is it just me or does that poem sounds like gangsta paradise?
I'm going to take a minute to try and interpret the meaning of this..
Okay. The first thing that really stuck out to me were the colored, italicized words. I believe that these words are the most important and the most insightful when trying to decipher this "poem", if you can call it that.
First, we see the word "Shuffle." But what does it mean? There are many different ways that a person can shuffle along the floor. They could be dragging themselves along their belly. They could be lazily shuffling their feet. They could be doing the shuffle dance that was super popular in middle school for some reason. Okay, maybe not the last one.
Anyways, after looking at the entirety of the poem, it makes the most sense to me that this person would be shuffling on their belly. The person in the poem says that they are shuffling "along the floor." Now, I don't know about you guys, but this seems to mean that they are dragging themselves, rather than shuffling their feet. Now we must figure out why they are shuffling along the floor..
In the next line, the person in the poem says that their mind is growing tired. There are a few reasons as to why someone's mind would be growing tired. The first most obvious answer is that they are simply tired after a long day. Could it really be as simple as that? Maybe... but I think it's something a lot darker.
If we look ahead at the next line, we see that this person is having their "Last Thoughts." If we then refer back to the first line, we see that this person is shuffling along the floor. Now what happens when we paint a picture with all three context pieces put together? I get an image of a person on the brink of dying, crawling on the floor. Their senses getting weary, trying to hold on to life with whatever energy they have left inside of them. But it is all for not, as they have their last thoughts, of crawling into bed and falling into an everlasting sleep...
