I use it so often that I was pretty sure it wouldn't give a wrong answer in this context. The search tool wouldn't Google it, find the correct answer, and then give the wrong answer. I don't think I need 10 sources to confirm the date the Wii was released (which isn't even important information to me), but ChatGPT searches multiple sources in less than 1 second and gives me a concise and quick answer (although Google is just as quick). it's not about choosing sources, it's not about the number of them either, it's about the way chatgpt processes that information and how inprecise the wording generated may be, it's the translation process that is the problem. Asking it when the Wii was invented (especially with search mode on) is basically as reliable as asking it the result of 1 + 1; you simply doubt it will get that wrong. Now, to use it for studying, I would be very cautious (but it still depends on the context).
Also, making prompts that avoid confirmation bias is always essential.
