my one brick and mortar credit union acc that was set up for me as a child had the nearby building closed, so I haven't gotten around to going out and getting an online account set up there so I can move the money to a better savings.

well here nearly everyone accepts mobile payment. And we could also withdrawn money from ATM using those apps (but only limited to ATM of the same bank that you have that mobile app).
