A few days ago, it has been exactly half a year since the last OT! Weekly Scuffed News made by Manishh. Now, a trivial question arises for those who were there a few years ago or early in the year when the concept has been awakened, and for those who have never heard of it: Would you still be interested in OT! Scuffed News if they were actually being posted every weeks without any break?

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is only a 3-day survey to find out what the denizens (and others) think of it without the goal of making the OT! Weekly Scuffed News myself

RP is really missing these last days so anything that could bring it back would be good
Patatitta
I don't think a news show about what is going on inside OT really matters inside OT as everyone already knows all the new anyway, if you're making OT news you have to make it outward facing, not inside facing, and for rp there are better concepts anyways

I was thinking of making interactive threads in OT to stimulate lost souls' mind for everyone's enjoyment

BUT THAT'S A STORY FOR ANOTHER DAY
Duck o-o
nothing is happening so itd be boring

ot has about as many good threads as the ps5 has exclusive games ;-;

RP has been dead for like 3 years why do you guys keep trying?

okay, i'm going to have way too long of an answer to this

the fact that RP is dead rn doesn't imply that it's going to stay dead, it's very likely to come back, there just has to be enough interest on it, tho, I think this is the wrong way to go about it

as some of you know, I used to make CTB videos before kinda just quitting the game and someone creating basically my channel but better (I don't say this as a bad thing, big shoutout to ajia they're a beast), point is, me and ajia have been the only real active CTB youtube channels these past two years, however, that doesn't mean we have been the only ones to get interested in it.

There have been at least 6-7 different CTB chanenl projects and not exactly by randoms, but by real high rank players and figures in the community, sometimes there was actual real life money on the table. Everything has been proposed, podcasts, mapping guides, twitch streams, etc, we even landed a spot on the official osu! youtube channel to make a introductory course to CTB before my companions dropped the ball on that project

point is, they never made it past the proposing phase. They made a really well redacted very pretty very promising proposal, but they never really take into action, in fact, they often spend WAYYYYYYYY too long actually planning everything out, so long that the hype dies out and everyone moves on to the next thing

what I have learnt is that if you want to pull a BIG project, at least of this magnitude where it still can only be done by a single person with enough effort (yes, near the end of my YT lifespan I had WAY too many people credited per video, but I started doing everything, I only contaced one person to do VA), you can't spend time just doing proposals and trying to find the optimal way to do it, you just have to do it

this is actually the philosophy that I had when I made ot!eras, people kept and kept complaining about denizen and there were so many proposals but nothing was ever carried out, so I said, fuck you, i'm doing it yourself and i'm not even going to poll this, i'm going to do it and if people are interested good then eh at least I tried

so if you truly or anyone in OT wants to brink RP back, please don't do this formulaic type of planning stuff, just fucking do it, you will learn along the way

I am thinking this more on a longer term scale. Will this actually stay alive?
I have to agree that nothing is going on (weekly), or anything that does happen, isn't interesting most of the time. It's a rare occurrence for people to find interest here.

Then, of course, Patatiita's opinion is sound. If anything, OT!News would introduce material for newcomers, without them having to scroll and pick specific threads. The OT!News should recap on everything that would be a highlight for the subforum. How frequent do newcomers visit? Well, I'm not too sure.

If this is the approach, I think it's fine. At least it serves a purpose that isn't empty. But I definitely don't see active users seeing this as a thing to care about.
Maybe you could add little events every week(s), and I assume that is what RP was used for.

Perhaps a good concept of an event could be
"OT!Event: Markup Countries

In this event, pick a country to look into for fun facts. Then, post your fun facts! By the end of the week, people will decide on which fun facts are the most interesting.
List of countries
1 - open
2 - open
3 - PolySmuckar
"

That is just an example. Now, I'm not sure how successful this approach would be. The idea is to get people to post more, whilst adding material for the OT!News. Of course, the material needs to somewhat be unique to the subforum as well. So, the example idea above would not work, I don't think. Why? Because anyone can just do that. I assume that you want to only capture moments of OT from its users. Which is why RP was used. It can be unique to how people respond to it. Well, now it's back to just what it was. So then, now what? Something needs to drive people to think their own way but also have interest to them, and to me, that's hard to think around.

RP was good. I definitely don't see it much here (or I just don't bother to look), but even if RP is introduced, will it be an empty filling? I don't think it would be that bad short-term, but long-term?. Patatitta is right that other concepts can be used, but those concepts haven't been used yet. So if you wanted to go with the approach of RP, the questions lie, "Will this just be a waste of time? Will other concepts be introduced after OT!News implemented one? Can OT!News be prevalent still or afterwards the other concepts die off?"

Yeah but the few RP threads that have been made lately died quickly so even that doesn't work because there's not enough people interested.
The last one that was actually active for a time was the apartment one. I don't think we're gonna see big RP threads in the near future and certainly not OT-wide RP like there was before we joined (like when abraker was active).

if you want to make something go for it just think b4 if you can handle it, i have tried to make a bunch of threads that were way too ambitious or topics that i really like but cant make them justice

this is why my rp has always been contained to something small that only needs attention for a few days or a dumb video that people can watch and enjoy easily

Wrong, "bad" threads should be forbidden and only "quality" threads are allowed.
I won't tell you what makes a thread good though.
