Rebubbled!

Side note incase people complain:
AIMod says there is an image in the song folder that is not used, but in the storyboard script there is an animation line which starts at name_0000, which means it uses name_00000, name_00001, name_00002, etc. so this is a bug in AIMod
Low
was going to wait until this was at bubble #2 but lo and behold, something caught my eye. all the extra timing sections near the start are un-needed. all the timing sections you need are the following:

01:27:047 - 7/4 time signature
01:31:547 - this one is most likely 3/4 (heavy beat lands on 01:33:047)
01:33:047 - 4/4

i know the first one is definitely correct, but the other two are debatable. it'd be nice if someone could see if i'm correct or improve my timing if it is incorrect. have to pop this for now and will do a full mod later and then it'll get bubble #2 probably and everything will be fine. sorry ;(

why can't everybody just agree on a timing already qq

yes, except it starts at 01:21:047 - (did you copy the wrong time?)

Jacob wrote:

Put the 4/4 at 01:34:047 instead. 01:33:047 (1,2,3,4,5) is structured exactly the same as the previous section (which is set to 3/4) so there's no reason it should be changing there.

so basically:

01:21:047 - 7/4
01:31:547 - 3/4
01:34:047 - 4/4

01:21:047 ~ 01:31:547 - To me there is a sudden decrease in density of bar lines with you using 7/4. I would suggest implementing alternating 4/4 and 3/4 stanzas (Making it like bar line --> 4 beats --> bar line --> 3 beats --> bar line --> 4 beats...).
Similar structures to deal with abnormal bar length has been seen in authentic maps such as Soul Calibur III New Legend and GERMINATION.
This is the reason for the additional uninherited timing sections--at least in the taiko. I changed the standard diff too, for the sake of consistency.

Not sure how to proceed. Are different redlines allowed in taiko and standard? Or should I keep both as is... or change both back to the original 7/4 design (as in Jacob and Lyby's posts)?

halp plz ;; eye'm confuzd

06:34:843 (1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,3,4,1,2) - please delete this section. it's awkward to play and the timing for this section (or lack therof) is incorrect. each circle practically needs its own individual timing section to be spot on.

[Love]
02:48:047 (1,1,1) - in my opinion, this anti-jump is really difficulty to sightread and play properly due to the very fast ongoing pace of the map at that point in the song. a good solution would be to place a slider at 02:48:047 that repeats at 02:48:297. it would also be neat to place the reverse of the slider on the end of (1) in the next combo, like this ((7) is the repeat slider, you just can't see the repeat).
06:48:422 (1) - you should never ever map to a vocal part that isn't actually part of the main beat. this isn't timed correctly either (or does it even have a correct timing)? yeah, you should probably remove this.

this should be good for bubble #2 since the uninherited timing section changes didn't require the resnapping of any notes.

Just delete the section, RLC. He's right about it. It's fine.

Most testers have not had problems with this section at all. also, removing it just makes that break REALLY long and boring--in the standard diff, there's at least an SB to keep the player/viewer's interest, but the taiko would just have a long minute of nothingness ;;

The weird 1/4 effect in the background fades away at 02:48:047 - and suddenly comes back at 02:48:547 - , so I wanted to emphasize that. Anyway, I spread out the notes across the screen. (surprisingly enough, no one i watched test the map misread the antijumps--even on first play--but I suppose they are a bit too risky.)

RLC wrote:

This is a fair way to aid Taiko gameplay since 7/4 measures are really long. In theory, 7/4 measures are simply made up of a combination of 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 groupings, and this song happens to use a 4/4 to 3/4 as a 7/4 measure. Both would be considered fine if you consider Taiko playability, and this is one of the cases where I would allow a red line inconsistency across all diffs.

Lybydose wrote:

01:33:047 - 4/4 should go here instead of 01:34:047 - . For the reason Lybydose provided above, what that's trying to accomplish is making the time signature fit the map, when it should be the other way around. It is very clear that 01:33:047 - is a single 4/4 measure and not a 3/4 measure with an extra beat.

Would also include a 4/4 at 01:35:047 - for the sake of restarting stanza count. Good practice, even though you can only dream of playing this at 1.5x rate.

RLC
fixed 4/4 switch as stated by those

didn't change taiko back to 4/4 and 3/4 combination though, since the inconsistency between diffs seems to be too controversial, w/e.

didn't add extra 4/4 line because as far as I can tell, that wouldn't really do anything, osu!-wise? correct me if i'm wrong.

20:06 Gabe: 04:56:547 (3) - This is only a suggestion, I have no objection with the current emplacement. Since you have made a blanket with both of these sliders, 04:55:422 (2,4) - , you could also try to blanket this slider with the beginning of this one: 04:56:172 (2) -

20:11 Gabe: 05:54:297 (2) - this slider seems very far from the previous one. Since the slider one is finishing on a blue tick and the next slider starts directly after it, you should try to make them more closer. It's like these, 05:50:047 (1,2) - , but they're more close than those two.

20:13 Gabe: 06:06:797 (7) - this one is a bit nazi. Move it to x:376 y:342 to have a consistent spacing with the previous and next circle

lolcubes taught me this method of storyboarding--you have to "kill" the default bg and use it in the SB itself in order to prevent random lines from showing up on the sides

the side effect is that people that disable SB can ignore the BG entirely

That's actually true but it's like saying "shit map no effort plays gay hurrdurr". Of course the Rating consist subjective thoughts and opinions and of course everyone feels free to rate the Map how he/she/it wants. It's just that many Maps get rated wrongly by wrong criterias and this is the disadvantage of the Star Rating.

A crazy map can still be simplified within reason, or at least have simpler sections. I haven't seen the map, so I won't make any assumptions about the map itself, but intense songs don't excuse bullshit.

>_> I was actually originally going to make a lengthier post in place of that... seems like it is necessary.

Your statement "needlessly hard," if it is referring to the overall difficulty of the map, makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It implies that the map is somehow "too hard for the song," which is a stupid concept, since you can't just listen to a song and say, "oh, the map for it must be around this difficulty with this SV, blah blah." That's a load of nonsense. On the other hand,

D33d wrote:

Yes! This is a more logical statement. I assure you, the relative internal difficulties of this map have been very meticulously thought out--relative SV, object density, smoothness of flow, etc.

Trust me, if I wanted to make a "needlessly hard" beatmap, I would put spam random circle jumps for the entire seven minutes of the song.

And as for your statement,

D33d wrote:

...intense songs don't excuse bullshit.
"bullshit"? I suggest you don't carry this assuming attitude of knowing what is holy and what is unholy in mapping. Please don't assume that you've got mapping all figured out. It does no one any good.
ryza

D33d wrote:

...but intense songs don't excuse bullshit.
Intense songs are the best for making hard maps like these, because it's where the crazy maps fit.

"Bullshit" to you may be "really fun" to someone else, it's all a matter of perspective.

Please keep in mind that easy maps are abundant in osu! and very difficult maps are not so common.

Intense difficulty doesn't mean bad ratings (hi FREEDOM DiVE, hi Airman, hi pretty much every approval map out there).

There's stuff people like and stuff they don't.

You guys are discussing a rating made off 41 votes. Not the most representative of the hundred thousands of players this game has.

Don't forget that such ratings happens at the very first minutes after ranking/approval.
