe
Strager
Wolfette

Also please read this thread

I took from the denizen list, the denizen requirement were low so I expect abraker calculations to hold up, also, I dqed a lot of people that were once considered denizen because they did not meet in standard

I think I did check a month ago but forgot, anyways, thanks for confirming

you need at least 4 months of threads in ot in a single year, you created your account in november 2022, even if you posted day 1 of your account creation, that would not make 4 months

I started posting in OT in September 2022 (Dang it's already been a year). So I would've been here for only 3 months by the start of 2023.

Wait no, that was in forum games. I didn't start talking in OT until October 2022.

just remember to not just post because you want the post number, then it just ends up like GD or whatever, try actually contributing to the conversation and only responding to threads you actually care about

What would you know, I did an independent (lesson learned, never trust the government) research and found names that are missing. Some are more preeminent, others are more mysterious. Perhaps, some names were simply erased as time went by or it could be an intentional cover-up… Whichever it is, we must find the truth together.

should meet the post count requirement for 2007-08, if you consider Other subforums to count.

Back with more gifts. This is the new list with the names they don't want you to know about, keep it safe. I must say, having years and not generations gets you a better perspective on how OT was changing. Some people shine brighty and burn out fast, others start meekly and then bloom into robust denizens. Then there're people like abraker, who epitomize the best of both worlds. Fascinating, really…

I dislike this in the sense that postcount doesn't reflect impact.
There have been some individuals that were memorable if only for the fact that their ratio of quality posts was wildly exceeding that of other denizens while still showing a modicum of activity to be considered part of the landscape.
As an example of that I would like to call out schism.
Although few in posts and partially lost to the currents of time as their expressive image usage can no longer be witnessed due to dead links, he's one of the posters of my "era" I will never forget.
Every single time I saw a new thread by them I was immediately excited because there was no doubt it was going to be good before even clicking on it. In that sense, schism is much more memorable to me than many shitposters from "my time" and due to their strong and consistent roleplaying my impression of them is much more clear than that of some other posters of my time.

While I won't bother to argue against acceptance through quantity to cater to those uninspired and lacking in creativity, this should never lead to quality posters not being recognized.
None should ever feel forced to vomit a load of garbage into this subforum to gain some accolade of questionable value and be accepted by those rolling around in the mud and racking up their postcount with head-keyboard-smashes. Get good.

Ultimately, just be aware that that denizen list never followed any criteria but was basically just a subjective "people that were memorable part of the landscape" impression by abraker. None cared at the time and it was just a funny thing in hindsight. faiswusuf didn't have nearly enough posts to qualify according to your new criteria originally but they became a central part of subforum culture in a flash, overshadowing poor plotter.

I agree, at some years the post count is especially useless, for example at the height of "ITT: neither funny nor interesting" threads it mostly consisted of low-effort posting, however the impact of eras is not the same as getting the denizen status, since you don't really need to be recognized by anyone, the minimum requirement is simple to achieve for anyone really, there's no real need to even post useless messages.

What this system does achieve better is recording and preserving a historical landscape of OT, you get a better grasp of people who were posting in the past, you can see people fading away or suddenly popping and disappearing. The overlap of users is especially good, because once you get the denizenship, that's it, you get tied to a specific generation even if you were active for entire generations.

That's just an activity chart though.
I'm sure if you mention this to abraker and lock him inside his lab for a couple hours he'll write some script to scour OT for each poster's posts per month and then come up with some ultrawack visualization until someone bugs him enough to make the data public read-only and presents it better.

Although perhaps interesting to see, that kind of distinction lacks a human component and it lacks what makes this subforum OT - subjectivity, chaos, drama.
And finally I think everyone here is still being molded by their "generation". Simply due to the fact that OT becomes stale over time and the same random shit isn't always funny for no reason again with new people.
Endaris
Tbh, next people will yell for their threads to be added to OT chronicles - which are just as subjective as the denizen crap. Both are different variants of randomly recording history.

read my previous post, it's linked on this thread. This is not supposed to reflect impact, this is just an objective messurement of who was active at which time, nothing more, nothing else, also the osu!chronicles is really akward to use for this same reasons.

Also due to the changes to the denizen system over the years, it's really nto even useful to see impact either, the only way ot really have a pure impact of influence would be to remake it again with that intention all over again

Exactly this, and since people who would know who was impactful in the past are long gone it's basically impossible, even if you read everything in OT you don't have the context of being there when it happened/being part of it

Crazy considering I only started posting in October of that year.

More stuff from the good old times, going to reconnoiter through archives again. Reading through ancient threads is fun, you should try it too! Side note: HUGE shift must've happened in late 2012, a lot of the posts were made by new people, all oldies from before either left or were barely active.
