I've had connectivity problems non-stop on this computer for the past two weeks. I've tried everything from the OP, and none of it worked. I've tried running osu in administrator mode, windows XP compatibility mode, uninstalling and reinstalling, and even turning off my firewall while osu was running. None of it worked, as I still get the "Connection failed. Retrying in 30 seconds..." message. Any help would be appreciated.
look the few posts above! No one can get this problem solved!!! What happened to osu!??
It would help by posting your router model.... and which firewalls you use.

I don't have an IRC client on my computer, so I'm pretty sure I wasn't using IRC.
I'm not sure what it could be. I'm not an expert at networking. Your best bet is to ignore this thread, and post in a separate thread. The announcement threads tend to get ignored.
However try this though. If you still can't connect after disabling all your anti viruses and firewalls, and peer blocking programs, then it's most likely a setting with your router that is not allowing the connection or its a problem with your ISP.

Since last night I'm having problems while connecting to the Test Build. However, I can connect to the Public Build without any problem. No idea why... I've tried to restart my PC and the router without any positive result.
I'm able to receive the last updates of the Test Build though, but it's quite annoying because I was (and still am) making several tests with the new HDash system.

So uh.. a few days ago Osu had an update. It didn't do anything but just got stuck so I thought It was my PC.
Anyhow after a few retries it never made an update.
Yada yada.. then..
I decided to copy osu from my netbook and it did update. I then copied it to this computer.
A pop out came asking if I allowed something to access something.
I used tune up on my computer and afterwards It didn't show up. Well yeah uh..
Anyway I tried to connect to bancho and once again, It didn't connect I need help.
Basically my osu version is fresh again. :/

If it is the datacentre, I don't think there's much anyone can do. If it's not, then peppy seems to be asleep and can't fix it at the moment. Either way, it looks like osu! will be down for a while...

it still says server side error but if i play offline my ranks are still uploaded any idea why? not that im complaining.

EDIT: If it helps, I can't access stat.ppy.sh. It just returns a 502 Bad Web Gateway. I can also log in to my web account(obviously). I also forwarded 13381 and 13382 in my router. It's the same as before though, still stuck at connecting at the log in page.
I also reinstalled Osu!.

Additional info on my end: Sometimes my pc lags and when that happens, OSU connects to the interwebz. and when I finish a song, it doesn't send the score!
I've done a lot. Did what this thread says too. Firewall, moved osu to various places, still not working. >.<

I'm having trouble wih Bancho today. I get disconnected every 20 seconds or so. It manages to connect but just cannot stay connected. It was working very well with the exact same config yesterday (same laptop/internet). I don't think it's an issue caused by my internet connexion, because everything else ir running smoothly.
Any idea on how to fix?

As you can see here today there were problems with servers.

Problem is, that darn Connecting phase of the Log-in.
Can't anybody help? I tried everything but slamming my laptop on the floor.

Your client is probably way out of date. Run osume.exe and it should update you to the latest version.

If not, try to allow osu! in your firewall settings.

I receive a "Bancho Authentication failed." While trying to log into Osu! I'm not sure why it even logged me out and I used to be able to play online with no problems. My firewall and router settings have not been changed. I'm not sure what the problem is at all :S
Edit:Seemed to fix the problem. When logging into the website my password has a capital while on the client it doesn't. Peculiar.

Receiving data... only happens on my mobile connection so i think it has something to do with open ports (mobile has all closed vs. this one is partially open).

It's really a wonderful game and I can soooo understand people who are missing it : o
Thing is, Osu! has trouble connecting because of Speedbit Video Accelerator, that I had to uninstall to make it work. Be careful though, you must do a "custom" uninstallation, and not an "automatic" one. Then on each dialog that appears, you have to click "Select all" and then go to the next step with "Next".

I have a problem - it seems that my osu can't connect other than in a time window of few hours in the morning every day (or sometimes just randomly but very rarely). It doesn't work on both of my computers who are connected to the internet but my internet works completely fine and I have absolutely no clue what's wrong. Anyone has an idea how to solve it? thanks <3
help, when i start osu, it doesn't automatically log in. when i tried to click my username in the upper left corner, a notification pops up and say "an error has occured somewhere in osu! and has been reported. osu! will attempt to keep running". i tried to reinstall osu but the problem's still there
it is havent fixed yet? after last update this all happened. i hope they fix it soon...

I want to play with my friends, i can log in, start a lobby, but after a short while i disconnect. First i get removed from the game lobby, (if I was in one) NOTE: my friends can't see me in lobby, but i can still see the lobby. Then I get sent back to the main menu. I've enabled Osu! in my firewall, and made a rule for the ports. I'm not loosing my internet, as i am still skyping with my friends when i drop.

