By virtue of this post being in the Off Topic subforum and not in like, any of the actual mapping ones, one can probably assume that it isn't meant to be serious in any way. It's a silly mapping contest for a silly subforum, and I think arguing any further would just be running in circles.Dank_Memez_101 wrote:
And maybe not call it a mapping contest or at least explicitly state its not supposed to be taken seriously
It's OT. If something is posted on OT or is OT related, it's expected that a thread's quality is either garbage or not guaranteed. Else this would've been posted on the MD forum instead.Dank_Memez_101 wrote:

its not about having a qualified judge, rules that make total sense or being like any other contest you saw somewhere in the forums, its about being a OT thing, I wont invite some random that knows about mapping just because he knows about mapping, but I'll invite abraker because he is fucking abraker the locker and everyone knows him and likes him.
I wont bar names I never saw before because they can be future denizens, but one thing that its getting on my nerves is new people comparing this to another contest that they saw/participated

My man ur trying to run a mapping contest without a single mapper. Ur doing it for fun but ur formatting it like a formal mapping contests so why are you surprised it's being compared.
And the fact that ur calling this a mapping contest is getting a bit on my nerves too since this isn't really even that since the actual quality mapping is probably not going to determine the actual winner.
I get for fun but if ur gonna do something informal at least make it aparent because the forum post came off more as a "I don't know what I'm doing"
And maybe not call it a mapping contest or at least explicitly state its not supposed to be taken seriously

I can confirm that we will actually judge the map by the map itself; it's called a mapping contest for a reason.Dank_Memez_101 wrote:

what did you expect sir, that I made typos and shit? something well made is not equal to something professional, this was made with a lot of care and time for OT, a subforum that I fell in love in the past few months, dont bother me with your nonsense anymore, this discussion got long enough already.Dank_Memez_101 wrote:

A fun and creative little circle-only reading map. It is set up such that you have to listen to the rhythm and then tap the circles. The catch? Low AR, irregular rhythm, and a sprinkle note clusters.

nvm I gave up, the rules are just too bullshit for me and like how tf can I map a stream, or tech map but can't go more than 5 stars. These judge preferences are makes 0 fuking sense. To make a good mapping contest, it must aim at the map quality, not these bullshit rules that give you 0 for a stupid reason and the judge also seems to have no experience with mapping.
I think the winner of this contest probably be someone who just can do all these unreasonable judge preferences than someone who actually good at mapping.
I actually agree with aiq and Dank_Memez_101 that this mapping contest is shit.
The reason why it's a reasonable condition was because SR at that time lacks too much in order to properly indicate the actual difficulty, to the point where people could make anything Expert-ish whilst maintaining the 4* limit. The contest restriction is for people to experiment and find out the workaround, whereas this one requires us to only map anything Hard/Insane-ish to cater the judges' playing experience.JustABeginner wrote:

actually you do have stuff snapped to 1/4 but on the wrong ticks, play the song at 50% speed and listen for when the sounds happen. unsure why you uploaded with the editor in 1/9 though. Timing point itself seems good.

I think the map type you are going with is "techy". Though the CS and AR is not good for the star rating of this map
Patterns don't represent the beat
No pattern recognition (patterns are completely different even if the beat is repeating)
bad timing
No rhythm
super Low bpm. Not possible for even alt players because the rhythm is not consistent
The AR is too high for the map
CS is preference but with such a high AR and low bpm patterns, it become very annoying to play.
2/10Lean Laugh Love:
Solid map, everything is good, easy to understand rhythm, good timing. There is no way you made it in such a short period of time.
8/10Zoz
The map is solid. Though I think AR8 will be best since using AR9 will make the map fast and the patterns you used are much more enjoyable with low AR.
Some patterns are really-really hard to read for ex- 00:05:742 (7,8,9,10,11,12,13) -

Other than that the map is damn solid. Not for ranking of course thought when It comes to enjoyment its very good, Love it
