Thanks for the feedback! I was actually messing around with the beatmap for the past few days and I didn't like some of the stuff myself, so I did change it, but I'll take into consideration what you said as wellStealthwave wrote:
First of all I want to say I've never ever modded before and i'm not very experienced with what you "should" and should not have in a beatmap, but i'll try to point out some places you could change in the song.
Were you referring to the 1-->2, the 3-->4, or the 4-->5? I'm not entirely sure. Either way, I changed the notes from 00:02:325-->00:02:659 to something that hopefully flows better.Stealthwave wrote:
00:02:159->00:02:325
I think they are too close to each other, distance snapping isn't followed. I think it feels a little bit awkward.
I ended up reversing the start and end position of the slider at 00:21:159, so hopefully it feels better now.Stealthwave wrote:
00:20:825->00:21:159
I think the notes are too close. It might ruin the flow a bit.
I ended up changing the jump to something that's hopefully more comfortable.Stealthwave wrote:
00:46:159->00:46:325->00:46:492
Jumps here are smaller compared to the notes before. This feels uncomfortable. Try to have the same space whole all six notes.
There's still a stack in the jump-combo, but I changed it so that "4" is on stacked with "5" instead of being stacked with "3".Stealthwave wrote:
00:56:825
This note shouldn't be stacked according to me. I don't know if other like to have a sudden stack in a "jump-combo" but I don't like it. Try to move the note a bit
I ended up moving the note in question closer to the center of the map. Hopefully it flows better?Stealthwave wrote:
00:59:159->00:59:325
Even though it looks symmetric which is satisfying , I don't believe you should have that much of a jump. You have the same space between the notes in the whole combo. That doesn't feel good, try to move the notes after 00:59:325 or make 00:59:325 closer to 00:59:159.
Well, here's to hopingStealthwave wrote:
Those adjustments are not crucial for the beatmap but they might give that extra feel. Otherwise, nice beatmap, hope it gets ranked sometime.
Glad to hear that it flows better, it's still something I'm working onStealthwave wrote:
Nice! The beatmap feels better now about the "flow".
I believe there should be more colours, either more gradiations of yellow or maybe add another color, light blue for example(A bright color ofcourse )
Next thing to work with is the hitsounds, that is a must have in a beatmap. I would suggest mainly using "soft-whistle" and "soft-normal" and sometimes add a louder sound like a crash or a whistle.
This beatmap will need more difficulties in the future. I might be able to help if you want to .
You might want to check out my beatmap as well.
Good luck!!!
PS: Quick question. By giving me a Kudosu will you also get one?

00:04:682 - and begin the spinner here till 00:05:932
01:26:849 (2) - delete this one and add the spinner start here from 01:27:015 (1) so it should be this: spinner start: 01:26:849 (1) - spinner end: 01:27:682 -

No hitsounds (read the queue description, might be able to help you out a bit)
Please give a bit more variety tot he combo colors. They help the player reading the map but also gives a more colorful and pleasant experience when playing. Take a darker yellow and some other colors (this yellow blends quite a lot with the backgroud)
There is no kiai, you might want to add it where the chorus is (starting from 00:49:035 (1) - lasting until 01:10:369 (1) - )
The background image is 1109x768, which is rankable but it's better to use a 1366x768 image. Also the audio file is 128 kbps. Same problem: quality is fine, but if you manage to find a higher quality one it is always appreciated.
Well, at least my rhythm was okayA Mystery wrote:
I think you did a good job on the use of object, rhythm wise. However, the spacing was quite often confusing and there are a lot of overlaps that look terrible. I will try to help you out a bit

