A little straying from the topic with the thread about unpopular opinions.. it's funny that there is its own OT in OT, but under the name 'SHITPOST THREAD'

Anyways, let’s continue the discussion in this thread. I think being gay is a spectrum. Liking femboys puts you closer to the gay side, but not fully gay. It also depends on WHY you like femboys.
And for therapists, yeah, z0z is right. If you have a good therapist, they will be there to kind of guide you in the right direction in terms of what to think about when trying to solve mental issues.
A lot of the times we as humans can get stuck within our own perspective, and having a new fresh perspective can help see things from a new angle / new light. You just have to be open minded, or else it won’t be all too helpful.
And for therapists, yeah, z0z is right. If you have a good therapist, they will be there to kind of guide you in the right direction in terms of what to think about when trying to solve mental issues.

I’ve interacted with too many individuals in my life who have a way of thinking where if they aren’t able to understand something or of something doesn’t work for them, then it’s wrong and everyone else is dumb. They are typically unpleasant type of people to interact with.

At the very least, exclusively liking femboys over women is gay, because the thing differentiating the two is that one is in fact male.
I don't think Therapists should be outright abolished since, as youve said some are good at their job, but funding should be severely reduced, or therapy should just be a volunteer thing, or both. Making a career of sitting down in front of emotionally unstable people and giving "advice" (ie: doing fuckall) is just grifting. Sell me a course while you're at it.
I also think being dependant on a therapist for small things or going when you don't actually need to go is stupid. I could consider going if a family member died or something, I guess.

Also, I think going to a therapist for death related grief is probably the time I would least want to go to a therapist.

I’m agree with the fact that you can grow and improve without therapy. A lot of people are very much capable of doing so. But just cause you can doesn’t mean it’s the easiest and / or best option.Ymir wrote:

Some people need the extra little help. Some people don’t have close friends or family that have the experience or understanding of what they are going through, which makes it hard for them to feel like their emotions are valid. Some people just find it easier to convey their feelings and emotions when they have to actually translate what they are thinking into something that is understandable by another person.
I think it’s just easier to process your thoughts and emotions when you actually have another individual to reciprocate or validate how you’re feeling and help you move forward onto the next step.
Theres so many different reasons why therapy could be helpful for different people. It’s just one of those things where it’s more useful for some, and less useful for others. I don’t think there’s many opportunities for therapy to be a net negative though. Unless you consider the financial aspect.

i dont imagine ymir has to be lacking in life experience in order to find therapy generally minimally useful/effective (or intrinsically/uniquely valuable by its own merits)

If they consider themselves male and you're aware of this and are still attracted to them, it's at least a little gay. But that's perfectly fine.
I never liked the meme discussion of if liking femboys makes you gay that kept popping up years ago. I'm sure there were some that were genuinely curious and wanted to have a harmless discussion about it, but it felt like a lot of people were using it to try and defend themselves on how they're "not gay because being gay is weird!" That antiquated stigma that many of those people share (whether they realize it or not) is what gets to me. As in why are they so scared of the answer being "yes"? Who fucking cares brother stop holding yourself back for stupidass reasons.
Note: this last part wasn't directed towards anyone in the thread, it's just a tangent of mine.

I just started Man And His Symbols this morning when it arrived.
I enjoy reading two books concurrently that way I don’t get burnt out on trying to finish just one book at a time. Let’s me have little breaks, switching between books whenever I feel I need a break from one or the other.
