Uh.
I mean, the current "drama" is that i'm not abraker, any change to the system would have created that reaction, however, the actual system hasn't really backfired once yet, no drama about gens changing when they should be, of people not beig added 6 momnths after they meet the requirement, no drama about if someone should be removed from denizen, etc, it's been working as it should be
i apologize for incidentally adding onto the pressure, i dont have a particularly strong opinion either way, but i'd like to understand:
how is it that the "current drama" is necessarily about you not being abraker?
(and does it not seem plausible that there were things abraker did that people happen to prefer? i can't really point to those distinctions myself, so i don't really have an argument to make in posing this follow-up question, but i also think it might be fair to consider this if it's not something that can be explained)
nah it's not pressure, you haven't been here when I first got president, people wanted me GONE badly
Me not being abraker is not the reason, however it kinda illustrates the point I want to make, if you were to look at the original denizen thread in a more objective way, you would see the system we used to have failed at it, if the point was to preserve OT history, it was too confusing to understand and each gen lacked the context for a new user to come in OT and understand it, the gen changes were mainly defined by OT lore, which you will have noticed it's currently very absent from current OT, so abraker just started changing the gens when it just felt right, which led to many problems, since at that point in time abraker wasn't really active in OT and was pretty out of touch with many things, however, abraker ruling kept being king because well, he was abraker, the person with the most authority in OT.
the system just didn't work, and the people running the thread just started freeballing it, the requirements were
not enforced, people who met the 8 month activity requirement and had created many posts and threads didn't get denizen while someone like blushing, who didn't meet the requirements, got it, and instead of just reversing the changes, a vote was held to decide if the very obvious rule breakin should be reversed, no vote for blushing to get in but one for him to get out, the system was biased as fuck.
But well, most people in OT never really challenged the system, for most people the denizen thread existed even from before they joined OT or osu and would probably still exist for the day they quit, everyone just was used to it. + you, as a newfag, even if you saw flaws with the system, you didn't have the authority to criticize it.
Then I come in and actually change the system, changing the thing everyone is used to basing myself on the problems people had learn to ignore, not only that, but I wasn't abraker, if abraker wanted to change something in OT, they could just do it, no question asked, I don't have that level of power. It's natural for people to be really mad at me, however, I truly think that i'm in the right with the changes I have made, so I don't really care
also, the people actually criticizing me are like the same 3 people every time, the wider OT community doesn't really seem to care, is that because denizen has lost all prestige?, maybe, I do personally think some people do care enough to check this thread and don't really see anything wrong with it, people still react at the announcements and shit
