Has there ever been anything for Options_Graphics_Fullscreen_Tooltip? It's empty.

Btw new strings related to the new Options screen layout are available for translation.

A new version has just been uploaded and finally included the new Dutch translation.
However I noticed a few pieces of text that were too long.
When rewriting the Dutch translation I didn't think it would be this noticeable.


Most of these issues could be solved by wording the text slightly different.
Before I do that I wanted to know if I should prioritize exact translation or a translation that still fits and looks good without being too big.
Keep in mind that whenever I change something like "Alles weerge.." I will change it everywhere for the sake of consistency.

Edit: Since no one responded I took matters into my own hand. Interpunction should be consisted across the board according to Dutch interpunction. Text that was too long has been shortened while still remaining it's original translation. Found some other silly translations I didn't find before which have been fixed as well. The Dutch translation should be near perfect now.

Edit 2: Osu!test has just been updated with the new translations. Extremely satisfied with the Dutch translation now. Everything fits nicely and is in proper Dutch. Consistency is also a lot better now.

Due to changes in windows, this requires "Raw Input" to be enabled. It has been turned on for you.
Is this supposed to be Windows or actually windows? Not quite sure.

Btw peppy, could you add a new line for "240fps"? Around line 32 in the Google Doc.


edit (2014-02-21): I've edited a lot of strings in the French options menu, more specifically in the Input and Online tabs. I wanted to get rid of these numerous "Show", "Hide" and "Enable" verbs that take space for nothing, are very redundant and useless anyway since context is explicit enough for people to understand the meaning of the option even without them. French translators, please take a look and proofread :)

I edited some English strings as well:
MenuTip_6: removed "Ctrl/Space" since nobody use these keys
MenuTip_7 and 11: replaced "FAQ" by "wiki"
FunSpoiler_Dim_Tooltip: removed "(maximum limit: {1}%)" since it is no longer applicable

I'd like to add that I support these changes.
The Dutch translation never had "Ctrl/Space" in the first place as it wouldn't fit well in the sentence.

What's up with the snow-tooltip in options. Shouldn't it be mentioned that it alternatively could be skinned with "menu-snow.png"?

No. Skinning is never mentioned in tooltips.

I suppose the Options_UpdateStrategy it's about how often will osu! update versions and CuttingEdge means that it will always update to the latest (the most recent build)

correct me if I'm wrong, though.

There is this note in the doc:

Think of it as the "Update channels" in Firefox: you choose one to get the normal version of a software or a newer but unstable one, etc.

It's the same thing here, "stable" being the public build of osu! and "cutting edge" being the test build.

Is it possible to create a glossary/terminology sheet?

I have seen like 3 different Japanese translations for "beatmap" alone (the translation contexts are all the same):

I know there's a row for the translation of "Beatmap" (MatchSetup_Beatmap) but I don't think everyone will search for it and it will probably be easier to just have a translation standard for osu! terminology.

My contribution to Slovenian (Slovenščina), translated almost everything except beatmap editor (no one uses it so I don't think it's a priority, but I'll translate it when I have more time) and fixed some grammatical errors =)

Reached 83% (It was less than 55% before)

I've done most of the translation to Turkish, things that people come across the most were my priority. Editor is still being worked on though and will probably be done whenever I have more spare time. I wonder, will we be able to get any credit for the translations we've done? Also some tips need context in order for us to make an accurate translation

I added a bunch to the Hebrew section, but got stuck on 3 lines that I couldn't quite figure out if anyone is willing to help?

Letterbox breaks conflicts with {0} diff.
Audio preview time conflicts with {0} diff.
Audio lead-in conflicts with {0} diff.
I think I know what they mean, but I don't want to mess it up! :D

Basically:
  1. The letterbox option is the insertion of black bars on top and bottom of the screen during pauses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letterbox
  2. Audio preview time is the moment when the music starts when navigating in the song select screen.
  3. Audio lead-in is this: https://osu.ppy.sh/wiki/Song_Setup#Music_Lead-In
The "conflict" thingy is when the same option is not set at the same value throughout the difficulties of the map.

On a side note; is there supposed to be a Hebrew section on the web/FAQ? because I couldn't find it!

Nah, the faq sheet of the Google Doc refers to the BanchoBot commands, and the web sheet to something that has never been implemented (yet?)

If anything, if there should be something in Hebrew, it's in the wiki. There is still nothing in Hebrew in it though.

Yes, it's this. A good start would be to create the Hebrew homepage based on the original homepage. But anyway I am going off-topic here. If you have any questions about how to do anything in the wiki, ask them in the wiki thread :)

doesn't it make a lot more sense now? everything prefixed with "by" still shows all maps, while the others are filtered down. also allows for alphabetical ordering.

However - due to the fact that Israel is written right to left, every string containing a Variable ({0}, {1}, etc..) might not work. would appreciate it if this would be tested - and if it is the case, I will work on fixing them all :P

that you can open Localisation folder, edit an appropriate translation file to whatever you want to test and then make it read only to prevent osu! from rewriting it with fresh online copy. Then you select the language, translation of which you need to test, and.. test?

I guess the first one matches what I highlighted on the screenshot but I can't find the other ones.
It would be nice if we could translate what's in the Jump To window and the "Jump To window" tooltip btw. And the tooltips of the audio player buttons too!

just finished translating items of Traditional Chinese in 'game' page.
but I've found that some items (like the menu shows up when you click on someone's id) aren't there,
can't they be translated like others?

If an item does not show up in the translation list, it isn't translatable yet. New strings are added fairly frequently, so check back every so often!

Hi, I've changed zh-CHT from 中文(繁體) to 中文(正體).

Actually it's more like a rectification, since 繁體 means 'Complicated' in Chinese, 繁體中文 is actually a negative name.
If you wish to say Traditional Chinese in Chinese in a more proper way, I'd recommend to use "正體中文" (or 中文(正體) ).

I am not sure if changing that makes the in-game language setting goes wrong, so... just mentioning it.

If you wish it to stay the former way, feel free to undo this change.

Sounds odd to me, as a Hong Kong player.

It has been known as 繁體 for Hong Kong and Macau and 正體 is the Taiwan term.

I believe that 繁體 is generally known in both area, while the other term is less recognized.

I prefer using 繁體.

Check the localization in wikipedia:



There are five different versions. Here is the translation in order:

1) Simplified Chinese for mainland China

2) Traditional Chinese (繁體) for Hong Kong.

3) Traditional Chinese (繁體) for Macau.

4) Simplified Chinese for Singapore and Malaysia.

5) Traditional Chinese (正體) for Taiwan.

actually "繁體" does not refer to "Complicated" but "Unsimplified", opposite to "Simplified" directly with no additional meaning.

plus, i think wmf's suggestion is the most exact way to distinguish them.

I've restored it back to "繁體" as it is a more recognised term.

If anyone feel that there's a need to change it to "正體" please feel free to discuss.

uhh I see ;w; I had mistaken "繁體" as Complicated since the word "繁" was negative on my opinion.
But now, as other Chinese users explained, I think it's okay to use "繁體" too.
