I usually don't care but I have to agree with this.

The BN system is supposed to make sure each and every difficulty of every map up for ranking status is quality. I don't get how there can be two clearly identical maps with the only difference being that someone did Ctrl+a and Ctrl+h and still have that ranked.

It's getting out of hand right now. People are accepting this, and the BN system isn't doing jack shit. They're letting people like Monstrata just speedrank over and over, and people like me out of the blue. 2016 I tried to get a map ranked, didn't work out, the year before, didn't work out. So far no luck on this year because BN system after my last map was ranked got shittier and shittier. It's just so bad now. And I feel like I expressed my opinion too much when I say this, people don't map for quality anymore, they map for quantity of pp, 6 insanes, 6 extras, and 1 easy. Fucking seriously.

I should be able to go as far a being able to rank a beatmap with a black bg if I wanted to. bg is a non gameplay part of the map and only helps as a visual identifier while browsing.

Mara may disagree, but playing with no bg dim has little relevancy anymore. With the option to make it a non gameplay factor, its requirement shall be null and void

You should probly add some titles/drama reasons next to the links.

Also it has little relevancy anymore, thanks to the people removing backgrounds which led peppy to add the dim. Bunch of casuals. 8-)

I am also thinking of providing descriptions of mapper arguments, the opposing arguments, and what ended up happening. The listings currently serves as a compilation for reference and I am thinking of expanding it to serve as an explanation for how things work and why things need to be done a certain way via the listed as examples. Might take a while for me to fill those in.

Oh man, I remember the Thunderclowns speedrank. It wasn't really much drama though. BATs got a slap on the wrist and that was the end of it.

I finally found some.
This is a legit mapping drama!
Issue about two a mapset getting qualified with less mods. Others are complaining about aesthetics and poor judgement of the BN's who nominated the mapset.

I understand it. This is only for archiving purposes. Also, naming people imo at these kind of 'sensitive issues' is a bad idea.

Mapper gave up his map from being ranked because of breaking the guideline about compilation which says needs three songs instead of two. QAT and Nominators had voiced out thier opinions on why it's considered unrankable.

I don't care about rhythm choices. I want to decipher the map whatever it is. So long as it doesn't show a middle finger to the player via a diff spike or some ridiculously hard to do section, it should be alright. As a player I play first, and question the mapping last.

One also used A-L-I-E-N map as a baseline for the argument

but I argue flow is as subjective as the line they draw for definition. First definition would concern when you can no longer move the cursor in a smooth motion. The subjectivity mostly comes from the player's ability to maintain around the same velocity throughout the pattern (assuming they do that instead of snapping). Sharp angles can be said to have flow like star patterns and such, and first definition doesn't cover those. Second definition would concern the stress the player experience when trying to reach an aimpoint.

The level of subjectiveness differs from player to player and what skill level they actually attain. that could be the reason why others see it fine while others don't.
