Yet "some parts are lack of objective quality" does not mean that "every claim about lack of quality is objective". I also don't feel "inconsistent spacing and comboing", in this context, has an objective standard, though I agree that the map does not meet the quality standard in various ways.BrosephStalin wrote:
Actually, it is objectively lacking in quality (Sorry, soulfear). The streams are noticeably inconsistent in spacing and comboing, many notes are practically invisible when using default skin, and as Lust pointed out, the lower difficulties are (to say the least) hardly "rankabke." I am currently at school, so I cannot provide specific examples; however you should expect a semi-detailed mod if/when Lust's mod is applied.winber1 wrote:
You know, this never gets anywhere when soulfear is involved, as in it's not really objectively lacking in quality. Over and over again, fear's maps have also had this kind of quality and it's like the stigma of skystar, you either like it or you don't :/ I've always liked fear's maps because of, in my opinion, the fluid kind of flow that he is able to get, and it's a kind of flow I've never been able to get. And go figure, I enjoy skystar maps as well. As a mapper, it's not like my words are coming out of my ass, though.
It just annoys me when people say maps like these lacking in quality, because really it's just an opinion and a debatable one at taht. Perhaps I'm too oldgen now, who knows.
I just think there needs to be more appreciation, and if not appreciation, at least no condemnation. like damn, basic logistical information are whatever, but the amount of hate is unreal.
i guess we'll just see how soulfear responds, but i don't think he'll take these suggestions fully to heart. and i ain't tryna start no argument, mun
I'm looking forward to it~
My point is that, even when the map obviously feels wrong, it is a non-trivial task to list out the actual problems. Making up a list of problems that are subjective is not a good practice. People should really try harder to differentiate between suggestions that correct objective faults and suggestions that are merely forcing a particular view of mapping. I am not saying that the former is not done, I just feel that some of the latter are, inadvertently or not, mixed in.
Again just my two cents. I'm not disagreeing with the DQ itself, just with the justification.
