To lock inactive threads after like 1 year or smth of inactivity

That's it
VoidGod
Doesn’t [Archived] already do that my guess?

no

The forum software this forum is older than my grandma and it will create extra work for GMTs for no real reason. If it is one year old, it is dead and it isn't visible. If necros happen, shit happens.

They said to lock inactive threads, never said it had to be automatic

I think that not being automatic would be problematic for GMTs, and being automatic would continue to be problematic, for other reasons (unless it's more than a year, then it makes sense).

I wonder why nobody thought of that :clueless: @Blushing

I think there is merit in locking some subforums' threads after a year or so of activity, ideally they can always ask a GMT to unlock it so they can type in it and revive it. Though, I think the most necros come from like two places: help and OT.

but it seems like the peppsters thinks its good idea

I get it if it was implemented but personally, from a user perspective, I don't think is something we need

Seems okay at first glance but I'm sure in OT we can find example when 1 year necro would be accepted.

It would be extremely rare and if it's actually a good reason a gmt could unlock it.
Shit necros happen all the time though.

I think that if this were implemented, perhaps it could also be implemented so that whoever created the thread can still post in it (if it was locked due to inactivity), unlocking it for everyone too. But I don't know if it's very difficult to implement this, or if it's really a good idea. Maybe I'm just tired and sleepy and I had a really bad idea.

Making threads autolock isn't complicated apparently but making exceptions for OP seems like a lot of work for something that would barely ever be useful.

No.

No, no, no. This cannot happen. At all. Otherwise, how are the Extremely Funny & Hilarious Necroposters gonna do their thing? We cannot deprive them of that. We must let them keep necroing threads pointlessly.
