This would be a bad idea.
By Android application fundamentals, you do not 'quit' your app. You send it to the background and let the OS handle clearing the memory when it is needed. You waste more battery force killing your apps rather than letting Android do so when the memory needs to be claimed by something else. (This is an interesting topic if you read up on it, the more you know)

The game is entirely inactive in the background and presents no notifications so there is no purpose in a 'quit' button. The home button is there for suspending apps.
Natteke
Ah okay, I'm still new to Android devices. However, apps in the background do consume RAM though o.o
lepidopodus
Well, at least exiting to the home screen or terminating the application when hitting back button on the device when you are in the main menu of T-Aiko would be better? Like other applications.

Score system(combo bonus or gogo-time bonus or something?), barlines, gekki-renta or spinner or something like that... More to improve, I guess?

Some issues I've met until now.(I'm using Samsung Galaxy S2 and I don't have SD card.):
- The application got error when trying to read files in songs folder with USB storage mode enabled.
- Some songs got duplicated when refreshing after modifying the song folder manually.
- Removed songs never got removed in the song list after ^ happens. Currently my db is screwed up.
- No lead-in, and this bothers me quite a lot in some maps.
- Significant delay between hitting the Taiko and acutal effect of it. (This is a rhythm game, you know.)

Well, that delay (or lag, whatever you call it) issue is quite annoying. Can't play somewhat hard maps due to that. Offset settings were ok when I check auto-play. (I also have an iPad with Taiko no Tatsujin for iOS installed and I know even that app have slight delay, but not that significantly affects gameplay. Can FC even some maps with high note-density like Kurenai with that thing.)

I think I've experienced multi-touch issue too. Maybe due to small screen and relatively small taiko drum.

...Yeah, still lot more to go, but at least this may be a good application for playing Taiko in Android before Namco notices it lol.

BOY this turned out to be a long post, sorry

Apps in the background hold RAM, but It's up to android to clean them out when that memory is needed. Background apps have much less priority over foreground ones.

Hmmm, I'm considering this now that everyone seems to keep asking, the back button from the menu screen, I was against it though... I'm not sure.

lepidopodus wrote:

Of course, this will be coming, the current score system is just a barebones one.

- The application got error when trying to read files in songs folder with USB storage mode enabled.
Thanks, I'll fix this, I got a market error report of something similar too. (My mistake)

- Some songs got duplicated when refreshing after modifying the song folder manually.
- Removed songs never got removed in the song list after ^ happens. Currently my db is screwed up.
I'm aware of this too and need to make improvements to the songDB. In the mean-time, if you go to Settings>Apps>T-Aiko and Clear Cache this will clear the song database and you can refresh to create it from scratch (doesn't take that long)

- No lead-in, and this bothers me quite a lot in some maps.
Also on the todo list

- Significant delay between hitting the Taiko and acutal effect of it. (This is a rhythm game, you know.)
I don't appreciate being told it's a rhythm game, I wouldn't spend $25 shoving out some garbage that didn't play well to the best of my knowledge.

However, what kind of timescale do you think this delay is, is it visually noticeable? Is there a delay between you touching the screen and the drum appearing to have moved down?
There is no noticeable delay on my less powerful Nexus S and it has been tested on another Galaxy SII as well.

I think I've experienced multi-touch issue too. Maybe due to small screen and relatively small taiko drum.
I highly doubt this is happening on the SII,

...Yeah, still lot more to go, but at least this may be a good application for playing Taiko in Android before Namco notices it lol.
Thanks, there's further to go and I'm here to do just that <:
There are apps that directly infringe copyrights on the Market, I doubt much will be done against one who's gameplay is similar to another.
maay
would you mind uploading the latest .apk somewhere for me? I can't really get it from the market for now...

also thank you for your hard work

Thankyou for your support ;_; <3

Here's the APK: http://puu.sh/9Ii0
lepidopodus
@Guy-kun: Quite subtle to say about delay since it is just a miliseconds scale,(hard to notice expect a few experienced players, I guess.) but I sometimes find myself tapping the taiko twice since the note didn't disappeard that quickly like I assumed. (yeah hitting Taiko became something like a reflex to me unless it's a complex stream, lol.)

I mentioned about multi-touch issue but I don't think it's a real issue, so nevermind :D

EDIT: Uh, do we have some misunderstandings about the word 'rhythm game', or just I mistranslated the word you said? I mean, one of genre of games, synonym of music games, like osu!, TnT, etc., not a bad word or something.

Guy-kun
Hmmmm, I'd say I'm pretty adept at Taiko and I can't feel anything off, but of course I can't test with your device nor can you test with mine.
Can you try a map I can definitely say is perfectly playable to see if there could be a difference in device performance?
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/13628 : Taiko difficulty is 100% playable and enjoyable

Either way, of course I'll be optimizing the performance.

P.S. I understand what Rhythm Game means, I just didn't like to be patronized as if I didn't understand what's important in a rhythm game.

I'm -actually- in a situation now where I could do with a few testers. Is anyone interested?
I want to test a new version with quite a lot of new things before a market update

I can do it, but I've a HTC so the touchscreen's quite shitty :/

Ill test for you.

Well...? Played my TaikOsu maps on T-Aiko! and it shows like slider slider and more slider orz
[I think that read osu file's slider element as just slider, not converted thing ;___;]

I don't know how its algorithm is going on osu!Taiko but I think it would be improved ;___;
:3
Topic Starter

Dont worry, itll only get better. There is no slider>beats conversion yet but it will be coming.
A certain peppy has beeen dutifully messaged.

