I wont bar names I never saw before because they can be future denizens, but one thing that its getting on my nerves is new people comparing this to another contest that they saw/participated

I kind of like the max insane diff restriction tbh, admittedly 5.00* is kind of arbitrary but the line would have to be drawn somewhere, and we cant expect everyone here to have the same idea of the difference between an easy expert and a hard insane diff. Its not like easier difficulty maps are worth less than expert+ maps.
It'd also be nice if most people in OT could play the maps after the contest is over, many of the participants so far don't map std anyway and its mostly a for fun contest.
plus making good insane maps that can stand on their own and not just easier/less complex expert maps is something I want to get better at anyway. aside from actually finishing a map for once

And the fact that ur calling this a mapping contest is getting a bit on my nerves too since this isn't really even that since the actual quality mapping is probably not going to determine the actual winner.
I get for fun but if ur gonna do something informal at least make it aparent because the forum post came off more as a "I don't know what I'm doing"
And maybe not call it a mapping contest or at least explicitly state its not supposed to be taken seriously

A fun and creative little circle-only reading map. It is set up such that you have to listen to the rhythm and then tap the circles. The catch? Low AR, irregular rhythm, and a sprinkle note clusters.
Falcom Sound Team jdk - Over Drive [Origin]
Coming from mania his its pros and cons. Pro: Being able to stream reliably. Con: You overstream reliably. This is one of the few stream maps I have that balances those. It imparting just enough stamina that tires me out enough to slow down my tapping to stream at 160 BPM. Oh and I grew pretty fond of these jumps over time too.

Another reading reading map, but this time it's AR 9 reading map! What is so satisfying about this map is the rhythmic placement of notes and how those are coupled with jumps leading to overlaping sections and notes.
DJ THT - Head Over Heals (Nightcore Mix) [Rave]
The absolute banger of a song aside, this map is pretty solid on the enjoyability index as well. Its main motif are note triplets put in rhythmic fashion. But the secret sauce are these triplets acting as a slowed down sliders in midst of a jump. The jumps themselves are mostly obtuse angles, which are my favorite. Also special shoutout to these jumps who's perfect symmetric blend between small and large angles makes it so satisfying.

Consistent pattern theme - check. Overlapping jumps - check. Occasional streams to spruce things up - check. Good music - check. This map is one of my favorites to play.
