Like even the entries itselves has the SR now cranked up to over 4.2*. There's no way you can make something of that caliber and expect to not getting a 0 mark in the contest if it happens again nowadays.

A fun and creative little circle-only reading map. It is set up such that you have to listen to the rhythm and then tap the circles. The catch? Low AR, irregular rhythm, and a sprinkle note clusters.
Falcom Sound Team jdk - Over Drive [Origin]
Coming from mania his its pros and cons. Pro: Being able to stream reliably. Con: You overstream reliably. This is one of the few stream maps I have that balances those. It imparting just enough stamina that tires me out enough to slow down my tapping to stream at 160 BPM. Oh and I grew pretty fond of these jumps over time too.

Another reading reading map, but this time it's AR 9 reading map! What is so satisfying about this map is the rhythmic placement of notes and how those are coupled with jumps leading to overlaping sections and notes.

The absolute banger of a song aside, this map is pretty solid on the enjoyability index as well. Its main motif are note triplets put in rhythmic fashion. @A_childIGuess just map on 1/4 beatsnap divisor instead of 1/9 and it should be better.
actually you do have stuff snapped to 1/4 but on the wrong ticks, play the song at 50% speed and listen for when the sounds happen. unsure why you uploaded with the editor in 1/9 though. Timing point itself seems good.

It's in February 2020.
Though it's not stream or tech mostly, but the way mappers interpret the map into making a decent map - at insane or expert difficulty is amazing.
I'll take that as an inspiration for 5* limit.

The reason why it's a reasonable condition was because SR at that time lacks too much in order to properly indicate the actual difficulty, to the point where people could make anything Expert-ish whilst maintaining the 4* limit. The contest restriction is for people to experiment and find out the workaround, whereas this one requires us to only map anything Hard/Insane-ish to cater the judges' playing experience.JustABeginner wrote:

Coincidently I don't see them mapped many <5* diffs in their profile (if there are, it's looks to be because of ranked reqs instead of voluntary). They seem to specialize in higher diffs, which is strongly indicative this contest is not for them.

if your only baseline of a good map is tech or streams, your view of mapping is extremely skewed and you should reconsider your ideals.
there are hundreds of featured songs in this game and there are definitely a good amount of songs you can make a GOOD <5* map of :3

No pattern recognition (patterns are completely different even if the beat is repeating)
bad timing
No rhythm
super Low bpm. Not possible for even alt players because the rhythm is not consistent
The AR is too high for the map
CS is preference but with such a high AR and low bpm patterns, it become very annoying to play.

Other than that the map is damn solid. Not for ranking of course thought when It comes to enjoyment its very good, Love it
