I've been raised with DD/MM/YYYY personally, so I've a bias for that. I can't lie when I say that I didn't think about it all that much and I've only recently learnt that YYYY/MM/DD exists due to my C++ classes course at university where we had to make a class to represent a date.Achromalia wrote:

i think it's satisfying for alphabetized organization and therefore would be an intuitive left-to-right pattern from the largest time unit to the smallest time unit, similar to how file paths start from their deepest originating roots and folders gradually become more granularly precise in contents
i think i also like YYYY/MM/DD aesthetically, but the appearance of MM/DD/YYYY seems to be far more comfortable for my brain partly because most of the month dates are single-digit values, most of the day dates are double-digit values, and the year is a higher double-digit value than the day-value... or of course the year is the full four-digit value which i greatly prefer. and that gradual left-to-right pattern of increasing values is very neat :> and of course MM/DD/YYYY is the date format i've been raised with so there's a bias to my familiarity with it
sensible! although i would wonder about the consistency of that pattern with time-of-day, where there instead appears to be an invisible mirror dividing the two categories of time units and reflecting them similarly to the symmetrical relationship between negative and positive numbers-- a large-to-small-to-large or small-to-large-to-small pattern between these units of time...Winnyace wrote:

As I see it, the day is a more important metric to know than the month or year, thus making it first makes it easier for you to know the time until a specific event.
