Solution for the denizen problem

During my stay on OT, reaching the title of denizen has always seem like an impossible task due to the amount of time you must spend on OT. 8 month of constant posting on OT just seem like such a long time and indeed it is so I propose a plan to change it.

The original denizen requirement of 8 months made by Penguin won't really be changed however it would be moved back a step. My solution is to create a sub category called the "Denizenship Nominee" which is attainable before denizen.

Also Denizenship Nominee is entirely optional so if you don’t like making post and thread, you can just wait 8 months and get the denizen title normally.

The requirement for denizenship nominee are as followed

- Five months of constant activity on OT
- At least 2 decent quality threads
- 250 OT post or 5 pages of post (FG doesn't count)
- Never been exiled before

If someone meet all these condition, they can submit an report and the parliament will decide if they are qualified for the title. If the are denied, they can only wait a few more month to be officially titled as denizen but if they are accepted, they gain the title of denizenship nominee. Denizenship nominee give you the same privileges as a normal denizen but with a few rules.

- A denizenship nominee will lose the title if he/she goes inactive on OT for anymore than two weeks
- A denizenship nominee will lose the title if he/she started to break many rules
- A denizenship nominee cannot run for president
- A denizenship nominee will not be placed in the Denizen generation map

The parliament will could also vote to remove someone's title of denizenship nominee and if you somehow loses it, you cannot apply for denizenship nominee again and can only wait for the official denizen title

If a denizenship nominee follow the rules for another 3 months (8 months in total). they will automatically become an official denizen.

If you wish to see this change asap, vote ShinRun for OT presidency 2022

This only applies after this is passed

It's like how people who became denizen with the 2 month requirement are still denizen

maybe you could change to "exiled in recent times" instead of "never".

I mean if you're exiled more than once within 5 months, you're probably not worthy of denizen nominee
Cerno
i feel like most people who gets exiled usually did some retarded shit that leds him to it, unless if the person changes than that could be negotiated, otherwise i think “never” is kinda reasonable. Wouldnt wanna nominate a retard innit

Yeah, I think it should remain as "never". Exceptions should be allowed to be made, but I can't imagine many are necessary tbh.

Penguin's denizenship proposal seems easier to attain than this excruciating process.
Yours is much more "impossible" compared to his.

Did the original qualification originally require something more than 10 pages of OT posts? Or anything relevant to activity other than length of stay?

originally before penguin's parliament voting, for a lurker to obtain denizenship they must be on OT for 3 months and accumulate 10 pages of OT posts.

Does that still apply with penguin's current denizenship requirement?
ClevelandsMyBro
no. he changed it to 8 months on OT and i believe he removed the 10 pages threashhold in favour of parliament voting.
Julian_Kaiser
Penguin's approach to tackle to the issues of denizenship status was a better idea.

Penguin only wanted an eight months time of active presence on OT.

ShinRun requires 5 months for nomination and another 3 months for denizenship title.

How is that a better solution when it basically needs the same requirements with some additional steps?
Scyla
Is denizenship required? What are the benefits of becoming a denizen?

Wasnt the issue that 8 months just made people give up entirely and leave since its practically a millenia in internet time?

And two weeks to reset such a massive amount of time spent seems a bit steep honestly.

This just seems like more stuff for the parliament people to keep track of for the same effect.

Theres an argument to be made that we may not want the people who only want the title and arent here to talk about random stuff, but I dont really think this changes much tbh.

People have said before that just reducing the time to ~4-6 months and keeping/reinforcing the requirement to have contributed something notable to OT could be better, still keeps people who are only here to be denizen away, but people arent stuck waiting forever.

10 pages of post is not much, 5 months give you around 150 days and you just need to post 3-4 times a day to reach 500 posts

What seem impossible is the length of time not the amount of post

Also making two threads with some effort is not hard at all, I’m only putting this in since like 3 member of 8th gen never made a thread

You just gotta be active for 5 months, not break any rules, and make 2 threads.

How hard is it to comprehend.

Also about the argument that this is too much work for the parliament, I don’t think I seen parliament do anything except choosing new denizen which happen every other month

ShinRun wrote:

How is this more lenient?

You still have to be active for every two weeks otherwise you lose your nomination. The length still stretches to eight months.
And you added the law that everyone has to forge at least two threads of quality. Which in this case, you are probably going to be the one deciding whether it's of quality or not.

You are infusing more strictness into it.

