the 8 months thing is just a call for attention whores to appear here and have their name on something that doesnt mean shit for them
I feel people that do that would probably that they want to quit by month 6 but they stick around 2 months more so they can have their name be recognised if I had to guess

The denizen process has been talked about and argued about a lot, the reason why the whole contribution = denizen thing isn’t important as the 8 month activity is because the old fags wanna keep denizen more as a symbol of “hey I was here”.
Also, many people believe that by forcing quality contributions into the requirement would make the whole denizen system into a elitist system.
I personally don’t like this type of loose denizen system as I have once made suggest to change the denizenship process however I probably need to wait for all the gen 6 denizens to leave before making any change.

The problem with just having a time based requirement is that it doesn't incentivize making interesting threads (or making threads at all) and ends up giving denizenship to people who just spam low tier shitpost for months (if they've not been bullied out of OT).
Requiring at least some contribution will encourage people to make good threads, or at least try.
