Actually the whole situation is not that serious. Monstrata was just joking about the bg quality without being acknowledged that the Cheri drawn this herself. First one is debatable. Maps being scrutinized for nsfw lyrics given similarly nsfw maps were ranked before just doesn't feel right, so it might have some worth. Second one from 2010 is not close to drama imo

Not much drama. People complaining about bg have no ground to complain on and is next level "I want things my way" type of deal. RC doesnt even say BG must fit the song in guidelines

based on what I've heard and what I've seen in various osu forums, I'm getting the feeling that the mapping community/experience is one cancer dumpsterfire (like how tokaku has described it).
