hearing that phrase always annoyed me as a kid. not only is it a lie, it's an excuse for lazy parents with daughters that get easily impressed. Sadly, my parents were lazy parents, with 2 boys and 1 daughter that got easily impressed. Basically, one day my dad was flicking through the channels on TV with sister, and found sailor moon. sister showed a clear interest in the show, and asked dad to keep it on. so he did. guess what? because of that, my mega drive was going to go cold and dusty in, let's say, 3 weeks. so, each day after school, sister gets to go to the TV and watch sailor moon. I'm too slow (haha, funny sonic reference11!!) and i can't make it to the tv to play sonic 2. for the first 4 days, i wasn't annoyed. i was happy she took an interest into something that wasn't annoying me. i even watched alongside her, although i won't say i enjoyed the show. but, as the days turned into weeks, i was starting to get pissed. i ask my mother, "Why does sister always get to use the tv?". to which she responds, "because she watches a show that teach young girls like her about friendship and morals." WHAT THE FUCK MUM? i love my mother, and there's a chance that i will never stop loving her, but god for a 7 year old i was pissed. ever since then, any time i hear someone say "sailor moon helps teach young girls independence and friendship" i instantly get pissed. i got to get back on my sega mega drive after my sister's phase ended. guess what? I'm actually mentally sane as of now, she's gone to far off for us to even interact with us. sailor moon taught young girls about independence? yeah no you meant it seriously!