Regarding spacing, the patterns you choose are okay, though sometimes a bit weird. At some places (00:08:869 (1) - for example) you did a good job emphasizing a new downbeat, but most of the time you stick very close to the distance snap.
- Fixed most of these gaps using the slider example you gaveA Mystery wrote:
Things like these are confusing 00:18:702 (5,6,7) - because of the gap on the timeline, so consider either moving 6 and 7 more apart (In this case it is better to stick to the distance snap, because otherwise you will cause reading issues), or making 6 a slider/doing something similar to this 00:29:535 (5) - . The latter sounds the best to me and it also makes more sense than making an awkward gap like that. There Same with 00:21:535 (7,8) - 01:04:202 (7,8) - 01:06:535 (5) - 01:14:702 (5,6) -
- In these cases I made the gap bigger between the notesA Mystery wrote:
00:30:035 (6,1) - Also here you are creating an awkward gap, and since there is a new downbeat spacing like this would be extremely confusing in most cases. Consider making 6 a slider/2 circles in order to solve this, though there are a lot more possibilities. Same issue here 00:32:702 (6,1) - 00:43:035 (4,5,6,1,2) -
- I've had it like this for a while now, and I personally don't find it that confusing, but I understand what you mean by it not being too readable, so I adjusted it quite significantlyA Mystery wrote:
00:43:035 (4,5,6) - Another issu with spacing. Most people will simply miss here because you cannot expect the 3/4 gap here. There are several techniques to do this with circles and still make it readable, however a more simple solution would be using a return slider. Testplay the map yourself, don't you think it is confusing as well?
- Yes, because drastic SV changes are the devilA Mystery wrote:
Don't throw around with the slider velocities like that A lot of people use a slightly higher velocity (notice, slightly) in the chorus, but keep it quite consistent throughout the rest of the map. These changes 01:18:202 (1) - 00:56:035 (5) - do not really make sense, but they are also waaay too much. A lot of people will at least get a slider release here because it's suddenly very slow. There is also no reason for the speed up at the end. The SV change here 00:38:869 (4) - does make sense, but is a little overdone. Something like x0.75 would probably fit a lot better.
- Readjusted all the blankets so that they hopefully are more proper this time around. There are probably still some issues, but I think they're better than beforeA Mystery wrote:
00:02:202 (1) - Blankets are fun, however, do them a little more properly. This is an example, but there are a lot more
- Ended up re-positioning most of the map anyways, so I think there are far less overlaps nowA Mystery wrote:
00:12:035 (2,3,4) - I don't think this needs explanation. Overlaps like these do not look very visually appealing. move the objects more apart, and reposition them if you don't want them to go out of the grid. Same issue here 00:20:869 (4,6) - 00:21:369 (6,8) - 00:26:202 (5,1) - 00:26:869 (1,1) - 00:32:202 (5,1) - 00:46:285 (8,1,6) - 00:52:035 (2,4) - 00:53:535 (3,4) - 01:10:369 (1,2,3,5,7,8) - . Especially veeery slight overlaps look bad
- I agree, circle followed by slider fits the flow of the map more than a return sliderA Mystery wrote:
00:13:369 (6) - A return slider does not really fit imo, consider using a circle followed by a slider, since the first trumpet note is rather short so it will emphasize the instrument a lot better. Same here 01:25:869 (4) - . The trumpet plays 2 notes, so a circle followed by a slider would make more sense so you can represent both in the map.
- got rid of all the streams; I was planning on getting rid of them anyways because it didn't really fit after more testingA Mystery wrote:
00:27:285 (2,3,4,5,6) - There is no stream in the music, so you're really overmapping here. Listen to the music and map what you can hear, not what you can't. Sometimes a triple is fine in my opinion, but an entire stream like this not. Same issue here 00:37:952 (2,3,4,5,6) - 00:46:119 (6,7,8) -
- I ended up changing the returning slider at the beginning of this combo into a circle-circle-slider, so the voice starts on a circle now instead of a slider endA Mystery wrote:
01:05:535 (2) - Pretty much every off-beat slider you used was fine, since the slider head represented a starting sound in the music (mostly vocal). However, there is not reason to use it here, since the voice starts on the slider end, which would better be a starting slider or a circle so you can tap it.
- Tinkered around with 1/6 and 1/4 and I agreeA Mystery wrote:
01:27:702 (1) - The sound you can hear in the music is 1/6 and not 1/4 like the current one.
- I'm definitely going to revisit the easy/normal/hard maps and probably end up remapping them entirely or adjusting the distance snap to make it more intuitive and beginner-friendlyA Mystery wrote:
Phew that really took some time to explain. There are basically the same issues in the easier difficulties, and spacing becomes really important then. If you are not sure, using the distance snap will help you avoid the above problems. Especially in normals and easies using the distance snap is very important, or it will become unreadable for most starters. Also keep enough space between a spinner and the next object after the the spinner (looking at the easy and normal >.>)
There's an easier way to assign all the sounds to soft without my having to select all the objects!?A Mystery wrote:
About hitsounding
First of all I noticed how you selected every object and changed the sampleset to soft. However you can use the green lines (inherited points) to do this instead. It is a lot easier that way.
Hitsounding is not as hard as you might think. The best thing to do is to listen closely to the music. Can you hear a cymbal or something? use a finish. Can you hear a drum snare like here 00:06:682 (2) - Slider end of 00:07:015 (4) - Slider end of 00:07:849 (6) - 00:08:682 (8) - ,...? Use a clap to represent it
If you want help regarding this, PM me in game instead, this way I can be a lot more useful than posting a 6516565 sentences long text. Pretty much every more experienced mapper knows how to do this, and there are several that are happy to help you out as well, like most BNs.
Good luck with the mapset!

