Me and Bitter finished the entire localisation project for Hebrew on our own(game and FAQ). Any idea when it's going to be added? Really looking forward to it (:

well this is actually an old post, I had post this in Feature Request since I forgot that localisation project has its own thread here.(The old post has been moved to Completed sub-forum now, so no worry.)

There are still some texts aren't translated in other languages in osu!, most of them are seen quite frequently, yet they aren't added in the translation table even now, so I wrote this post.

I've done a quick search before posting this, using "translating" as keyword and it seems like no one has posted something about this. If I missed something, please let me know.

User Panel

"Performance," "Accuracy," "Lv." The last one might not be needed to translate though, I think the first and the second could use a translation. Player's whereabouts are also a little awkward. But the current states of player can be translated, I believe.

Error Messages

Although we could tell that we've got problem when we see the red line around that notice box, if we can know more about what just happened, it might make those who don't understand English feel safer. You see, a black screen with 5-second-long lag just happened and you don't know what to do, at that moment, if osu! tells the player that "hey calm down we know things are going wrong and we will fix it" in his/her tongue instead of a notice box filled with foreign language, wouldn't it be reassuring?

Most of them are game error messages, and the another one I've noticed is the one showing up when you're trying to spectate in multiplayer mode.

Descriptions of Commands in !help

Unlike things above, this one is more... server-side, I guess. It won't affect too much if they can't be translated anyway, but still hoping for a chance to make the translation more completed. Yes, yes, I know I am picky.

Speaking of that, the description of /ignore in /help looks wrong, by the way. I am currently using Traditional Chinese version of osu!. You can see a line of English in the picture below, but it doesn't show up in the translation document, only in the game.

Toggle Scoreboard Messages

As the title. They also show up in game often, but there's no translation for them. By the way, in multiplayer, those messages are working well in any mode but Team V.S., you can toggle them but there won't be any message.

Key Bindings

osu! has a variety of key settings which provides player a huge flexibility to customize their osu! experience, but they still can't be translated in to other language, might be a little confusing for people who aren't familiar with English.


These are all of things that can't be translated I've noticed currently.

I am translating zh-CHT version, and it's already 100% translated in the Google document. User menu has been added recently, many thanks, but others are still not added there.

should've been added during the last update, as usual

bancho has a !hebrew but that's it, nothing else was added. can't select hebrew when i try to change my client language, however i can select other languages that aren't even 70% complete.. while hebrew is 100%... come1 ...

it has something to do with t/201364

I've made a large number of changes to the english base localisation. Those interested in replicating these changes across to other languages can use the following as a guide:

The general idea is to standardise all options menu entries to not use title case. In other words, only the first letter should be capital (except for special terms etc.). I also removed all prefixing verbs where not actually necessary (enable, show, etc.)

Because if it's removed you don't know if FPS Counter is showed or hidden

Looks like you had trouble dealing with the Google Doc. I fixed everything. I moved the Icelandic column to the far right, please write your translation here from now.

Edit for everybody: there's a new faq to translate! "bng", line 23 in the faq sheet.

Here are things that still can't be translated in-game till today. Found in 100% translated(as the google doc says) language.

Seems like they are pictures instead of strings. I've heard that osu!next is on the way, please consider making translating these possible in next generation osu!.

These look easier to translate comparing to first one.

Maybe Performance and Accuracy can use translations. And the states of player, for example: Idle, Playing, Watching...

Key Binding

Might help those players who don't understand English very much if they're translated.

Music Player Description

Those buttons tell what they do from what they look, but if they're translated the whole experience will be better in other languages. Or just say I am picky. Both ways can do. Don't forget the All in Jump to window, and the messages showing up when player used one of the shortcut keys.

Making a room / Changing the password / Winning Conditions / Team Modes

Also the Creating room... or something like that message. Maybe the Stars can be translated, too?

!help Description

Some of these commands, including !where and !stats, are frequently used even by normal users. Maybe you can concern adding description for them, if they can't be translated? Since it looks like this works in a different way than /help.

I just finished 100% localization faq from my country Indonesian and fix the words are less clear.

Contributed about 1% to Thai

Fixed a lot of tiny mistakes/inconsistent translations in Russian.
I also went ahead and made some of English translations follow recent events (new features added, for ex.):

1. 250 (MenuTip_5) now mentions Full-screen mode and Letterboxing
2. 353 (EditorTip_8) now mentions in-editor stacks (View → Stacking)
3. 364 (EditorTip_19): changed "Options menu" to "Timing menu"
4. 560 (ChatEngine_Help5): changed example command from search to where, as search is disabled for a [relatively] long time

After correcting your translation, reset its background color to white.

There's also one more thing: can we please have Cutting Edge's translation updated? I feel it differs from that of public builds and is a few months behind.

I've just added this to the spreadsheet (at the top). Please update your languages as soon as possible.

Notification: 8 new lines are ready to be translated at the end of the document.

Player_QualifiedWarning has been added, and needs priority translation.

On Spanish: Player_QualifiedWarning is now updated, as well as the new ConfineMouse lines. Also, improved some translations that didn't actually make sense.

Pretty much i did what trosk did but on the Italian part, i corrected some faq like the chatmod one

I have added a translation for DatabaseHelper_SaveFailed in English and Japanese. Please check the japanese translation sure if the translation is 100%, but I tried my best.

I did a number of small changes throughout the Norwegian game translation, since I believed that many English loanwords (and some other loanwords) had been used unnecessarily, or where I personally believed that the sentence structures were not at their best.

I did see many improvements in Soul Wrath's recent translation compared to how bad the use of loanwords were last autumn, but I still found some things to improve such as Multiplayer → Flerspiller, Input → Innputt, Slangende → Slingrende, Offset → Avvik, and Letterboxing → Svarte bildekanter. I could have been even more conservative and found translations for "Sliders" and "Storyboard", as well as replacing "MSN Live Messenger" with "Skype", but it seemed to me that those three examples were pretty standardized across the translations.

I do hope that I don't count as a vandal or such, which really wasn't my intention, but I figured that there weren't all that many rules that I could find about how the translation procedure is supposed to be conducted. Overall, I just hope I was of help.

The Esperanto translation is 100% finished, ready to be added. Really excited that it will be in the game; thank you so much for the opportunity to translate it, peppy!

I need other norwegians to check the translation. I don't know if it is the correct translation, but i can't see any other way to translate "Gameplay" cause I don't think we have an actually translatin of the word to norwegian.

I have been always checking the FAQ localization, but not for the game client because of some reasons. If you want to help out, you're free to contribute and I will check them someday.

Fixed the german translation for "detect performance issues" which always gave me cancer as soon as I opened the options menu, as well as it's description which was a weird mess-up of singular and plural lol

I'm working and fixing some of the Thai translations.

Fixed a little error in !faq it:color

moved romanian game translation from 30% to 100% completion. I also fixed a lot of existing bad translations, but unfortunately not all of them

changed the description for NC and DT in Indonesian to stay faithful with the English version :p

Added the osu!direct translations for Italian

It seems that Icelandic localisation has dissapeared from the spreadsheet even though some of it has been implemented into the new update for osu.

Finished Hebrew Localization.
Now its 100% done.

Translated from 54% to 59% in Bulgarian section.
Any Bulgarian user is free to revise my translations and continue from there.

just check today and faq tab seems broken, the column does not automatically adjust the length of the text.
