If you want to check it by yourself before reading this thread:

TL;DR: It's a soft version of Squid Games but with 1000 persons, 5 millions of dollars + other prizes and of course: Mr. Beast.

I never felt such cringe when watching a show like this. Seriously this is literally Squid Games without deads. I watched the season 1 of Squid Games (didn't watched Season 2 yet so please no spoilers) and this still have this weird and scary feeling of people ready to do anything for the sake of money, even sacrificing dignity. For real this is some psychological horror, but with REAL people, despite the joyful atmosphere this is trying to create.

I somehow even seen a scene later in the episode on YouTube when there was a scene where there was a team of 100 (like in 22-23 minutes iirc), and a girl started the game too early, causing her entire team to loose (and got 99 ennemies immediately). I can't imagine how devastating this can be for someone being shown like this, maybe her life is ruined because if this little mistake. I was literally like this --> O_O.

To be honest this is just some kind of Black Mirror dystopian shit, but this is real, and only one step away from Squid Games. This is scary how powerful money is it and how much Mr. Beast has power just because he's rich as fuck, and through this show, this "power" is used irresponsibility. Didn't watched the later episodes (and I won't) and I wouldn't be surprised if a few lives gonna be ruined (even if this isn't the intent of Jimmy), or people being ridiculous just for the sake of entertainment (and money), and I believe people would have to be real douchebags at some point if they really want to win.

The goal of Squid Games is to show how dark and greedy hoomans can be just for material shit. To show how much power the money (and by extension any excessive possession of things) has, and described as something we should avoid. Of course there are people struggling with their life because of their lack of money, lives so shitty they think that having at least a tiny chance to get enough money to live is worth it, despite the risk of dying (Squid Games) or losing their dignity (both). And the show trying to make jokes and laughs about people in despair is just in my opinion cringe, and show how little care/empathy they have with the participants.

These games delivers in my opinion a very bad message: be the greediest moron if you want to be rich, whatever the consequences of others ; the others are ennemies, not your friends, and hoomans are mindless beasts ready for everything for money ; and that money is the only way to happiness (which is wrong). Beyond that this promote money over moral.

And thinking about it this is what Mr. Beast videos are, based on the thumbnails and titles are. I didn't watch a lot of his videos and I won't criticize the amount of work behind them to show, it's good and the few I watched are okay at least, and good quality. But with this point of view described in the paragraph above, about people ready for everything for dollars, and videos getting more and more ambitious, this show Jimmy under a darker side, like he's ready for everything to get audience, even crushing the dignity of participants, "poorer" people. Yes, what's looking joyful challenges at first are people getting ridiculous for the sake of money with this point of view.

Do you like seeing people suffering and in despair, just for the sake of entertainment? I may be too serious, but for me this is questionable, and if a lot of people think yes, maybe hoomans are really absolutely douchebags. I'll let this question open.

And beyond Mr.Beast's work, with some critics I've read and my thoughts, I think this show how the current capitalism system is fucked up, and fucking up a ton of people, except the richest one. This money = everything mentally getting stronger and stronger really scares me, where it means that if you have a shit ton of money you have power, whatever you like, you're someone ; otherwise you're worthless, you're nobody ; you're nothing. (cool image, 10:02 in the video)

The power of money in society keeps increasing, and has more influence (for example the Beast Games who is promoted a lot and watched a lot of people) and thus of the people winning with this system (the richs), who have a lot of influence about our way of thinking, through the amount of crap they gave us to digest). And this isn't a good thing for you and us, because their greediness is what I think causes the most harm to society nowadays (global warming, etc.), and at the end, if we keep going like this, we're really gonna be in all of those dystopian movies/books/series/etc. where there is a "superior" minority, and the rest, the "inferior", that are worth nearly nothing, and you will be in the 2nd group, and it's gonna be worse than today.

And to be honest I feel powerless against this, that things gets worse and worse, I feel like some people tends to agree with that, just accepting this "2-level hierarchy" that's slowly getting more and more dominent, just for what, a few minutes of entertainment? The condition of life of the most rich people is getting better, as they get richer, and for the rest of the population, getting worse each year.

One day they told me that working hard pays ; now as I get older I think this is more and more likely bullshit, and now what's make your status (both material and social) is where you come from (and not what you do), and maybe... gambling? (tbh this is terrible) For real the more I look at our capitalism system the more I hate it.

To conclude this poorly made TED talk, I think these Beast Games are a reflect of the bad side of hoomans and the symptoms of our capitalsm system, which seems to dying, which gonna take a lot of people, a large majority, in its collapse, and something that seem inevitable? (I hope I'm fucking wrong with this last word). I'm only 21, and all of this really worries me for the future (and I'm NOT joking)

Sorry for the dark tone of this fucking thread if you actually read it whole, sorry for the poor English (used google translate only once), I made this spontaneously. And most importantly, don't lost hope on mankind, because at the end, accepting it is letting them win, and they won't care of your suffering.

(maybe all of this shit betters fits in General Discussion?)

not reading all of that as i write this but it's rich people pay money to watch poor people fight

reading it right now

edit: read it, just adding that it's rich people exploiting the common population for entertainment by hanging life changing money from a stick (to the common person) which people will fight for because it'll change their lives

Ah yeah the people missing the whole point of the show and thinking it's just a gory competition.

And that is why becoming a wolf/beast is better?

If you want some more dystopian fuel for the fire: In a lot of gameshows where contestants win a brand new car or some other luxury shit, they are forced to forfeit the prize because they will go broke if they don't. This is because they need to pay taxes on the prize, which often exceeds what the income of those poor families lucky enough to get on the gameshow can provide.