00:06:712 -> 00:17:045 What is this? 2008 mapping? Try be more creative like adding sliders instead of all these circles (Like map the clarinet/saxophone/whatever that brass instrument is)
00:58:379 (5) - I don't think 4 flows very well to 5 (the shapes are not related via blanketing/stacking/etc. what i recommend is the following--
00:58:379 (5) - shorten to 00:59:045 and...
00:59:712 - add a circle beat (and NC). I feel as though the beginning of the second run-through in the chorus should be clickable
01:01:045 - try this rhythm here because of the same reason as mentioned above
01:02:379 - if you do the previous mod, NC here. or else NC at 01:03:045 (8) - but it'll feels a little bit weird
01:10:379 (5) - NC
01:13:045 (7) - NC

- Please remove the commas from tags, this will not allow people to look for more than just one tag.
- Because 'Rhodanthe*' seems to be used only for this anime, so it is not very famous, you should include names of singers in tags:
西明日香 (romanised Nishi Asuka)
田中真奈美 (romanised Tanaka Manami)
種田梨沙 (romanised Taneda Risa)
内山夕実 (romanised Uchiyama Yumi)
東山奈央 (romanised Touyama Nao)- You might want to use custom hitsound for the clap, because it currently feels a bit out of place when there is loud clap, while music contains a simple snare. I think this one fits really well.
- I think there should be a better mp3 available, try to look for it, because it sounds like some parts are a bit distorted and start is really low volume.
- Muting soft-sliderslide with this file would be quite good, because you are sometimes using 100% volume, which makes the sliderslide do a lot of noise, so muting it is probably the easiest way to fix this.
- did what you recommended at 00:05:879, but as a result of it the distance snap got all screwy and I ended up having to remap quite a bit of the easy difficulty. I think it's a lot better than what it was before thoughWafu wrote:
Easy
- You have to use hitsounds. In case of this map, it is enough to use grumd's hitsound copier and hitsound the notes which are missing, they were not many, so it is just few minutes of work.
- 00:05:879 (4) - Move this slider somewhere else, you might do something like screenshot below. The problem is the slider is hidden under previous slider which is not so cool on easy difficulty, because the player will barely react to this, especially when he has only something about 350ms to react
- 00:27:712 - You start to break new combo consistency and sensibility here and you make the combo lengths inconsistent. That will result in messed up HP gain, which is especially important on low diffs. Previously you used NC on each 3rd downbeat, but while it still fits music to be used like before, you just started to use them variably.
- decreased AR and OD to 4 and 4 respectivelyWafu wrote:
Normal
- Same issue with hitsounds as Easy
- Difficulty is very high considering it is only Normal. I recommend to decrease AR and OD by 1 and then increase the combo count. Currently the combos are long 7-10, which is really inappropriate for normal. Try to keep them under 6, I recommend each 3rd downbeat.
- 00:18:379 (3,4,5,8,9,10) - These two patterns are very annoying. Rhythmically it is fine, but it doesn't fit with the pattern. It is all overlapped and focused on one place so the approach circles will be mixed together and someone who is able to play only Normal will just simply miss there because he will get lost in this. I hope you might understand what I mean. I suggest to remake them so every part of it is perfectly visible in natural way without overlaps and other traps or you might use a bit different rhythm, but that's up to you.
- 00:27:045 (9,10,1) - This might be also problem for newbies, because he is most likely not gonna expect a circle between two sliders stacked together, so make it just simple and remove the circle and move the slider somewhere else, or make this with regular distance snap.
- 00:19:711 (6) - Slider ends on 00:20:377, but it must end on 00:20:379, because current position is out of timing point, this might have been caused by offset change.
edit: worked on hard on April 26, 2015. here's what I did:Wafu wrote:
Hard
- You should decrease the AR by 1, because you have Insane diff and it will fix the spread a bit. The problem here is Insane has 9 AR, while it is definitely wrong, when it is quite a chilling map, just doesn't fit the song nor map, then you should decrease AR of Insane to 8 so it is a bit more sensible and whole settings should be fine.
- 00:13:379 (5,6) - I don't know if you know it, but be aware that this kind of pattern is often considered as unrankable unless it plays extremelly well, what it doesn't there.
- To be honest, as a hard it is pretty fine, balanced and so on, but just go through the difficulty and fix the antijumps. You are sometimes using the same distances for 1/2 notes and 1/1, which makes player click earlier than they are supposed to.
edit 2: worked on insane on April 27, 2015. here's what I did:Wafu wrote:
Insane
- As I reasoned in Hard diff, reduce the AR to 8.
- 00:07:047 (3) - The slider is on 00:07:047 while it must be on 00:07:045, because it would not be snapped to the timing.
- 00:24:545 - The clap doesn't fit there very much because the snare is on 00:24:712 in real. If you used the custom hitsound provided in General, try to find all missing snares. That would increase the map's quality a lot. Those are for example 00:29:379 - 00:30:045 and more.
- 00:48:712 - Reduce the volume, it is currently ideal for ear-bleed. Whistle spam is not really cool on that high volume.
Conclusion: Needs some improvement

