If you manage to find my very firsts posts in OT! I was using the french convention where I added a space before a '?' or a '!'. But yeah, this is common to add a space.

I've only ever seen a single guy do it when typing normally.
When using Word it adds them automatically for some reason.
But yeah if you find someone who actually does it in every day life you've met a real weirdo.
If Word actually adds a space it's because it's officialy what you should do.
And personally I never seen in a french text or from a french speaking person NOT putting a space before '!' or '?', it was always added.
