Since you're new, I'd recommend trying out heroes from each free week (they automatically show up in your hero selection screen and the selection rotates every week) and seeing who you like. I've made a few buys that I've regretted because I only read the champ's skill set and thought that I would have liked playing them, but once I actually bought them and tried them out, realized that I thought they were boring as hell. Have never played them since and pretty much wasted the IP when I could have bought someone nicer.tyrael6192 wrote:
K so need tips... played a few games coop vs. ai, bought 2 runes, got like 700ip left over: should i buy one of the cheaper champions, or stick with the beginner selection until i can afford a better one?
BTW yes, this means i did eventually get through the queue. *party*
For most normal modes, yes.tyrael6192 wrote:
So, try before you buy. Got it.
Is it the case that you can only have one person playing each hero in a team? So, no team has two of the same heroes?
This, but it's still nice to get accustomed to the rune page and know what you can and can't do.Randy96 wrote:
Don't buy runes till you at least reach level 20 summoner, it's just a waste to use lower tier runes
A lot of people on games like League of Legends are still beginners (or making very beginner mistakes) even if they have been playing for months. XDtyrael6192 wrote:
Well, i've got a few more days of playing during which i can blame all my failures on me being a beginner. After that, either i start getting better or i don'tand i start stabbing myself and quit.=D
Also, with Youumuu's Ghost Blade (not sure of spelling, can't remember it), is it a homage to Touhou/something else or vice versa?
LoL is incredibly different from DotA and HoN. I don't know how many DotA players I showed LoL to, only to have them flip it off and move to HoN.tyrael6192 wrote:
Really? I would have imagined that many people play LoL and other such games because they've converted from DotA and consequently have an intrinsic knowledge of the game mechanics.
XD DotA players are much more likely to have higher stats than you and will be queued with others who have similar stats since they already understand the game mechanics.tyrael6192 wrote:

nah, after a few games you get put on "smurf island" and every game is like 9/10 smurfs.Randy96 wrote:
Smurfs kind of ruin the low level experience =/
Unless you give them advice while you own them then that justifies it

So i played some Twisted Treeline earlier today, and found it much easier than Summoner's - not just in terms of pushes being much easier. I got a lot more early game ganks (as Kassadin) than on Summoner's and got on with mah build much quicker.

It's a bit more complicated but the basics are the same - ganking, farming, teamfights... it's a bit harder in that the items are a bit IMO, but it's got more champions, as is really funTwo wrote:

I dunno bout the others but Udyr jungle is horrible without runesLybydose wrote:
Xin Zhao, Warwick, Trundle, Nunu, probably Udyr
You really need at least 8 points in Utility for the exp mastery though.
actually no, it works just fineRandy96 wrote:

This. Cant wait for DotA 2. I have REALLY high hopes for it, and so does the competitive community. I believe valve have a really high pressure on this one, but again, that's what they're used toTshemmp wrote:
imo LoL does not require so much skill as DotA. You don't have to be good to be good. Ofcourse it has some comfortable functions which the 6 years older DotA does not have. But DotA 2 will solve this Problem.

Which champion can jungle well without specific runes or even masteries? I always sucked at it, but wanna try again.

Heimer and Veigar (rofl) are not weak by a long shot. Veigar does rely on earlygame a lot tho, but well, who does not?Suzumiya-H wrote:

While it doesn't, it provides more "fun" factor, which is what ultimately is what a game should be. LoL is fun because you get to try out different things that you wouldn't dream of seeing in DotA.
As for built in flash, not really, imo what they should look at is the champions that are weak(heimer, veigar etc~ that not many ppl play) this will create diversity in picks which will ultimately benefit everyone.
