There are a lot of obscure medals in the Hush-Hush category and I was wondering if there's like a thing that tells how to get them?

You need to kidnap someone and tell them to hush up or else you will end them

or alternately you can just check this site

Noooooo Shinrun haitai is so outdatedddddddd use https://osekai.net/medals instead for a functional website xd
(And also for the latest hush hush medals)

What would be even better is rewriting all the Hush-hush medal descriptions and hints to actually be useful to you as opposed to requiring an off-site site for them. Not to the point of being outright told, of course, but just so that you can actually reasonably figure them out from the description.

I made a rant about it before but I can't be assed to find it. It's in my post history, tho.

I think you weren't supposed to know how to get the medals...

Extra dumb, then.

Although, I'm not really a fan of hidden achievements or extremely moon-logic achievements, so there's that. I think the one thing about some of the Hush-hushes that really annoys me is that the song-specific ones are drowned out by the nearly-hundred-thousand other maps and sets out there, so you're either taking a literal shot in the dark (that's getting darker every day), or you have to be an obsessive player and play every map and hope you have the right mod combo. It just sucks, imo.

That's why you'll get a medal if you could complete it

they should delay the medals by 6m - 10 years depending on how much the player plays so you can't easily guess why you got it.

Gods, no. That is a fucking awful idea.

Voidedosu, I just dont think you like the concept of hush-hush medals, because what youre complainging about is literally the whole purpose for why they're made, sure they're annoying for 100% but those medals were mainly made for you to find if you did something cool, without hunting for them. Having a hint for them would ruin the whole point because you're not really supposed to look for them, you're supposed to get them by playing the game.

First off, this is literally a reponse to a 2-year old comment. Learn to read timestamps and don't necropost. Or if you're THAT invested in telling me, say it through dms.

Secondly, I actually don't hate the concept of hush-hush medals. Giving players a list of hints to unlock the medals is a cool idea, and while I admit I usually don't have the head nor the time to try and figure out the clues I don't hate on anyone for attempting it. What I don't like is when the criteria for unlocking them is very obtuse, either on purpose or because the quantity of maps to sort through now compared to then is so massive.

Also, saying "you're supposed to get them by playing the game" doesn't really hold much water when you realize that there are people in this world who will try to intentionally find and achieve these medals if they exist, alongside what I think is a natural tendency for us as humans to want to fill this stuff out if we see it. That obviously doesn't apply to everybody due to time constraints or personality, but it's also a big fuck you to the people who are interested in that. Why should they be forced to have an unfun experience doing what they want to do through making these medals obnoxiously difficult to understand in regards to unlocking them?

Again, I'm not really asking for step-by-step instructions (3rd parties like Osekai can do that), but at least make the hints more obvious. If they REALLY want that kind of super-moon-logic style of puzzle, I suppose I can concede to the Expert Hush-Hush having those, but I wouldn't be a fan of seeing a lot of them.

I dont care that its necro D34DLY-VLTG3 needs to be corrected in their ways. "those medals were mainly made for you to find if you did something cool, without hunting for them." Incorrect. The developers of medals are well aware of the existence of the osu medal hunters group which specifically hunt the solutions every time medals get released. The main devs are in the server and take feedback from us with each medal batch, and give us hints along the way to find the solution.

The people who make the medals keep in mind BOTH the people who want to hunt for them, and the people who want to find them on accident.

Medals like "Superfan" and "Equilibrium" are made with the purpose of regular players to find them on their own, and medals like "Not Bluffing" and "Internment" are made with the purpose of medal hunters spending a long time to find their solutions and you would never get these randomly playing. Theres many examples of both of these criteria, im not going to spend hours to name them all.

Okay, in fairness, I didn't account for the medal-makers being intentionaly obtuse for the sake of the hunters, which is completely fine given that it's an agreement between the makers and the primary group searching for them. It does also help that most of the extremely obtuse/obscure/lost to quantity ones are in the Expert category, which implies there's a certain amount of skill in logic or just playing well to actually be able to nab them. Me personally, I'd still prefer there's not a lot, though.

that's the fun of gaming, or so I've been told.

Maybe for some. Not for me except in very rare/specific circumstances. I care about SS's yes, but not to the point of trying to get every mod combo SS on every map. Ain't nobody got enough time (or skill) for that.

Honestly you made good points 2 years ago, though. A lot of the medals have solutions that the two hints they give could fit hundreds of songs and mod combinations. The way we solved Star Power was literally brute forcing every single mod combination that fit the hints (it was a lot) and it took the effort of MANY including myself (and many hints from the developers) to finally solve the medal. It went unsolved for over a month iirc. If a group of hundreds needs a fuck ton of hints, one player does not stand a chance with just the base two.

Many of the medal solutions are just unfeasible for a single player to find on their own with no help from osekai tbh. I believe the medal developers have more obtuse solutions than simpler ones because they dont get feedback from those regular players who prefer the simple solutions. I'm not sure if thats really a bad thing, as 99.99999% of non medal hunters could not give a single shit about trying to solve a medal from the hint and sub-hint. Of course the devs will tailor their work to the main group that cares about it. Their main feedback is from the medal hunter group, who gets disappointed when medal solutions are too easy and get solved immediately.
Voidedosu
I'm pretty sure that puts blame on all three parties (the devs, the non-hunters and the hunters), I'm just not sure how much.

That being said, I do think there should be some simpler ones for the sake of making the "normal" folk actually be interested in trying for them. I don't really know how you get around them wanting to solve the puzzles, and I suspect not a lot of them are going to feel that interested in doing it themselves (hell, I'm not that masochistic). Maybe you can't actually do anything in that regard, but you can work on making them approachable.

I definitely think the older song-specific medals need to be more blatant, if not outright just stating the map at the very least. With over 100K individual ranked maps out there, only the most obessesive will bother to try every single map, and only the most skilled will even have a chance at getting them then.
