hating stefan is a bit too far imo, i feel like stefan is just old and doesn't understand the difference between a thread that should be locked and a thread that shouldn't. unfortunately due to this misunderstanding, he's pissing off a majority of OT.

wont really do since it's hard to really analyze osu, but IMO I like it, it has some small changes which are annoying but I think it's just a matter of getting used to it, speedmods are a great addition IMO and I think the future of osu with lazer is looking nice

update: the game runs now, but it runs at 30fps, this wouldn't be bad if it wasn't for the fact that FPS is tied to game speed.

okay the game just crashed while writting this

okay BFDIA 5B fucking sucks ass (dropped)

this game is html5 platformer set in the BFDI universe (I guess? dropped that thing). It doesn't really matter tho, as this game does not have a plot. Also, this game does not hame a volume slider, only a toggle on or off. You need to change the volume of the entire browser or PC in order to change it's volume, so since I was listening to stuff in another tab, I was forced to mute this game entirely, kinda blows

The art is fine, it's not particulary pretty but it's also not bad.

The games does not control bad. However, the level design is BAD, many level require you to backtrack and do certain sections multiple times. In addition, there are special bonus tokens, which are supposed to be secret challenges in each levels, a lot of them are just to make sections multiple time. If you wanted more backtracking there you have it

Not only that, but sometimes you face blind jumps that in no way you could have seen coming. Having lots of unfair deaths, something very frustrating

here is an example

The background also blends a lot with the environment, for example, in that level in the video I was like "oh there are chains, maybe I can climb on them?", the answer is no. There also happens where it makes it seem like there are blocks and stuff that are just background. I haven't died of this but it is a little bit annoying

In the topic of unfair deaths. Most games make the hitboxes of dangerous object actually a little bit smaller than the sprite itself, this is to make the game more forgiving and giving the player the sensation of "oh wow!, I barely dodged that!, i'm so good at the game". This games does the opposites, the hitboxes are BAD

just look at this

The level design even if you exclude the blind jumps and the repetititon is still pretty bad, there are multiple levels where you must move boxes to make a bridge or whatever, these levels are not hard. They're just really annoying and really not fun in the slightest.

Also, when you die, you dont auto-respawn after a little time has passed, you must hold R for what feels like a whole second. I don't get why would you ever do this

Unless you're a really big fan of BFDI. Have a moral conviction against pirating videogames and didn't have the money to buy a game like celeste or mario. I would never recommend this game to anyone. There is absolutely nothing that makes this game stand over other platformers, and it has many things that it makes worse than your average platformer

placing this in how could you ever do this to me tier

summer pockets update (I still have to finish the game):

so I acted like I would IRL, apparently I got the wrong ending????, I still mainl talked to one girl but I didn't talk to her EVERY chance I got because I found that to be kinda creepy, imagine a random guy shows up in your native town and then just so happens to be with you at every time, like, idk, i'm not that kinad person, so I didn't, and you must do that. I assumed I had the WHOLE summer to do stuff, since the game is called SUMMER pockets, and that is apparently not the case, if by a certain date you have not stalked someone, game just ends.

so I decided to make another playthrough, this time not talking to ANYONE, so just trying to spend time alone by going to the shrine and secret base constantly. If I got a bad ending by not stalking a girl, I wanted to see what would happen if I just became asocial

game shamed me for it

playthrough lasted like 20 minutes

got the same ending

will do one of the proper routes now

KatouMegumi wrote:

I didn't even ask for the girl if I we could meet up or whatever, I just showed up in town, and literally started following her everywhere. There is even an option where the girl straights up tells you not to follow her and there is an option to follow her. Then I got confronted in the scret base like "yeah you just so happen to coincide with her all of the time"

when you're making friends, you dont follow them EVERYWHERE, maybe you talk once and maybe dont see again for 3 days then you see again, or maybe you phone them to be like "hey have any plans tomorrow or whatever", what I don't think it's really right to do IRL is just to have a magic map of the location of every cute girl in my area and follow them

I get this is a vn // dating sim and that this is dating sim logic but yeah, I was doing the things I would do IRL and that apparently led me to a bad ending

game is still good tho

cowboy bebop:

incredibly famous and legendary anime I had yet to really watch, I enjoyed it. Watched the anime + the movie

cowboy bebop is a episodic science fiction anime about a bounty hunter that travels the galaxy in a old ship called "bebop". The plot itself isn't the best, most of the stories are pretty simple, and there isn't that much remarkable about it, however, the character design is pretty good, so it makes up for it. A lot of main character gets introduced fairly late into the story, and I think the anime does a really good job into actually integrating those characters in a way that feels natural. The movie isn't really anything special either, it's just a longer episode with better animation.

