For rules regarding approvals, I don't really mind since it means there's more people playing the mapset.

For rules regarding one diff one map, I don't find any problem on it since I already applying this for a long time. But what'd I say is that pattern's difficulty are pretty subjective. I stumbled across many mappers that considers hard to execute patterns as normal patterns. Aren't that means Mapper A's Hard is considered as hard as Mapper B's Normal?

And,
If you wish to get your mapsets with multiple difficulties of the same level ranked, we advise you to split it off into a new mapset.
Are you telling mappers to rank an exactly same song twice or more if he got many styles to express?

  2. The second rule is ridiculous, please reconsider. Doing that not only will annoy most(all) players but it will also greatly hurt mapping. We're going to end up having our favorite song with a diff we dislike as an Insane/Extra diff (I do have many mapsets with multiple maps on Insane/Extra but I usually like only one or two of those difficulties). Also players that can play light insanes wont be able to find maps nearly that easily. (Since many light insanes are accompanied by higher star insanes -which are very popular-).
    Applying this rule will only increase the amount of mapsets!!! Can you imagine how annoying it will be having to search through 50 maps of the same song just to find the one you like? Because if someone can't make a second guest insane diff on a mapset he'll just do it on another mapset. The result will be tens of mapsets ready for approval.

I recon this as a good idea. Obviously ranking routine will be greatly simplified because nominator team never need to judge the gap between Extra to OMFGITSSKYSTAR when they are in doubt or incapable to play the difficulty. Plus mappers will have to decide which difficulty to keep, a better GD or a just-so own made diff. This will greatly increase the overall quality of qualified maps. If players want to play other mappers' difficulties, they could choose to play unrank maps, like what currently Taiko mode players do.

In other aspect, people must stay clear that it is unfair to stick their difficulties to anither mapset just because the songs name the same. It is their obligations to seek mods and ask for qualifications with their own efforts.

Everyone does know that it is unlikely to retract a newly addressed rule like slapping oneself. Thus, why shan't we enjoy it and push forward?

As a player, my personal satisfaction comes from playing different diffs from a skillset,because even with the same star rating, two extras can have significant difference in play, which i feel should not dissappear from a set.

This REALLY damages mapsets which are over 10 minutes, like one I'm working on now, since making a new whole easier diff not only is extremely time consuming (considering mine is 16 mins) but the currently difficulty is all about working with the atmosphere of the original song, so it has easy and hard parts, so making an easier diff would make no sense.

I could say that for shorter approval maps having multiple diffs is more acceptable, but for way longer ones? No way.

The second rule is seems illogical as there is no set definition what difficulty includes which gameplay-elements.
Depending on the song different gameplay-elements are appropriate to reflect the song, making it impossible to judge what difficulty name a map should receive.
The only way I see is classifying the difficulties after the gameplayelements in a scheme like
Used snaps; Most Used Spacing(time);DS Used; SV Used;Frequency of DS Changes; Frequency of SV Changes; Main Patterns used

So my difficulty(3,8*) may be called
124;2;-;1.8;10;10;Flowbased Sliders on high/changing SV

opposed to my second difficulty(3.6*)
1248;4;1.5;1.4;3;0;Changing Directions a lot+Streamjumps+Kicksliders

Which again, no casual player wants to read or understand.

With the current icons - which are known to not reflect difficulty properly - naming difficulties is not easy impossible and it kind of fucks with all difficulty naming so far.
While I think that fucking with difficulty naming in standard and making it tie to gameplayelement usage is a very good idea this is FAR away from being polished and usable.
If you already do stuff while excluding the public you should try to think stuff to its end instead of making a scheme and then posting it into the forums. I'm very dissatisfied with having such a halfhearted piece of a rulescheme thrown at me.

If you are going to rewrite RC you have to consider every part of it. It doesn't make sense to write one part, toss it to the hard rules and then write the next one without really caring about context.
