If you reduce GMT to strictly moderation you get an empty husk. I moderate OT, yea, but I don't just silently lock posts and silence, but I interact with you guys. I work on pp development. I am one of the few GMTs that actually go into multiplayer and casually play with people. That's all considered part of what a GMT should be doing.
Creating an ambassador role would make more sense for people who "make stuff" other than just being part of the community/moderating
Pushing GMTs to do that would be like pushing BNs to moderate even though that's not what the role is for originally, it doesn't make sense to me

The worst thing that can happen is OT getting carried away by spamming, necroing and other behavior demonstrating a negative braincell count. At that point Eph would make yet another thread asking why OT should be spared. If it comes to worst there will be an internal vote on what to do with the subforum, which will not go in its favor. If the vote favors shutting OT down, a request to ppy will made to archive the subforum. That would be the last checkpoint before point of no return. It's only at that point you can actually argue nominating someone from OT to moderate this place and have ppy override whatever GMT thinks and votes. Generally, the team will observe people for several weeks or months to make sure they are a worthy addition to the team.In practice if there is an immediate need for a GMT in a certain area, it takes one GMT who is familiar with someone to propose them as candidate. There have been more calls to bring people into the group who's purpose is not strictly to moderate but bridge the gap between community and the GMT/NAT/osu!team. I feel archiving the only real active, speaking sub-forum would be shooting yourself in the foot, don't know if they're acually willing to do that, even if you go now, I think it would still be a while until OT really goes into anarchy, as you've been taking breaks recently and so far we've been good, maybe, there is a chance, that if they see there are no actives gmts in ot, and that you, and the rest of OT has been pushing for a specific user to be gmt, it would be more probable for corne to become gmt?, I don't really know any other gmts, I just hope they dont just take a decision like that because fuck it no more work for me