I'm not the biggest fan of episodic shows like this one, where all the stories are fairly normal. I think the strongest advantage that the episodic format brings is just being able to make batshit crazy episodes with little repercusion (for example, kino no tabi). Cowboy bebop really doens't do this, the scenarios are fairly contentional, the characters are just regular human beings that just happens to be extremely lucky half of the time. I think I would have prefeered it if it wasn't as episodic, mainly because the part that I enjoyed the most (the ending of the anime) was the only non-episodic part of the anime

The last episode really brings out the themes of a lot of previous chapters and explore them even further. Some chapters really disscuss the topics of separation family, and they even touch death with that becoming virtual episode. The end of cowboy bebop is entirely based on those topics, having everyone leave but spike who is killed is just the best ending this anime could have wished.

by FAR the best of the anime is the OST, it's incredibly good, but unlike other animes with very iconic OST's like initial D, cowboy bebop really doesn't lean into their sound design much, which is a shame

now, this anime popularity really comes from it being exported and adapted into america during an era where anime wasn't mainstream just yet, I don't think this anime really breaks any new ground or whatever, but it is still good

placed in A tier

--mugman--

I feel bad for MrMcMikey at this point but this was thrash

mugman is a ms paint animation uploaded to newrounds that triest to emulate a children comedy cartoon

the animation is extremely basic, most of the jokes didn't land, at all (I don't think i've laughed once in the whole 2 hours and a half). There is no plot, and the author themselves halfway through goes like "yeah this hasn't aged the best and I have no ideas for any more chapters so let me review this bootleg toy I found", like, the author just gives up

nothing more to say, this was just bad

placed in how could you do this to me

--- summer pockets (shiroha rotue) ---

so I properly did the shiroha route now, and, idk, I wasn't the biggest fan of this paranormal/mistery aspect that it introduced, the ending was kina cute, but idk, it was poverall just a pretty average vn. The characters were nice but nothing too special, i'm not really invested into any other character to try to make their route. The game introduces this map selection thingie but that's just a prettier way to give you the dialogue options of what girl do you want to try to date

This game just felt really, really average all-around, there aren't thing that this does bad but I don't think it's really brilliant at anything either, I get that there are like 7 more routes but I just dont know if I can bring myself to play 50 extra hours of something that so far has only just been fine

placed in b tier

also I want to say I just recently happened another vn (it is on VNDB therefore it counts as a vn) called va-11 hall-a and now that's actually peak, check it out

Corpse Bride

it's alright

pretty famous stop motion animation movie by tim burton. The plot is about a man that accidently marries a corpse, the entire movie revolves around the typical story of "oh what if you couldn't marry the person you loved", there isn't any real new nuance to it.

The movie is also a musical, the songs achieve their goal. They tell the plot properly and they're in fact songs, however, there wasn't any song that impacted me or whatever, the music is just fine

The actual aesthetic of the movie and character design are pretty on point. It's a movie that has a very unique look. It also takes advantage of the fact that it's an animated movie and makes the shape of the characters all pretty different. ALl the characters are easily recognaisable which is always good. What I will point out it's that I find it pretty funny that even the female skeletons have their chest covered like if they had bone titties, honestly, accidental comedy.

this is not really an ambitious movie or anything that tries too hard, but it's still an enjoyable watch regardless

----- Millenium actress -----

First ever satoshi kon movie i've seen, pretty good.

Millenium actress is a movie about an old film star who dissapeared, a now 30 years later she is telling the story of her life, thing is, her memory fails her, as she starts mixing the movies and reality.

While the movie requires a little of brainpower to understand, the story is actually very straight forward. She just keeps pushing forward in life, and that key is a representation of that. The key isn't an actual key but more a metaphorical representation of some of her feelings.

I think this movie is really well done, it feels pretty unique, and yeah, i'm open to watching more satoshi kon in the future

put in B tier

------ The animatrix -------

Matrix anime anthology, suprisingly good

i'm not the biggest fan of anthologies, but this one was good. The animation is surprisingly polished, and a lot of the plots are very interesting, honestly, I wish a lot of this made it to actual matrix movies. I found that story on how the robots revolutionized actually pretty interesting. I haven't watched matrix 4, so I don't know if it takes inspiration from this

This anthology series is more sympathetic to both the matrix and the robots, and it really explores the consequences of a matrix existing a lot more deeply than in the movies I feel, which is a direction I actually love.

Also another thing is that sigma males have absolutely ruined matrix for me, like, at times a character said "that is because i've taken the red pill" and i'm like please dont say that.

so chuck e cheese is NOT blacklisted? ok well go fly to america, canada, or australia, enter a chuck e cheese, and play every single game and review all of the games. iirc every chuck e cheese has at least 50 games inside, so maybe bring a friend or two. and also, review all of the baby rides too. so photo ride with chuck, chuck e's drawing machine, etc. also, go inside the playtubes. review them.

then repeat this process until you have reviewed every single chuck e cheese in the selected country (america, canada or australia)

finished Gosenzo-sama Banbanzai!

