certain card combos were overpowered and one or two cards in overpowered combos(power cards were left unaffected) were banned with the intention of allowing other less used cards to shine
the banned cards were also to encourage players to summon strong monsters rather than using direct attacks

Sorry, wrong mapset.
In the good old days before the brokenness of v2 mapping and modding, each mapset had to earn 12 star rating before it could be bubbled and ranked. You could earn star rating by either getting mods on your map or having someone shoot kudos to said map. Shooting kudos has all been replaced by the hype system.

That is a hype, not a kudos shot. Hype you get each week just by having an account. Kudos you earn from modding. When you shot a kudos in v1, the total number you had available went down, making it so if you wanted to keep on shooting kudos you had to be active in the community. With hype, it is just twiddle your thumbs and you get more. Also, hyping a map has no impact in your total kudos score. I can remember the flack I got because I did shot one kudos and would refuse to shoot more, telling them to get a mod or let me mod it. With the hype system, kudos mean nothing unless you want to be BN or are BN.

you need at least a week for this question lmao. This involves going through all maps you modded before 2017. You do that by going through your post history, filtering by posts in graveyard and ranked archived subforums. Then you need to check each hit with wayback machine to see if you can get something from that. Otherwise you need to take time trying to figure out how to access the thread star count - and it might be impossible at this point.

nope. that map was uploaded after v2 was forced on everyone, so that map could not have any kudos shot at it. also, it is my own map and - like i said before - i would never shoot a kudos at my own map. i would not hype my own map as well

Abraker got the link first, lol. In sort, the banned list initiated because of the combo of Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End, a Sangan/Witch of the Black Forest and Yata-Garasu in the first tournaments. With how the deck worked, you would want to go second because if you go first you can not attack. You wanted to get either Witch of the Black Forest or Sangan on the field via something like Monster Reborn (as to not eat up your normal summon for that turn) and you would get Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End out. Using the dragon's effect, you would nuke the field and both players hands. When Sangan/Witch was sent to the graveyard, you got to search Yata out of your deck. All you had to do is summon Yata and attack, making your opponent skip their next draw. With nothing in their hand or their side of the field, they literally could not play the game. Though other cards have had an errata so they are less powerful (and able to be unbanned), Yata still remains on the banned list due to this lock potential.
And nope, wrong map coldtooth. Also, the Nekros archtype was out long after the first banned list was actually put into the game. Quite literally one of their ritual monsters is based off of a banned card.

Another point for you _ralsei. For some odd reason the catch diff on the set you linked is in WIP though it says it is loved and the rest is loved eblf. It might be a site issue, but that map sits weird with me due to that, so no points until I can figure out why it is doing that. If/when I can you will get a point though if it is just some site issue.
