For some reason some of my elements get these itsy bitsy gross black pixels on the edges of them when displayed in osu:

even though they aren't there in my image files (white background added to make this easilly visible):

Does anybody know what I could do about this?
It doesn't happen to all of the elements so I was wondering if it had to do with compression settings or something strange like that?

Also-

I'm pretty sure Zeugmax is referring to how a hitcircle gets bigger and fades out after being clicked, though I have no clue if that can be changed.

I'm not sure of what he's referring to aswell, but the only fade in I know of is the approach circle I guess, and you should never play without them (unless with hidden). Maybe the lighting.png file? But that gives a fade out effect, not fade in.

Also I don't know what happened to your file dorothy, never happened to me, what resolution do you run your game in? Did you try changing it?

Side note: Since the last patches all my spinner backgrounds disappeared?? The file is in my skin folder, the game just doesn't recognize or load it for some reason.. (this happened in every skin with a spinner background) Did this happened to anyone else that can help me out?

I usually run it in 1366 x 768 (native) with fullscreen mode, but it happens no matter what resolution I use. It's less visible on lower resolutions because of the upscaled blurriness in fullscreen, but it's still there. Only with some elements that I've made does this happen, but no matter I can't seem to make it go away on the ranking letters.

Hello, I need help with my hitcircles;

I am trying to get the whole hitcircle coloured the same as the inner ring, http://i.imgur.com/ogYCFzB.png I'm referring to the green inner part of the circle and it would be appreciated if someone could help. I worded that really awkwardly, but I hope you can understand. Essentialy, instead of the inside of the hitcircle being blank, give it the same transparent colour.

my skin can be downloaded here https://www.sendspace.com/file/fxxbzb (It's based off of Nara and uses elements from other skins for personal use). I'm trying to make mine more like the ones from phaze, http://i.imgur.com/gPDQ3sU.png - which has a subtle colour in the hitcircle

Actually, I just took the hitcircle (not overlay) from Phaze and added it to mine and the result was okay.

I usually use another skin as an example (open the elements of that skin and see their positioning), or just go by trial and error. Maybe there's a way more simple solution that I don't know of? :P

I need some help with the scoreboard.

For awhile, I could use different elements for the playing field and the scoreboard (blank hit300-0.png, and a actual image for hit300.png), however, since one of the recent updates, the scoreboard seems to be using the hit300-0.png instead, displaying an empty space instead of an image. Anyone know how to fix this ?

Rename your old hit300-0.png to hit300-1.png and rename a copy of hit300.png to hit300-0.png. Same goes for hit300g.png

The first animation frame gets shown on the ranking panel and not shown during gameplay due to the fixed animation speed. So no worries about it popping up.

Hi,

I'm visually-impaired and I struggle with several elements in this game, but one in particular I'm having a real problem with is sliders. My eyesight isn't good enough to tell which end of the slider I should be aiming for, so I constantly break combo, or even completely fail, from going the wrong way over a slider. Is it possible to change the colour of the opposite end of the slider only? It seems skins use the hit circles for both ends of the slider, but I'd like to be able to distinguish between each end of the slider by using different colours. Reading through the tutorial, it doesn't seem as though this is possible. I'd be grateful for some advice here.

Yeah, it's already on, and it helps for easier maps where the circles are quite close to each other, but whenever the jumps are a bit longer I never see the animation. Thanks for the reply. :)

I don't believe there is a limit but I can't say for certain. I've used a 20 second sound file before as an applause sound and it works. The common length for most is around 10 seconds or less.

Hey guys! Quick question regarding hitnotes.

Is there any way at all to be able to have static coloring on a note?

For example: I wish to put a very small decal at the center of the note but can't get the proper effect for it because of how the hitnote layer is effected by the color change and that I wish for it to not change. I also can't apply the decal to the overlay because I've come to find out that the overlay file goes over the top of the numbers as well.

Kind of stuck but not sure if there's some sort of work around that I can use to achieve this.

In you skn.ini file search for "HitCircleOverlayAboveNumber: 1" and change the 1 to a 0, or add that line if it is not in it.
That line changes the numbers to be on top of the overlay instead of behind.

Hi,
I'm currently working on my own skin. And I wanted to ask if someone could tell me how to adjust the numbers for my hitcircles, so they won't be placed next to each other once they reach 10.

Gritoit did it in his skin but I have no Idea how(he didn't just use the Hitcircle itself or the Hitcircleoverlay nor changed anything in the skin.ini).
I can just place his "default-.png" files in my skin-folder and it works. But I want to use my own files.

I'm sorry if this question has already been answered a lot of times but I didn't really know how to search for it.

-Go to your skin folder and open file skin.ini with notepad (or any text editor) then search "HitCircleOverlap: 1"

- Adjust the value from "1" to "155", in my skin.ini is "155" because the pixel is 128x128 but i dunno with other skin maybe you can try adjust this by yourself

Haskorion
These lines would be the ones to look out for.
ColumnWidth: 50,50,50,50,50,50,50

Colour#: x,x,x,255 (# is for the specific lane)

ColumnWidth seems to be changed to real pixel width.

Colours are in RGBA where A controls the transparency of a lane. 0 is transparent and 255 is solid.

EDIT: about the notes, seems something is broken as I only see small lines. nvm after restarting worked fine again.

a1l2d3r4e5d6
How do you make the follow point look like a line? Would you just make a lined shape follow point, or is this the animated follow point? If so then how would you go about in making it?

I am using the effect filename wrong ?

i used this page for reference https://osu.ppy.sh/wiki/Skinning
Haskorion
the file name is correct and I assume you already play in HD.

volume-bg-effect is not an overlay to show the volume level, it is the background when you change the volume level of sound effects manually like you would adjust the normal volume during or between plays.
This can be done by holding down the "Alt"-button while changing the volume with the mousewheel or arrowkeys. This is where volume-bg-effect shows up.

example:
You have several followpoint image files, from 0 to 9 (I think), the length of the followpoint is determined by the number of those files that are not blank (the 5th file is the center of the "followline"). Just get a skin that has line followpoints and see for yourself how they should look like. The file name should be "followpoint-x.png", replace x by a number.

Haskorion
You can make a skin for taiko only and have this approachcircle there. Just make a folder named "taiko" put your taiko elements there and go to the options ingame. go to the skin section there and enable "use taiko skin for taiko mode". Everytime you play taiko this taiko skin will automatically be used, regardless of your skin. On your skin for standard you will use another approachcircle of course.

hi,
I'm having some issues with my hitcircleoverlay at the moment. For a while now, I've been using hitcirlceoverlay-0.png to effectively have an overlay only at the beginning of a slider. This has been working fine until I changed the image.

This is what it looks like currently, but the only thing that was different previously was the lack of the inner light-blue portion.

And this is the result in-game. It still works fine on hitcircles, but the sliders' overlay is entirely gone.

I'd have to assume that it has something to do with the middle of an overlay having to be transparent, but I still don't really get why it wouldn't work. Thanks in advance if you can help explain this to me.
Haskorion
The overlay-0 method only works with "HitCircleOverlayAboveNumber: 1" in the skin.ini file, so that means you have to use a transparent middlepart in the overlay to see the number.

That will change all combo colors to be black, I just want one combo to be black and one to be green, but for the black combos the hit circle is turned black which is difficult to see the hit circle on dark maps. The problem isn't really making the combo is black, it is the fact OSU is turning my hit circle black also xD
