To be honest there are probably a few of such threads existing already, but I don't really care enough to necro them for my single movie rating, so I'm gonna make a new one, maybe someone else will join (movie subforum when?)

---

And I will begin it with the movie.. Saving Private Ryan(1998)

To be honest I generally love a lot of military themed movies, but only now I have decided to watch it, and uh.. it was good, like really good

Like sure, there's quite a lot of blood and generally just 'ew' moments for somebody, but everything else is on another level (again, this movie was released in 1998!)

Overall, just a 10 out of 10

Almost cried at the ending

Watched Paprika! recently, a good 9 out of 10.

The art and animation were just beautiful along with the absurdist stance of the plot really fit the motif of the movie, only part that confuses me is a specific point in the end but that's neither a big deal nor taking away too much, all in all a really great movie, silent blue next ig

wow wtf you did the same thread that I did that was bumped 4 times and it wasn't an automatic flop congrats

Not the most recent movie I watch, but I know it's one of the most controversial and I want to to disscuss it

BABYLON: 9/10

As I said, this has to be the single most divisive film I've ever seen, half the people think it's absolute thrash and the other half loves it

I'm a big Damien Chazelle lover, if I ever get into jazz, you can blame them, I loved lalaland, Whiplash is my favourite movie of all time, it was only logical I would watch babylon, and holy fuck, this was a movie

first of all, this has to be one of the most EXCESSIVE movies i've ever seen, it's 3 hours long, and there are like so many different fucking plot points, every scene is either tense or just full of plot and then 20 minutes you're following an entire differently storyline and it's so frenetic yet it sometimes stop and gives and extermely slow and dramatic scene

this movie is A LOT. It's about the transition between the silent movie and movies with sound in hollywood, but it's not also that, it's about the social elite. It's about how a career can be launched from nothing and then fade away into nothingness. It's about a lot of different shit

However, the flow of the movie always make sense, this is apparent due to how INTENSE some scenes are, there is one scene, the first day working with sound recordings which is probably AS tense as the legendary "not quite my tempo" scene in whiplash, sadly, I haven't been able to find the scene entirely on youtube, but trust me, the scene is CRAZY

The OST is just pure jazz as you would expect from this director, but damn the songs are catchy. There is one leitmotif that repeats constantly over the movie, and it has one of the most recognisables songs i've ever seen in a movie

It's also very original, it's for sure a frehs of fresh wind compared to most normal hollywood movies, for better ore for worse, there aren't almost any movies like babylon

I just love this movie

IMO Otaku Culture should merge and also discuss non anime show and films, so that way it wont be so dead.

I rarely do, I have like 10 movies on my pc I haven't watched yet

yeah I liked it

Watched this

if no one is watching movies to begin with, it being in GD would be even WORSE

I'm sorry, but did I name my thread "Argue about post count"? Because I don't think so

If a thread is good enough mods might move it to gd

If it's not it'll stay here

And if people are not watching movies often it'll just die out, like it should do

Now, something on-topic please

nah i'm pissed: "good threads to GD" is such a shit argument, like, just compare the quality of OT and the one of GD, there is no point of comparasion, OT sweeps while every competent thread made in GD is flooded by pure post farming. Moving a thread to GD is a worse punishment than it being locked. OT is an anything goes subforum, the culture of "ot is pure unfiltered shitpost" is completely wrong is actively a cancer to OT that seems to have infected almost everyone.

Anyways, watched parasite and the handmaiden recently, haven't seen many korean movies, they are cool, I have a couple ones listed that I want to check out,

I think its just suffering the same problem as your own movie thread, not much denizens/lurkers wants to post a review of a movie here, whether they watch one or not, i think even back then 3 years ago, not much people posted movie reviews.

well, since im here, might as well make my own contribution:

John Wick 4:

-
9/10

-

Just a really good action movie.

Each part of John wick keeps getting better and better as the number goes up and i would and many people consider this to be the best one yet.
Really cool locations
Good action scenes, even though sometimes the logic in some gets a bit silly which is one of the cons
The characters are cool
and the story is good, which makes me interested in the future of the franchise

So most action movies are cool, though it is dependent on the person i guess as some might not want the brutality or whatever, which is fair, but for ones who watch some or like the genre, this must watch and is one the top action movies in contestation with another popular franchise...

Again really good and cool movie, need to watch the other parts tho to understand the plot i guess, though its not a hassle as there not really bad movies as well, especially part 3.

I didn't really like the ending (it's kind of bs) but aside from that the entire John Wick series is great (especially 3)

Same. Surprisingly can remember a good chunk of it because I killed the DVD disc from the many times I watched it. Good times when the best stuff would be the ones that would have the discs scratched to unreadability.

I'm not usually in the mood to be reminded how fucked up we are, to be honest. It's probably why I don't like action at all and I watch comedies with some drama elements mixed in usually.

Exam (2010): 7/10

it's a relatively short film that includes 8 characters who are going to do a test and they have X minutes to complete it. i'm not saying more than that because a lot of things happen there, so i highly suggest you to watch it if you're bored!!!!

I guess somebody could call it a "prediction movie" and tbh it could be possible irl. Overall a great one, you should watch it if you've got 90 minutes to spare. Or if you're a gigachad just read the book of the same name

La sociedad de la nieve: 10/10: this movie caused me to agonize for 2 hours and a half but holy fuck it is a good movie. Best spanish movie ever created by far. It's about the real story of a flight that crashes into the andes, and they're forced to survive in the mountain while either someone comes to save them or they somehow manage to climb down the mountain.
