I think is because water naturally picks up stuff when exposed. The container matters too, since plastic breaks down and enters the water. We also add chlorine to drinking water which evaporates.Achromalia wrote:

interestingly, it only needs maybe three or four hours before it already grows stale. there arent any obvious visual impurities, it doesnt seem milky or discoloured, and it tastes perfectly ok when its fresh, but... im not sure how it grows so flat and bitter in that time
