I don't think being recognized at some point of history as someone who talked in OT should give you that right. Also, you may say it's undemocratic because i'm removing the right of voting to certain people, but under the previous denizen system, where the gov subjectively chose who became or not denizen, it was even worse. You could legally just not give denizen who people you disliked and then have those persons not vote on the elections, not saying that it did happen (at least for that reason) but that's a big fucking problem. Under this system where the metric is purely objective there is no way I cant manipulate who gets to vote with very, very few exceptions (the gmt clause)

Inactive members voting has never been a big issue in the past and unless there's some coordinated oldfag uprising (which can be noticed and avoided as unfair voting behaviour), an oldfag voting for a member, new or old, will not be detrimental. Saying 'you can't vote because you weren't in my eras thread' is silly for the following reasons:

1. You don't need to post on OT to know what's going on. Especially in post 10th Gen, where nothing-ever-happens. Someone like ShinRun for example is still quite knowledgeable of OT, especially when you consider their involvemebt in parliament, and their vote should matter, regardless of if he fits in the silly activity monitor thread.

2. OT is quite simple to understand, a simple debate/mission statement is enough to get an oldfag in the loop on issues, assuming they read it. If they don't, I assume that doesn't really set them apart from other OT users since not all active people actually know about the politics here.

Addressing the comment on Denizenship and previous government bias, whilst there was obviously issues (ahem sleepy government), you're exaggerating how it really went down within those systems. Sure, someone may be biased against an individuals attainment of Denizen, but there was always push back within the parliament. Eventually people deserving in the diverse perspectives of the parliament would make it in.

Though I partially understand why you're incorporating Eras, I can't say I agree with it. At the very least you could push the eligibility for voting to be a bit higher, maybe allowing 2023 Eras users to also be allowed a vote.

What does the president do?

The role of OT!President gives you the ability to push a variety of changes in OT, as long as the GMTs and parliament agree with it. Some examples of actions a president can do is locking/unlocking threads, exiling users, pinning/unpinning threads, etc. You're also given control of certain OT institutions such as denizen.

Who can participate?

1. Any OT member who is included in OT!Eras 2024 can vote, including GMTs, electoral candidates, and current parliament members.
2. Any non-GMT member who is included in OT!Eras 2024 can register to be a electoral candidate. The reason why GMTs are NOT included is because they're already part of the gov. So having a GMT be a president would just cause a dictatorship, as no separation of powers between gov and gmt would exist.
3. Self voting is allowed, as honestly it wouldn't change much, the metagame would be just to not vote if you can't vote for yourself and I don't like that so self-voting allowed everyone votes for themselves it's like we didn't have a vote to begin with.
4. If you're a GMT but aren’t part of OT!Eras 2024, you can't vote.

Phase One:

During this phase anyone who meets the previous requirements can register to be a presidential candidate. Just write "I register for president" or something along those lines, as long as you properly communicate that you want to be a president it works. If I miss someone please go to my house and scream at me (just tell me in the thread or dms or anywhere)

This phase will last a week. If you missed this phase, you can no longer apply for president, sorry buddy!

Also, to expedite the process of the elections, you already may start privately submitting questions for phase 2 if you wished to do so.

SUBMIT QUESTIONS
READ QUESTIONS

Phase Two:

This is the interview/debate phase. Everyone may submit questions, be it publicly in the phase two thread, or anonymously, by writing the question on a automated google form/sheet that will be linked on the OP. After that, if your question isn't a complete shitpost, it will be added to a list in the phase two thread. Every presidential candidate must answer to every single whitelisted question. Their answers will also be noted in the OP.

The thread last 7 days, however, the period for uploading mandatory questions only last 6. That is because it a question were to be whitelisted last minute there may be people who may not have the chance to answer leading to a dq which would feel pretty bad. You may still ask questions during that last day tho, it's just that if someone doesn’t answer it they won’t be DQed.

Phase Three:

Every eligible voter has 1 vote, most voted candidate wins, everyone who had voted must confirm that they have voted in "OT Presidential Elections 2024 - Third Phase" thread.

Each voter will be provided a unique token after they have voted. Once the results have been announced, a voter may find whom they voted for by their token listed in the voting results.

The voting period will last 7 days

Other general rules

Campaigning and making threads to boost your popularity is allowed. If you're not eligible for voting you may still make threads related to the elections. Debates are allowed.

Buying votes or gaining votes in a unfairly manner will result on a DQ.


The winner of this elections MUST immediately host the parliament elections. They can also just get someone else to do the vote but you get the point it must happen.

The role of OT!President gives you the ability to push a variety of changes in OT, as long as the GMTs and parliament agree with it. Some examples of actions a president can do is locking/unlocking threads, exiling users, pinning/unpinning threads, etc. You're also given control of certain OT institutions such as denizen.

Who can participate?

1. Any OT member who is included in OT!Eras 2024 can vote, including GMTs, electoral candidates, and current parliament members.
2. Any non-GMT member who is included in OT!Eras 2024 can register to be a electoral candidate. The reason why GMTs are NOT included is because they're already part of the gov. So having a GMT be a president would just cause a dictatorship, as no separation of powers between gov and gmt would exist.
3. Self voting is allowed, as honestly it wouldn't change much, the metagame would be just to not vote if you can't vote for yourself and I don't like that so self-voting allowed everyone votes for themselves it's like we didn't have a vote to begin with.
4. If you're a GMT but aren’t part of OT!Eras 2024, you can't vote.

Phase One:

During this phase anyone who meets the previous requirements can register to be a presidential candidate. Just write "I register for president" or something along those lines, as long as you properly communicate that you want to be a president it works. If I miss someone please go to my house and scream at me (just tell me in the thread or dms or anywhere)

This phase will last a week. If you missed this phase, you can no longer apply for president, sorry buddy!

Also, to expedite the process of the elections, you already may start privately submitting questions for phase 2 if you wished to do so.

Phase Two:

This is the interview/debate phase. Everyone may submit questions, be it publicly in the phase two thread, or anonymously, by writing the question on a automated google form/sheet that will be linked on the OP. After that, if your question isn't a complete shitpost, it will be added to a list in the phase two thread. Every presidential candidate must answer to every single whitelisted question. Their answers will also be noted in the OP.

The thread last 7 days, however, the period for uploading mandatory questions only last 6. That is because it a question were to be whitelisted last minute there may be people who may not have the chance to answer leading to a dq which would feel pretty bad. You may still ask questions during that last day tho, it's just that if someone doesn’t answer it they won’t be DQed.

Phase Three:

Every eligible voter has 1 vote, most voted candidate wins, everyone who had voted must confirm that they have voted in "OT Presidential Elections 2024 - Third Phase" thread.

Each voter will be provided a unique token after they have voted. Once the results have been announced, a voter may find whom they voted for by their token listed in the voting results.

The voting period will last 7 days

Other general rules

Campaigning and making threads to boost your popularity is allowed. If you're not eligible for voting you may still make threads related to the elections. Debates are allowed.

Buying votes or gaining votes in a unfairly manner will result on a DQ.


The winner of this elections MUST immediately host the parliament elections. They can also just get someone else to do the vote but you get the point it must happen.
