I honestly think people caring so much about the ranking system (which is known to have its flaws but is still decent) is a greater issue.
All you would need to do is check someone's top plays if they were a so called "disgusting" touchscreener and you could instantly dismiss them as "bad" in your own opinion.
The general consensus is that people who rank up with nomod maps are better and people who farm dt maps suck, so couldn't you just make the same deductions from "touchscreen" farmers? (please note I think touchscreen plays are cool)

Touchscreens do seem like the most natural way to play this game I've seen. It's just taking out unnecessary instruments from the way of playing game. No need to learn how to control a mouse/pencil to aim when you can do it with your fingers most of us are already pretty good at moving around. If it makes the maps too easy, it is a problem with maps and there should be harder maps that are enjoyable and give a challenge to play.
For a game that's based on point and click on a 2d static plane, I don't see any problem in using a 2d plane you can click on to play.

do people think use of touchscreens is cheating?I think one guy is crying that it is and he is actualy a laughing stock here, running every now and then to mod and cry becouse someone properly quote him but his reading abilities are pretty much non-existant, nobody ever takes him serious.

As for the kind of touchscreen; based on the few touchscreen computers I came across, ELAN seems to be pretty common (pretty sure it isn't advertised as a hardware spec in most cases; someone would have to poll USB info on whatever computer you look into to verify it). The one I have seems responsive, and under Linux it claims to run at 1000Hz.
I use a HP Pavilion P120NR x2 (Amazon appears to have the last one for cheap; usual price is $600+). A 13" tablet is pretty large, but fun for osu! :p
