DIOOOOOOOOO #2
Alright, that's it. As I said in my previous post, I believe the lower diffs need more work than the higher ones. I hope this mod helps you in any way.d / don = Don Note
D / Don = Don Finish
k / kat = Katsu Note
K / Kat = Katsu Finish
abekobe = d → k / k → d
General:
Shouldn't the first Kiai have audio volume of 80% like the second? Or 80% for first and 90% for second Kiai?
I miss the hitsounds orz
[Kantan]
00:08:769 – To make up a better spread with Futsuu, either add a note here or delete some in Futsuu.
00:39:369 (57,58) – CTRL+G these notes to keep the abekobe (reversed color) consistent with the rest of the Kiai?
00:43:269 (63,64) – Try changing these 2 notes to kats? With this, you can give better impact on the descending pitch on 00:43:869 (65) – (which is apparently 1/2 but you can't map it as such), and you have a nice abekobe with 00:48:069 (70,71,72) -. As an alternative: For the first mentioned triplet, try dkd, and for the second one kdk. With this, you can complement the peak of the synth pitch on 00:48:069 (70) – better while still maintaining the abekobe which appears quite often in this diff.
00:55:269 (81) - could be d, this is supported by the drumset having the snare on the next tick, it gives more impact on 00:55:569 (82) - regarding the pitch and creates slight pattern variety to 00:57:669 (85,86,87) -.
01:12:969 - I would've expected something like a 1/1 triplet here, since any other diff does something which stands out from the rest of the stanza here, but that is just a minor thing.
01:30:669 (118) – change this to kat to match the pitch and for a bit of variety in coloring?
Not a fan of the structure in second Kiai, you're breaking up the abekobe-ish (wow how many times did I say this word now lol) structure completely here using kkd as the lead pattern throughout. Consider doing something about it, either in the first, or second Kiai.
02:15:069 (62,63) - I'd CTRL+G this, to complement the synth pitch on 63 better.
[Futsuu]
Still, I believe that this diff should use 1.4x SV or at least 1.3x, 200BPM 1.4x SV is not daring at all, in fact, lower SV can make 1/2 patterns look too dense which might confuse beginners. If you have a good reason to keep it, then do as you like.
First Kiai: I don't really understand why you're using different break times between each pattern. Since there are mostly 3/1 breaks (which don't seem to be intuitive to me in the first place but whatever, you're the mapper), having 2/1 breaks within this section makes the whole concept inconsistent. I'm not quite sure what you'd prefer doing here but I assume that you want to keep the 3/1 gaps for longer break time. As such, you should delete the following notes:
00:23:469 (47) -
00:33:069 (78) -
If you want to map it the other way around (2/1 gaps between each respective pattern), fill the 3/1 gaps with notes.
00:39:669 (98) – Finish like you did on the other difficulties?
00:40:869 (101) – change to d to match the bass.
01:12:669 – add a note here? With this you can avoid the iffy 3/1 gap and give better impact on the 1/2 triplet right after, currently it looks pretty weird as it stands out too much for no real reason.
01:18:069 (4) - This is the only diff (except GD) which doesn't have a finish here, was that intentional?
01:27:669 (14,15,16,17,18) - I've compared this with both the beginning of this diff and the other diffs and found this to be inconsistent with both of them. So, I'd suggest either CTRL+G'ing 01:28:869 (17,18) - or 01:27:669 (14,15) - + 01:28:269 (16) - to k. Which one you choose is your decision, though.
01:36:969 - add a kat here? Currently the gap sounds odd with nothing mapped to the peak of the melody (I'm sure you actually had a note here before the last update).
What I said about the rhythm gaps in the first Kiai also applies to the second of course. I'm pretty sure you know what I mean, if not, feel free to tell me so I can clarify things.
02:02:169 (22,23) – CTRL+G these, has a smoother flow to it and suits the melody better.
[Muzukashii]
I didn't notice it before, but don't you think the SV changes are quite harsh? Normally Muzus barely have any of them at all, and you're using 0.75x here which feels reaaaaally off. I do understand that you want to use them, but at least nerf them a bit here, so it is introduced better to the set and for better contrast to the SV changes in Inner Oni.
00:24:069 (76) – and 00:28:869 (102) – Both could be dons, flows better and gives the structure a nice effect switching between k ddd and d kkk (abekobe) with each measure.
00:25:269 (83) - 00:27:669 (96) – These look out of place regarding structure, change both to d to keep it consistent. Maybe you can find something to avoid repetition of these 1/2 5-plets?
00:36:369 (142,143,144,145,146,147) - Currently you're using this pattern 3 times in a row, unlike in the first half of the Kiai. Why's that? This looks blatantly copy-pasted and lazy, honestly. At least change this specific one to something like 00:38:769 (155,156,157,158,159,160) - this.
00:43:569 (176) - kat sounds nice here.
I'll skip the second Kiai at this point, you should get the idea by now.
[_yu68's Oni]
00:20:169 (78,79,80) - I think this can be improved. Try something like this?
This way, you can follow the drums more accurately and get better emphasis on the melody through spacing between 00:20:169 (80) - and 00:20:319 (81) -.
01:03:894 - I can hear 1/4 sounds here, add a note? Or rather not due to the calmness of this part?
Otherwise solid diff.
[Inner Oni]
00:06:069 - Just a little idea: Since this is the highest difficulty and it already utilizes SV to emphasize the less intense parts, consider adding some green lines with continously rising SV until 00:10:869 - to make the buildup look more appealing? This is not a must of course, completely up to you.
00:11:919 (28) - Consider changing this to k, I noticed the structure between the first two triplets of each pattern itself (more precisely, 00:11:769 (27,28) -, 00:14:169 (46,47) -, 00:16:569 (66,67) -, 00:18:969 (86,87) - ) is dd - kd - kd - dk. dk - kd - kd - dk would look more polished.
00:33:444 (216) - Move this note to 00:33:294 - and change 00:33:519 (217) - to k so you have so you have ddk d here? With this, you can catch the drums and the overall melody + background synth better.
00:53:169 (372) - Current doublet doesn't look nice. dk looks, sounds and plays more intuitively, even if the usage of doublet pattern feel repetitive then.
01:01:044 (431) - Move this note to 01:01:194 -? The 1/4 which you're mapping actually lies on this tick and it gives the structure of this section more consistency.
02:05:694 (831) - Change this to d for better flow?
D / Don = Don Finish
k / kat = Katsu Note
K / Kat = Katsu Finish
abekobe = d → k / k → d

While I agree with you that Muzu introduce harder patterns, I believe that it is overdone in the second Kiai. Again, usually you wouldn't see a lot of ddk kkd dkd kdk things in other ranked mapsets at all, and honestly, pattern-wise it feels more of an Ura Muzu / Lite Oni than an actual Muzu.xfraczynho wrote:
Playing muzu is about getting more hard triples through the mapset difficulties
That is actually the case here, though (if you see the 2nd Kiai as a whole part of the song). If you want to use them, then consider nerfing some at least (for example, get rid of all dkd so there are only kkd and ddk as non-mono triplets) unless you can give a good explanation on why you believe they should be kept as they are right now.xfraczynho wrote:
