Hi,

I made my own skin from pieces of several others and its playfield doesn't show when I press F2 (random song) but it does show up if I use another skin that wasn't made by myself. I tried to copy-paste those playfield that were showing up and put them in my skin folder but it still doesn't work.
It's not a really big deal, but I'm a bit annoyed by that...

Does anyone have a solution for me pl0x ?
You probably have a custom menu-background image in your skin, try to remove it and see if that would work

It's HeightxWidth, but usually It should be Width xHeight.

I am not sure if someone has asked but I have a question about default numbers and score numbers. Is there a simple way to create them? Is there a recommended font size maybe or typical creation for these? I seem to always make the numbers too small and they are unevenly spaced due to the different width of the shapes of the numbers.

You can use numbers from other skin as a reference (I usually do this if I want to make a skin-element, including the numbers). For spacing, You can add these lines in Your skin.ini :
[Fonts]
HitCirclePrefix: default
HitCircleOverlap: *number*

ScorePrefix: score
ScoreOverlap: *number*
*number* : the number You add for spacing, higher number = closer spacing

Does anyone know if it is possible to prevent stretching of the button-middle element on the mod screen?

It's not possible to prevent stretching for button-middle. In fact, both button-left and button-right are scalable but not stretchable. These two elements are resizable by width, as button-middle can be used as 1 px which is resizable by osu! defined sizes.

You can try to use a wider button-middle to avoid long stretches.

I was just wondering what font size and if i should re-adjust the image size of my numbers so that they are not dis-positioned (some numbers higher than other numbers on the score line).

There is no typical recommended font size since fonts are different and they have different sizes. But I will tell you how I do numbers.
First most important is height of numbers for score try not do go over 45px (90px for HD), for default number try to keep them around 45-55px (90px-110px for HD) size but that's up to you.
Width doesn't really matters here since you can manipulate distance between numbers with skin.ini.

You need a good font that doesn't have numbers with different size, it will make your work much harder. I would like to recommend making your numbers large on new workspace and later, resize and copy them into selected numbers.
When you have your numbers ready, resize them to proper size (just do few tries to see with one will fit your desired height) and save them as correct numbers.

Now you would need some corrections.
First of we need to check if height is proper. Just open one of the numbers (0 for example) and put other numbers onto it, compare and see with one need corrections.

For width, reduce any empty space of canvas you have on them and lave 1-2 px of free space on both sides. As below :

Rest of width problems you can correct via skin.ini

No, even in V2+, although the fadeout is quicker.

The trick is to use hitnumbers as hitcircles, which by look truncates slidertails and also removes the zoom transition (it will fade instead)

Hello! ^w^

I'm trying to modify my skin for Taiko, but there is something I don't know if it's possible to do.

I would like to know if it's possible to make 1 unique face for all the red notes and 1 unique face for all the blue notes.

Example all the red notes would have this face:

And all the blue notes would have this face:

Is it possible to do? And if so, how can I do that?

Thank you for answering my question ^w^

nope. you can only differentiate for normal notes and big notes, not for red or blue.

In the ski.ini there's Color customization. It goes by RGB, so for example: 225,225,225 would be white, Etc.

Resize the ranking panel to 1366x768 and see if that works. If not, try resizing several pixels higher than 1366x768.

I've tried that. Unfortunately it only moves the panel down, blocking the statistics. :(

if you delete them i believe osu will just sub in the defaults by itself, since a lot of skins don't have mania/taiko/ctb support but osu implements the default skins for those modes.

Is it permanently red on V2+ skins? If it is, then I'll just remove red on the image and let the game add the red for me (Though I don't think it will work). :D

Tinting mechanics doesn't work like that. It tints pure white colour 100% and pure black colour 0% with all colours inbetween had it's own corresponding value.
or in another words, it will try to recolour everything to the specified colour (in this case, the element is tinted to red)

So you can't just completely remove all the red in the image expecting the game to add the red then?

