If we're comparing the amount of S/SS's on the maps, Cry For Eternity may be one, since White Wolf and Cookiezi were the only people to achieve an S for the map.
Streams that require finger dexterity, smaller hit circles require high cursor accuracy, and the song itself is long enough (lasting around 8 minutes).
One of the hardest songs to S.

Literally if we don't include the TAG4 maps, and regardless of when/how many players FC'ed it, 4d is the hardest in my opinion. Cookiezi was the only person to FC it without a difficulty reduction mod, where else everyone else below him who FCed mostly used a Half Time mod.
You can't deny the fact that it is so stamina draining.

It's actually a lot harder to aim those streams at the end than to keep your stamina up to par.

exactly. streaming 222bpm continuously isn't that hard once you hit that level, which is about most of top 1000 or 500 in pp i bet. it's the spacing of the streams that fails almost everyone

Any beatmap with big spaced 200+ streams and fast start patterns is a hard for anyone :3

True... The stream spacing is wider in the last section of 4d when you have to literally accelerate the speed of your cursor

Looked thought most of the thread, but I'm kinda surprised no one mentioned Savage Garden - I Want You

This is candidate one of the hardest maps, in my opinion. (which just a handful of full combo's)

Another one worth mentioning is a Kirby Mix, being quite old still only has 1 FC.

3- Even between those who can, most have not enough stamina to do it through the whole map.

Both those maps are very old and use a style that most people now don't really play at all (old maps = few plays too). I Want You = very low AR and non-sense jumps, Ievan Polkka is nicely mapped yet again it uses a low AR (was it 7?). That Kirby's map in fact has no FC, White Wolf got a slider break iirc. They are all old scores anyways I'm quite sure top players can FC that map if they practice it long enough, which is not possible on maps like Freedom Dive, Kokou no Sousei or Atama (imo). Nevertheless yeah they are very hard ones.

if the map is easy to pass, but hard to fc, then it means that the difficultysettings are ridiculously low (AngeHoney does that often). or that there are some nasty patterns that are hard to fc, in which this statement is true.

Both those maps have pretty much some nasty patterns that are just very hard to hit even while the rest of the map is quite doable.

So why is Lemon Tree seen as such a hard map? It doesn't seem all that hard. Granted, I probably couldn't pass it, but it doesn't seem as "impossible" as people make it out to be.

My vote for hardest map still goes out to awp's extra Impossibly Intense diff in Shotgun Symphony. Someone finally SS'd it a month ago with EZ mod.

Lemon Tree was originally the first map to ever do that, iirc. And it's so 'special' because it was a random noob who made it, and it turned out to be an April Fools joke when staff members decided to approve Lemon Tree on April 1st. The map got deleted though, that's just a reupload.

As of this point I can safely conclude that four dimensions is the hardest ranked map. Everything else is passable to me.

First of all, it's clear that you have to be able to read and play AR10.
The high BPM makes it difficult for mainstream players to tackle. Especially the few long streams in there.
The absence of break times and the length of the song makes consistency essential.
That's what I see, although so I still think 4d would take the win~ :3

Not including troll maps (like the above xD) Freedom Dive (4 Dimensions) is without a doubt the hardest map in the game! Compared to that, all TAG4 maps seem passable (well, not to me, but to people who can actually play this game xD).

TAG4 maps are relatively easy to pass since they have very low HP Drain, playing them correctly is another matter though.

Well that's true, most TAG maps are about 1 or 2 hard parts (if you just want to clear). But all of them are harder to FC than 4D imo.

But yeah, shotgun symphony is probably the hardest in terms of complexity in patterns (4d is just hard because high bpm and long/huge streams).

Excluding all the maps that were made for watching Auto playing, Big Money would be the hardest, of all the ranked maps, TAG4s are the hardest, then Scoapp, nickname for image-material, then stuff like big black, freedom dive, pluto, and everything else, I guess.

From ranked maps id say freedom dive, big black, ghost of 3,13 or image - material

Unranked the most impossible thing i have seen is lemon tree from MillhioreF, serious shit from cookiezi and some random vuvuzela shitmaps. Being possible to pass dunno, maybe some Aqo maps (i dont know very much about unrankeds XD)

PD: i still remember when i saw scarlet rose when i was starting and looked incredibly fast and hard. I cant pass it yet because my reading is shit, but doesnt impress my at all anymore xD

Nothing else is hard to pass.

I actually passed Desire Dream with HR, and almost passed Augo with HR.
They're both OD8 but also only HP6, they're not that hard to pass nomod, gimmicky hard but not hard enough to fit in the "Hardest Beatmap Ever" category imo.

I'm inclined to say Image Material is harder than FDive [4d] because of it's insane 270bpm throughout the whole map. I doubt even Cookiezi can get above 99% on that...

lol he can, rrtyui got 98+ acc untill he broke combo already once (about 1700 combo), and the map is just high bpm, it stil has more passes in a month than 4D has in a year

270 BPM AR10 and it plays like a normal somewhat challenging map with half-time.

near constant 222 bpm deathstreams is still harder simply due to how easy it is to fuck up and miss a note and it spirals out of control.

I can pass image material 90% of the time and could probably fc it with less than 1000 tries. It took me 1200 tries to pass 4d 3 times with C ranks.

Shotgun Symphony+ was mapped for difficulty, and that's really about it. It does a pretty good job at that by having weird patterns that are the polar opposite of flow, and it's harder to nomod FC than even the likes of Big Black or Pluto. Passing is pretty easy though just because of the hp6 and relatively low note density.