I never once said my proposal is more lenient in my post, I just said it’s faster to reach.

Even if it’s more strict, it’s for the good of OT. Have you not seen how fucked gen 8 is?

I have never seen Cerno, Yhuan Debeste or Itz_uwu_plays make any thread, Cerno and Yhuan Debeste went inactive right after reaching denizen, Bambinex and uwu dropped their activity right after reaching denizen.

Not to mention that Raffi spend way more time on FG and barely any time on OT while Farfocele have an very inconsistent activity graph on OT

These people are suppose to set up for next gen but clearly they aren’t so I’m trying to change the rules to make OT better.
Noob
Yeah about the threads, I'll never be a denizen.
Corne2Plum3
I think the problem is 8 months is way too long, and may scare people, so they will don't try. And it's a problem because people will not be changed for the future.

I suggest only 4 months of activity, 200 posts and at least 2 decent threads

You are trying to make the members of this forum category more of a creed matter.
All denizens are supposed to be observant followers of this forum category in order to be qualified its members. You enforced new practices to be observed. You're against the idea of members being inconsistently active.
Also,
Not to mention that Raffi spend way more time on FG and barely any time on OT while Farfocele have an very inconsistent activity graph on OT
I bet gradually and slowly you'll make it mandatory to post at least once a day or something of the sort. You're not letting them be active on other forum categories.

The reason why they become inactive after is because 8 months is an excruciating process, thus they get relieved after. If denizenship status was more of a status and not more of an achievement title, they wouldn't have been this way.

ShinRun
I never said people can’t spend more time on other forum, have you not seen the amount of time I asked for Raffi to become denizen but yes I don’t like the idea of inconsistent activity in OT.

Also this whole proposal is optional meaning if you don’t like spending more effort and time on OT, just wait the original 8 months and be granted denizen the normal way. No one said this is mandatory.

If you want early access, you gotta spend more

I don’t give a damn what people do after they reach 8 months, I’ll just saying we should have a quicker way to nominate denizen to satisfy newer members

This seems like a fake "issue" that is being created only for the sake of fake "progress". Manufacturing a fake problem, tricking your populace into thinking it is a real issue, then proposing a fake solution is an age old scummy tactic for politicians running for office..

Who is saying that we have a denizenship problem? Children being impatient doesn't constitute as a real "problem". 10 Denizens have already been accepted since my proposal went into action. There are a total of 128 denizens in generations 2-7. Gens 2-7 lasted approximately 12 years. That means that we had an average of 10-11 denizens per year prior to Gen 8. It has been about a year since my proposal went through and 10 denizens have been introduced in the past year. Everything seems to be perfectly fine to me.

If the issue that you're trying to tackle is the activity in OT, then I recommend you try elsewhere. Activity has not decreased at all due to my denizen requirements. My policies were set in place to address the quality issues that were were seeing in OT at the time, and it helped immensely. I'm sure that you can ask many of the denizens who were present at the time and they will tell you that we had a massive issue at the time.

The changes that you are proposing, Shin, will reintroduce the very thing my policy has set out to get rid of! You will be solving absolutely nothing, while introducing a whole mess of new issues! I recommend you dig a bit deeper into the history of OT before you propose such ridiculous changes.
Tad Fibonacci
I feel like blaming how people comes and goes to OT to how denizenship is handled is not a right approach.

The reason why activities decreased is because the quality of threads and interactions have gone down through out the months/years. People are less likely to go back to OT when they have no attachments or any meaningful interactions on OT.

Until that problem is solved or dealt with, changing the denizenship requirements will not change how people posts or their attitude on the forums.
Sure, activity on OT might have a boost for a short period, but it'll eventually go back down when people are bored or that they realized that the title of an OT denizen literally means nothing.

Not to mention this goes against why abraker started this denizenship thing in the first place. It was meant to be a reward/acknowledgement for meaningful contributions to the forum, no matter how brief it was.
The change you're proposing will change the very nature of this and will turn denizenship into an elitist title that people have to work for and prove themselves for and yes, some people are desperate for internet clout and in that way, you'd get more activities on the forums, but personally if you ask me, the people who only interacts with a community ONLY for an "elite" title and bragging rights will not bring good or meaningful contents to it, nor are they very fun to interact with on the forums either.

I'd much rather we have less denizens but they actually know and interacts with each other in a meaningful way than having more retards who would just spam the forums for a few months so they could get a meaningless internet made up title.