When i started playing, i notices a split second freeze every 2 seconds. A friend of mine suggested repairing osu via the original installer.
I did repair osu, and after re-initialising every song the freeze was gone; however, i wasn't able to connect to bancho ever since. Does anyone know any reason as to why that is? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

i'm running a viao laptop with windows 7 SP 1.
Processor: Intil Core i3-2310M with 2.10Ghz
4,00 Gb RAM
640bit operating system
AMD Radeon HA 6470M video card (?)
My knowledge on these kind of subjects is minimal, so it could be something very simple.
I have tried restarting osu, restarting my laptop and anything suggested above.

My game disconnects from bancho only when I push F8/F9(to see friends),which is weird. It then reconnects after 5 secs, which is a bugger when trying to play online and getting kicked out.
I've tried about all the solutions listed and nothing seemed to work for my disconnection problems.I asked a friend to come test his game on my line and he received the same problems.
Thus I conclude it to be my internet connection - though I have NO problems at with any of my other online games. Perhaps the port is being shaped? Though it should be unshaped for games...Any help?

My firewall allows osu!, ports 13381 and 13382 are open. I can log in, play multiplayer etc.

They put up a notice that they're currently running off a backup bancho server so perhaps just give it some time till they can sort it out and it should return to normal. You can check https://twitter.com/osustatus for future updates.Ascendantt wrote:

I had to wait about 2 minutes to connect the first time after the backup bancho server was removed. Try waiting at the main menu for a while.

I have one friend who is also experiencing the same type of problem as Kalle has. She cannot connect to bancho to get online, though from time to time whenever she has a connection and starts to play and finishes a song, none of the scores she does gets uploaded. It just shows that's attempting to upload the score but nothing happens. She cannot connect to the website either.

That one friend aka me has now access to osu!direct as well as the website, but what really ticks me off is the fact that no matter which song I play, it lags like no tomorrow, freezing the picture and sound every two-three seconds, and the more there are sliders, the worse is the lag. I have had slight lagging before, that's for sure, but after this... fiasco all the game does is lag, lag, lag. No way I can play like this, my combo breaking after 10 hits. I re-installed osu, I even killed my 17k+ beatmaps, my firewall has been up since forever and so far it hasn't caused me any trouble, also there are only a few programs running on the background, less than usual, so it can't be the reason of the lag.
Also, at times osu!direct fails to connect and when switching game modes, the game doesn't change my rank and accuracy slot.

Set the framelimit: You can access that ingame under Options>>Graphics tab>> Frame Limiter: set to Unlimited
Alternatively press F7 ingame untill you see "Unlimited".
OR
Unless you have a reeeeeeealy basic pc and I mean BASIC PC, you should disable some extra effects under the graphics tab and lower the screen resolution.

I tried it already, but it didn't solve any problems. The rest of my games in this computer run well and get laggy after awhile (but after like, 30 minutes or so), when right now, osu starts lagging immediately. I used all the available frame limiter options and all it did was nothing. All extra effects except combo bursts are disabled and that wasn't the problem before either.
Okay, I'm writing this post after having my computer sit for the night, and so far the game has been running normally, although I had to switch from my native resolution 1440x900 to 1024x768 and back for the game to start running smoothly again. So far so good.

I'm having difficulty connecting, as well. I played for well over an hour today, but could not connect at all. Most of my scores, however, were saved. I first noticed this problem today, but the game had been running fine a few days ago.

Ok now it work... all that is weird...
I'm unable to log-in to osu! from my laptop. My brother has an account on here as well, and seems to log-in just fine from my laptop. However, whenever I try to log-in the "Logging in..." or "Connecting..." message appears at the bottom of the screen and stays there. I've waited for over 20 minutes multiple times but to no avail.
If it's anything worth mentioning, my brother's account is older than mine - but only by a few days. I've also updated Java, Flash, and osu! to their most current versions. I have no firewalls running that are interfering with the connectivity.
I really would like to log-in again and get my scores back up! If someone could help solve the problem that would be great. uwu

Whenever I go into osu!, I don't see my stats in the top left hand corner or connection failed. Retrying in 30s...... That's my complaint

I'm having the same problem where it said retrying in 30 seconds but now it's saying experiencing another incoming attack which is EXTREMELY SCARY...
The attack is occuring on server-side, and is called DDoS, which makes you impossible to connect to the server, don't worry, nothing on your end will happen.

All bancho connection problems should now be fixed. Please update to the latest version and try connecting again.

Well did you tried waiting longer time (like 2 minutes?)
Also since you're supporter, you may try test build which relies on new protocol and see if it works.

edit: ok seems like i sloved it by my self by updating over the optionsmenu, kinda weird nothing appear on the opening screen that i dont have the newest vesion

It's not normal, but I broke one particular release, so anyone running that needs to update manually ;x.
