Not counting certain subforums and post farmers make it completely irrelevant though, some people with the most post count ever are basically randos who don't belong in the community because they never posted anything of significance.
The current system of post count is just absurd and should completely be removed.
On certain forums you can "like" posts, it doesn't reorder them like social media do, just shows your total like count on your profile. There isn't really any way to farm it aside from making alts (which is very obvious when people do it).
I liked that system on a forum I used to visit, it was a fairly accurate representation of someone's importance in the community.

Post count is useful as a quick way to see how active/old someone is on a forum, which can be relevant sometimes (a same post can be read very differently depending on whether it's posted by a rando or an established user) or just interesting to know out of curiosity. What I'd try personally is creating a database which retrieves the posts ID of each users, eventually the thread numbers as well, and use SQL requests to interact with the database, for example to get the post count. You would need a program that regularly uses the osu! API to check when new posts are added, and regularly check posts for eventual removals. The client just have to ask the server the post count.
You can go above 10k posts in this way but wouldn't be functional immediately as you would have to dump ALL existing posts in OT.