I have opinions

This is a weird 90's OVA. And I personally didn't really enjoy it too much. The story is about a girl that travels back in time and goes to live with their ancestors. After that, the family starts to collapse and the space police gets involved.

This feels less of an anime and more of a theater play. There is very little actual animation or movement. Most of the shots are static shots of the characters looking at the camera. And a lof of the time, instead of actually doing any action, they are either repeating what happened in a previous chapter or just saying some other thing

The actual story is fine, but I think that there are a lot of scenes that really just makes the anime drag. For example, each chapter (with the exclusion of the last one) starts with a fake documentary, that while it is funny. I don't see it contributing much to the actual anime

I don't really have much else to say, I finished it but I didn't really quite get into it

The mockumentaries in the beginning are mostly a foreshadowing on what is going to happen or a metaphor to analyze what are the characters doing. Take in the first episode:
SPOILER
The cockoo is a metaphor for what Maroko was going to do to the family, she infiltrated in there and was the cause why the family collapsed, taking each egg out of the nest, just like Maroko managed to leave behind each member of the family on each episode.

Also yeah recommended it because of the unusualness factor, while I did enjoy the interactions and the quirky dialogue, as well as the wtf factor that the overall anime had. I can agree that the pacing is quite slow and not for everyone, but there was summary movie that lasts like 70% of what the story which I think I should have recommended instead but I don't recommend stuff I haven't watched even if I know the story.

song of the long march:

This is a fairly famous manhua. It's about this girl, who is part of the elite of society, who gets caught in a war. It's a mix of interpersonal drama and military strategy.

The panel structure is overall standard, but during the first 20 chapters or so, you had the 3-gatsu no lion black lines, which I appreciate seeing. For those who hasn't read 3-gatsu no lion (everyone reading this). I mean this (screenshot from 3-gatsu since I don't remember in which chapters this appeared in song of the long march)

you have two active conversations going on at the same time, the ones happening in the actual patterns, and then, the narration happening in the black rectangles. However, this concept gets droppead really early on and afterwards everything in terms of art and structure is pre3tty standard

honestly I don't have much to say about this. It doesn't really to do anything crazy or whatever, it's just a pretty normal manhua all things considered

also as far as I know this manga is on hold with no signs of returning

samurai champloo:

this is cowboy bebop but slightly worse

completely episodic anime, even more than cowboy bebop as new we don't get new main characters during the runtime of the anime or whatever. The episodes themselves are pretty simple, none of them are particullary mind-blowing or something I hadn't seen before.

The OST is worse than in cowboy bebop, I don't like that rap/beatbox style they went for on this anime. I also think the characters have less chemistry than on cowboy bebop

There is a filler chapter at chapter 12 so that is also kinda bad

This anime doesn't really try anything new, and it's just a worse version of another anime that already exists, don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, but I don't know, it definitively could have been better

Caroline:

it was good, i'm not the demographic tho

halloween movie about this kid that moves and discovers an alternate dimension. The art was good, nothing mindblowing. Like in most western animation, all of the characters are different shapes, this works to make the characters more easily recognisable. Their personalities are also greatly exaggerated, these aren't very well fleshed out characters that really feel humans and there is a lot of nuance to them, most characters just have one or two character trains associated with them, this works because the actual story isn't too complex, and none of the characters are actually hateable or anything like that

As i've said, the story is pretty simple, it honestly follows the formula of all of those stories about someone who walks into the mirror and discovers a different world, there really isn't much to say in terms of plot

This was a enjoyable watch, however, it's not the type of thing i'm personally really into. It isn't particullary ambitious or new, it's good if you just want to watch pretty colors and be entertained for a while, but for me, that's about it. The fact that I watched this only a few days after I watched All About Lily Chou-Chou (my new favourite movie), didn't help either lmao

there isn't much to say so far in terms of actual plot so far. The actual unedited docs had pretty bad english from both of you, but that's why i'm here, your book seems a lot like a weird furry fanfiction and manishhh seems to go for a more comedy style, both of you write dialogues in this almost theatrical way which is strange to me

it's a start, for sure better than the ot!book IMO

--- the nightmare before christmas ---

turns out I had already seen this movie like it was originally intented, in high school, near the end of the school year, in english class when the teacher just wanted their vacations already so they put a movie and forget about teaching that day, and of course, I didn't pay attention as I was talking with my friends and crushing over girls, not only that, but the movie is like an hour and a half and you normally don't see more than 50 minutes of a movie during a class (because the actual class is an hour long total)

pleasantly surpised about the actual movie tho. I think that in terms of western animated movies this has to be one of the better ones, if not my favourite currently. It uses stop motion, but the fact that it's older than something like corpse bride gives it more charm, since it's even more apparent that it's stop motion. The movie is a musical and the OST is like actually really fucking good, features "this is halloween" like that song is already better than any other song from any animated western musical

the actual plot is very simple, nothing too special about it, it's just that the combination of the art and ost that just creates a really enjoyable movie