Are the "@2x" files just a copy or can you work with them for more detail in the elements (Will they scale down)?
Chaoslitz

TFguy wrote:

elements with @2x means in high quality, and the size is doubled from the original one
Noffy
I know that if a skin has @2x elements and not the standard size elements and you're playing on a non-hd resolution, those elements wont be automatically scaled down making it necessary to have the standard size if playing on non-hd.
Is the reverse the same or will the elements without an @2x be automatically scaled up from their standard size? I can't check myself since my resolution isn't high enough for @2x.
Haskorion
in short:
  1. you use only HD elements and play HD = HD elements are used
  2. you use only HD elements and play SD = default elements are used
  1. you use only SD elements and play SD = SD elements are used
  2. you use only SD elements and play HD = SD elements are used
  1. you use SD and HD elements and play HD = HD elements are used and missing stuff is taken from SD stuff instead of default
  2. you use SD and HD elements and play SD = SD elements are used and HD elements ignored.
That's pretty much it.

No, not short. That's long
--------------------
osu! doesn't scale up SD elements if you're playing in HD because the outcome of "that" behaviour would be horribly ridiculous. Therefore, the 4th situation will happen. (and ignore everything else in the list for this case)

Hi again,

I come with another issue on skinning ===

I compiled some taiko skins and included them into my actual one.

But it appears when i press the drums the colors aren't aligned > Show picture : http://puu.sh/cjRjW/c1598fc7ed.jpg

I've found it could actually be fixed by ADDING 'version : 2.3' to the skin.ini file - following this thread t/238079

Well that is wrong for me. The problem is occuring while i have this version 2.1, 2.2 , 2.3 added in the skin.ini
and it's working PERFECTLY if i REMOVE the "version : 2.3" thing.

But if i remove it then i lose my other accessories like the thumbnails on songs and stuff like that...

Any idea?

"Version: 2.3" with a capital "V".

I looked through the thread and I didn't see anyone mention this (I may have accidentally passed it over, if so, sorry!) so here's my problem: I made an image in photoshop that I planned on splitting into 3 different pictures for count 1 2 and 3 files.
Here's the picture: http://imgur.com/lJ8LmBl
The problem is when I put the 3 separate pictures into the skin they overlap each other like this: http://imgur.com/7IImJUS
So my question is this: is there a way to stop them from overlapping each other like this?
dws123
Did all of them appear from the middle? If yes, then make the skin into Version: 1 to fix
If they appeared from sides then make the skin into Verson: 2+
If that didnt solve then make sure the size fits

Depends on the resolution you're using really
There was a recommended size for it somewhere but i forgot what the value was

I just used my screen size as dimensions so I could place the countdown wherever I want. It's a heavier file but it's a sure hit.

Before patch it made no sound and now after patch when I hit F2 for random it's making a noise that I really dislike. Anyone know what it's called so I can dump a blank sound file in for it?

Edit: seems like it's also the same sound for clicking my friends to start a chat, as well as other menu options like "Mods"

Maybe these but I'm not sure (I'm too lazy to check):

shutter.wav
select-expand.wav
heartbeat.wav
click-short-confirm.wav
click-short.wav
check-on.wav
check-off.wav

EDIT: I lied, it's click-short-confirm.wav

Thanks so much that was exactly what I needed!

This is what I'm supposed to have right? I put it in my skin with the name "click-short-confirm.wav" and put a blank sound on most of the wiki gameplay sounds. I even changed to the cutting edge build but whoosh.wav doesn't work. Nothing I put seems to work ;/

That's the reason why, I bet. A 53 Byte .wav is... err... blank.

I'm sorry. I meant that there is an annoying sound I want to skin to have no sound. I tried all of these
shutter.wav
select-expand.wav
heartbeat.wav
click-short-confirm.wav
click-short.wav
check-on.wav
check-off.wav
and I still can't stop the annoying whooshing sound.
Haskorion
whoosh.wav is missing on that list.
playing on public or cutting edge? regarding changelog from 30 oct it should not appear on public at least.

The list was supposed to be for Traxions's problem. It's the reason why it doesn't have woosh.wav and whatnot

You want to get a sound file that doesn't annoy you or an empty sound file and save it as whoosh.wav

Is there anything wrong with my skin? I have a empty sound file named whoosh.wav. I'm on the cutting edge osu thing. Here is my skin. http://puu.sh/cyt7S.osk

Just for clarification: You can easily hear the sound if you spam f8 or f9 really fast.