00:03:045 (9,10,11) - imo makes this consistant (either two sliders or 4 notes)
00:07:045 (3) - not snapped on white tick
00:10:629 (6) - there's no sound on this tripple but I guess a bit of overmap is ok
00:16:712 (4,5) - move these a bit down so that the 5 can overlap on the 00:15:545 (1) - ?
00:22:879 (3) - split into two circles?
00:31:879 (6) - ^
00:32:212 (7,8) - rather make 8 return slider that starts on 00:32:545 and 7 slider which ends at 00:32:379
00:43:045 (9) - 1/4 slider or a 1/2 slider that ends into 00:43:295 (10) -
00:43:379 add a note that stacks on 00:43:295 (10) -
00:44:045 (3,6) - I'm guessing these were suppose to overlap
00:46:879 (4,2) - these too
00:55:045 (3) - this might be better if split in circles
00:58:879 (10,11) - there's beats on blue ticks in this part that are ignored
00:58:545 (9) - maybe split this into two circles aswell
00:59:712 (1) - slider?
01:00:379 (3) - split
01:02:712 (2) - I have a feeling this note needs to be emphasised more.
01:07:712 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - note exactly sure why the 2nd part spacing is so small compared to the 1st part. I mean I hear the same beat?
01:14:379 (4) - if you mapped on vocal here then ok but beat is strong here too
01:15:379 (6) - it's empty beat, if you didn't want to leave this clear, just make the slider reverse arrow 01:14:712 (5) -
01:19:962 (6) - same as 00:10:629 (6) -

01:11:879 (7) - Copy 01:10:879 (3) and replace this slider with it
01:16:879 (4) - Off the screen

00:03:212 (4,5) - why the anti-jump here, it's weird
00:21:879 (7,8) - I think you should unstack this as it halts movement
00:29:878 (8,9) - ^
00:38:379 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) and 00:41:045 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - are similar in music, yet the former one is much more spaced out, some common balance would be good
01:00:379 (3) - it feels different from 00:59:712 (1,2) - unstack 3 from those 2 for more emphasis of the new vocal line, which isn't a held vocal
01:26:879 (4) - add finish on slider start?
Hard
00:13:545 - something should start here instead of having a slider end here, with the trumpet holding on in the music
00:16:712 (8,1) - don't let them touch each other, your objects with the usual spacing do not do so, this is irregular and isn't nice, sticks out
00:28:879 (3,4,5,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - why the sudden decrease in spacing?
00:31:212 - missing the strong beat in vocals
00:42:712 (5,6,7) - I rather you repeat the 3/4 rhythm rather than the 1/2 rhythm before that
01:00:379 (2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - why the sudden decrease in spacing
The random spacing doesn't make sense, it's not intuitive here. It makes it unpolished and more complicated
Normal
For Normal either stack 00:04:712 (3,4) - 1/2 rhythms or 00:08:712 (4,1) - 1/4 rhythms, don't further complicate things by having both sometimes use stacking
Easy
01:05:045 (1) - I won't recommend multiple repeat sliders in Easy
01:17:379 (3,1) - 01:20:045 (4,1) - keep things in Easy to at most 1/1 beat apart between objects. Only these 2 are like this, it comes at the end and is quite a surprise
Good Luck

2) 01:27:879 The spinner should have a finish sound. Try this hitsound: http://puu.sh/jEbmv/5c158ec070.wav
3) Is there a way for you to compress the vid size without losing quality to reduce download size?Normal1) 00:17:045 Make the arrow shape more symmetrical.

Final thoughts: There is not much for me to mod since a lot of things are A-Ok in my opinion. Of course when playing insane it took me a few tries to get it but it works. There are a few minor things that if fixed can make a huge impact (that is what I think).
