Setting

November 10, 1943. It's been 2 years since you and your family's initial capture by the nazi officers who sent you to the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Since then, you have been painfully making a plan to escape the camp, where allied forces are waiting for you. At night, you and your family went through the hole that you made leading to the main gate exit of the camp. The gate is locked and the only way for to open is for a vehicle to leave the premises.

Question

Thinking quickly, you and your family hopped inside the back of an empty van leaving Auschwitz and waited for incoming nazi officers to drive through the gate exit, until your baby starts crying. The nazi officers who are coming to drive the van out would definitely hear it. You try to shut the crying, but to no avail. If you can manage to stop the crying baby, you and your family would be free from the pain and suffering inside the horrific concentration camp. If not however, you and your family are to be caught by the nazi officers, and sent back to the camp, likely waiting for painful deaths. Now... the only way to stop your baby's crying is...

Would you be willing to kill your baby in order to save the rest of your family?

Thing is I'm pretty sure that auschwitz separated families and "disposed" of those who couldnt work so this wouldnt have happened. plus what's on the other end of this drive? Probably more nazis, so even if you got out they'd probably find you at the next stop.

to answer the question though, I don't think I could kill a baby, let alone my kid.

My Explanation
The thing is, by killing the baby, you're only killing one person.
The easiest way to do so is chocking them since they can't really defend themselves.

By letting the baby cry, you're just allowing more people (including yourself) to be killed (Assuming that both parents are present, and there is at least 1 other sibling). And chances are that you and your family member's deaths will be more painful.

Help I might of overthank this situation

also if the FBI is watching, this is a friendly reminder that this is just a hypothetical situation, on a random forum, of a random game

literally saw a short play(?) that's super similar to this a few years ago except it's a bunch of vietnamese soldiers hiding from american soldiers, the female vietnamese soldier basically choke her baby to dead to make it stop crying

Think about it

First the both husband and wife will have terrible life there and the child also will have terrible life in the camp. So killing it will be the best option

Result

You put your hands on your baby's throat, gripping tightly, never letting go until the crying stops and no more breathing is felt. You killed your baby. To the family's horror, the act that they just witnessed is truly deplorable. But they understand. Such a situation will always put you under pressure, and you did it for them after all. They might never forgive you, but they are grateful for essentially saving their lives.

The nazi officers hop on the driver's seat and start the engine, leaving the place that you abhor and hopefully, will never go back to. During the ride, the van gets attacked and taken over by allied forces. They save you and the remaining people of your family. You're free from the grasps of the nazis, but the murder of your own child won't excuse you from the law.

You have been charged with infanticide and sentenced to 20 years in a US prison. During this time, your family has not visited you once. They cut off all their ties with you. Your crime has been spreading far throughout the prison. The prisoners treat you awfully. They assault you, verbally abuse you, and torture you. You have no safe zone from the misery. This is the same experience as that camp. Nothing changed at all. Maybe it would've been better if you had never escaped in the first place...

Also, I plan to have no more kids appearing in these moral dilemmas in the future since you guys just love to make children suffer.

we can only make decisions based on the information given and information that can be found

based on the date given, i would guess that the chance of survival would be very low

Nah. Most likely, we would've been worked to death, frozen to death during the winter season, killed trying to escape, killed for conspiring with others to escape, or been sent to the chambers to make space for more healthy prisoners. Only in a very tight scenario of luck and circumstance would we be able to survive, let alone the rest of our family. In that regard, I don't think the baby would survive either way.
