Ultimate unsuccessful post guide

Pre-tense:

I have spent the last 3 days testing different iterations of what the most unsuccessful post on OT could look like.

I tested 3 different styles of posts.
  1. A post about very niche topic
  2. Engagement-bait/highly interactive post, but I don't reply...
  3. A unfunny shit post (not a shitpost but a shit post)
Note: all post metrics are over a 24h period

Niche Topic (ITT: We Act like M45T3R H4ck3r5):

This Post was mainly focused around writing a entertaining and engaging post around a ultra niche topic.
In this case the post was about PGP encryption and the goal of the post was to teach OT users how to use PGP.

Post Metrics:
  1. User replies: 10
  2. Total views: 69

Engagement-bait (OT Psych Evaluation...):

The premise of this post was pretty interesting (imo). Yet as much as I wanted to reply to people I couldn't. I thought this post would be the most unsuccessful or the most successful or the least.

Post Metrics:
  1. User replies: 12
  2. Total views: 77

Shit Post (OT GMT POV:):

The objective for this post was to make the most unfunny thing possible that wouldn't get locked. This is what I came up with... Not much to say-

Post Metrics:
  1. User replies: 12
  2. Total views: 57
Interpreting the results

I made some cool graphs (nerd shit):

As you guys can see, all the posts preformed more or less the same. (within the 24h period)
But it's worth noting that ITT: We Act like M45T3R H4ck3r5 later got more activity.
Conclusion

To make the most unsuccessful post just make something that is hard to engage with or few people understand. I would say a mix of the first 2. A niche Shit post would be the optimum way of preventing engagement and making a overall bad post.

To be honest I'm not really much of a master baiter... I have some pretty poor stroking technique

Nah I think it was more than niche enough, people here are tech literate and enthusiastic, but OT isn't that knowledgeable about tech. Ofc we have some tech-gods in here. but not many people I've seen fall in this category.

sadly I've never gotten the chance to see abraker display his tech knowledge. But out of curiosity was cool things has he done? I know he works/worked on a something to do with PP calculations...

It's pretty ironic ngl, guess I accidentally took my own advice and applied it to this post...

No but fr, I really do wonder what factors make people click on threads and reply to them.

Personally I would say
  1. Engaging Title -> shorter titles tends to be better
Some of best performing posts right now are:
    1. "Exile"
    2. New idea
    3. OT mall
  2. Easy to understand premise
  3. some sort of open ended question/clear format to reply
Bonus: Any post that has a premise of knowing what X user thinks of you will be hyper-successful

It is very interesting to observe what dictates the underlying meta in OT.
maybe I'll make some sort of competition? the user with most cumulative interactions & views on their threads each month gets supporter. (I can see this going very wrong...)

similar to Ymir's Thread of the month

I think you're overthinking, making threads that get a lot of posts shouldn't even be the goal of any ot user

it's not my goal either, I was just curios with the dynamic of what makes a post successful.

I miss making threads... I mean, technically I've been working on Pokémon OT!Red for months (though it's been 0% productivity and 100% procrastination), but it's been a long time since I last posted one. Also, just because I have 90% less time than before, it doesn't mean I have no time at all. I think I should make a new thread soon, or maybe work on a new chapter of the OT! Manga, since I miss working on it. Ideas are the least of my problems.

Ultimate tip to make a unsuccessful thread: make an advertisement about yourself. The cost is everyone will hate you if you do that...

let people be happy, if they're stressing about it then I doubt it would go for much longer
