okay, OT, I need opinionsSome of the pinned thread are a mess, mainly The chronicles, The art of OT, and The Royal Directory
The chronicles are basically dead with no one to update it right now, we could update it, but I fear no one honestly even really cares about it anymore?, I don't think many people in OT have actually read it, so it would kinda be just wasted effort
The art of OT is just outdated, a lot of the advice it gives doesn't hold up to 2024 OT, a lot of it is just repeating what the edict said, a lot of sections like the part on how to make friends is kinda weird an I don't know why they exist in the first place, and again, it's a lot more text that new users are supposed to read (because again, no one actually does it)
and for the directory, half of those threads are dead, (red line means dead)
I think this is something we should aim to fix but tbh I haven't got a clear idea on how to do it. There are a couple ideas in the parliament but none of them so far are rock solid, so i'm asking the general public for ideas
For me personally, the ruling also has been:Karmine wrote:
Idk about keeping Shitpost pinned, it would probably still get posts without being pinned or the posts would move to ITT 2 since they're sometimes kinda the same thing..
This could be done on this thread's OP if it gets pinned, would make it easy to access government stuff for everyone.Blushing wrote:

I see the point. I take "ITT: We post something neither funny or..." as the shitpost thread imo. I dont think it relevant to have two... but I do see the idea behind it.Manishh wrote:
@Blushing I personally think 'Shitpost'thread does deserve to be pin, It is similar to G&R 'Post your score here'. The purpose of it is to prevent more shitpost just like how the purpose in gr is to stop threads like 'How is my gameplay' or 'Vod review'
I personally do agree with you, but even when the thread got changed to schizopost, people just wanted to make the thread the same as always, and even when the option to make it not shitpost but something actually different came up with the poll, people STILL refused, so yeah, I don't we're going to be able to unpin that thread lmaoManishh wrote:
I dont see the point why both "ITT 2: We post shit that is neither funny nor interesting" and "SHITPOST THREAD" are pinned. They are literally used for the same objective, which is to post shit on it

We're discussing what to do with denizen, the current problems of denizen are:
-no one actually understand how denizenships works
-no one actually agrees on what denizenship is
-denizens are inconsistent over the ages
-denizenships not being given after the time has past
-generations switching for no reason
-Denizen causes more drama and toxicity than any positive thing, so denizen does more harm than it is good
so, how do we fix this problem?, we're have discussed tings in parliament but I want to hear your general opinion, if you guys can suggest full fledged propositions and not like "I don't like this thing in current system", please do
Well it's still only the government who makes Denizens, I meant people outside the government have their say on each Denizen too, as opposed to a body of like 4 people.Patatitta wrote:

It's one of the only ways we could make Denizenship free from Drama. Just throwing the idea out there, I'm personally fine with the current method though.
Hence why I never pushed for a complete democracy system anyway. But if reducing inconsistency and drama is something we are aiming for, then community voice should be considered in some way.Manishh wrote:

1: electing denizenship is the only thing a government do, you are stealing there job
2: Very slow and long process. This is like adding paper work in OT! Waiting for approval of everyone.
3: will need to create its own guidelines. Ex a guy won by just couple votes should be consider denizen or not
4: will lead to inconsistency since a government will announce if there rules or views has change for denizen but public will not do that. You don't know if the criteria for denizenship is even being considered by the voter.
I dont see a reason why it will reduce inconsistency, though I get your point. But in my experience, whenever there have been public talk about denizenship, nothing useful has came out of it and nor will there ever be. When it comes to discussion, everyone is a brick wall, even me.Ymir wrote:

the main issue is that people still see value in denizenship.Addressing Manishh1. electing denizenship is the only thing a government does? Ok you are the government... do something other than that lol? You guys are the deciders of what you can do. be the change? Idk, very reductive and very american politician (I say all of these things, then nothing is done because I now have the position and will never be impeached)
2. An entire voting of everyone voting for the denizens seems like a good idea. You guys forget that making a post as an official body or through the GMT can and should be done when announcing official change or something like that. I literally dont understand why its a vote of a few people, but the rest of the OT world is unable to put their own opinion (except for when it comes to removing them... apparently).
3. OK THEN STOP BEING LAZY AND MAKE THE GUIDELINES, YOU WANTED THIS POSITION STOP BEING LAZY!
4. Again, criteria for denizenship is hardly objective. So much so that the current president has an entire thread for such a thing, and is actively wanting to change the current system. Voters in other democratic processes don't always know what the person is going for and they are only voting because they like the campaign or because they like the person in general. Being a denizen does nothing passed getting to vote in elections and being able to run, which can be changed on the whim from the president, so idk why it matters.
5. Stop holding a title with no meaning to a higher standard just because you met a post count in a year.

2: I already stated the cons, the 'few people' are elected by the 'many people' and why is that? It is so actual things happen rather than trying to satisfy every person. And get over it, you didnt even meet the requirement in the first place..
3: The cons are greater than pros, its waste of time in making guideline for such a thing
4: Denizenship was never made to give power, it was a hall of fame, A way of preserving history. It has a value for me, maybe not for you.
5: Why are you even talking about it when you dont see any meaning in it?
"Government should listen to the community"

after a discussion featuring blushing, corne, reyalp and kobold, the results were as following:
The thread was clearly opposing OT rules, mainly because of the high quantity of insults starting post 32 of the thread. While not offensive on themselves, they were still against osu! rules and leaving it unlocked would have led to more insults
HOWEVER
Locking the thread was the incorrect action to take in that situation, what should have happened is for the thread to remain unlocked, but to delete all of the offending messages. Corne claims he recognised this and they were just tired, still, locking the thread was better than not taking any action.
The thread will remain locked in it's current state, as reviving the thread currently would serve no purpouse (and because gmts are lazy tbhh), however, this will be the rule going forward, if the thread is just filled by insults, the posts will be deleted, and the thread won't be locked. If you see any thread in the future breaking this rule, feel free to report it.