I hope to get maps looking exactly as they do in osu <:

but how about introduce score multipiler system?

Coming next version, already being tested <:

Although i dont know the actual scoring algorithm... so its a temporary one.

Glad to hear it working well!
Roga-don
You should rather use the taiko no tatsujin official scoring algorithm than the taiko osu! one (wich is slightly different) :)
Topic Starter
Guy-kun
There wouldn't be much to gain from doing that though. If anything it only subtracts the ability to compare scores to osu! scores.

Change 300 and 100 by the equivalents of Ryou and Ka.

(Or Excellent/Great - Great-Good)

Unless you still want to keep it like this to conserve the osu!tenticity.

And try to put more screenshots atm like for auto and stuff.

(For the osu! scoring system, it looks simpler than the original taiko system... Taiko system looks like it has the n-stars counted, the difficulty, the score cap-like thing too... I know by heart (I think) the scores you can earn, on most maps : 940 and 1100. 1260 is quite rare.)
Yunacat
I know you people haven't seen me around much, I still exist! I just haven't been on the actual game much.

I found this while mobile and added it to my phone and got it to pull from the osu!droid folder for music (thanks for that, omg) I have a few things I noticed and a few suggestions! /o/

First thing, I'm playing this on a Sony Xperia Play (aka Playstation Phone)

Issues:
> When playing with the drum, I feel like there are "dead spots" when it comes to pressing the keys, particularly around the top of the drum itself, and the lower part of the rim. Not sure why...
> When playing any song, if I hit the notes faster than 1/4 there's lag in the presses. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just wont do anything. It's really difficult to explain, but... I also noticed that if you use only one side, you have a better chance at it reading than if you "roll" from side to side like you really should be doing.
> It crashes. Frequently. (You probably are well aware of this though)
> When I started playing, I could tell it was off. I went to offset and it was default 70. I set it back to 0, and it worked perfectly fine (I used auto to listen to it to make sure it sounded right just in case). I have no idea why default was 70. Is it just how it is, or did it "guess" that from my phone?
> I feel calibration is off in the game menus. I have to hit all over the place just to hit the >Return button, and it takes me about 5~10 presses to enter a song...

Suggestions:
> Setting songs to alphabetic order rather than download order.
> Adding a search function (I have a ton of songs and its a lot to go through)
> I love love love the blue theme, but I think the results screen could use a little more color, or at least shading to make it stand out a bit more.
> A switch to hide songs that don't have "taiko only" modes (I realize this would hide taikosu too, but im not sure how to "add" taikosu to the list of "taiko only")
> Support for custom skins (I love TnT but I love the custom skins more)
> In game menu activated by the "menu" button like osu!droid has, basically it lets you pause, retry, continue playing, or exit back to the menu.
> Slightly bigger bars for the song listing. I'll admit my phone's screen is pretty big, but the bars still show up as small and my thumb is bigger than the bars...

For the future:
> Maybe add support for the physical keys on Xperia Play (making the key settings match Taiko PS A/B/C). If I could handle the code for this, I'd do it myself...
> Custom hitsounds+special drum. Kinda like in the TnT games where you could earn special drums (and in Youkai Daikessen they were similar to weapons in RPGs) but instead you could just choose between the drums. I miss my frying-pan drum! ;o;/
> Mods: like double time, hard rock, hidden, flashlight, etc

Ok I'ma cut this off here so I can go sleep. If I think of anything else, I'll add it in later! /o/

PS: If I had more time, I'd offer to test it, but idk if I have the time to right now with work/life/holidays/bleh

It does work on tablets, but isn't optimized at the moment (so it is limited in resolution to stop in looking broken), I hope to change this in the future.
The scoring I think I'll keep like osu! for now, but thanks for the suggestion, and scoring I am hoping to get sorted, I know the osu! style is simpler but I'd rather know the specifics <:

Yunacat wrote:

This can't be anything to do with the game code unfortunately, the detection allows touches anywhere below (not sure where it is, possibly the top of the drum) extending the whole width of the screen. SO any dead spots can only really be your imagination or hardware.

Again, if you're using the latest version(1.1), this is most likely a hardware limitation. If i can get hold of a camera I'll record that rapid touches and good performance are possible.

> It crashes. Frequently. (You probably are well aware of this though)
I'm not actually, I had the idea that it was very stable and I'm not getting any error reports on the market, but this may be a false silence then. I actually don't get any crashes.
When you do, can you please send error reports (when android asks you to), it's invaluably helpful. Putting your nick in the comments is also great for getting back to you, or if you're feeling super bored type in a word or two about what happened/when/how.[/quote]

This I can understand. Android MediaPlayer is horrible for rhythm games when it starts playing, it often induces a small offset that you can't predict and reports incorrect positions in the song. I've introduced a few quirks to try and stabilize the offset and it's semi-reliable.
The offset however is device specific. It's good to know your device needs 0, means it is more stable, my Nexus S and a number of other devices need 70 though. I think the Nexus one works well with 50.
Until I put in quite a bit of work for native audio playback/decoding as Pesets has done, this may be an issue for some devices/maps.
(If pesets let me use his native playback code this could be done in no time <: , but as if...)

> I feel calibration is off in the game menus. I have to hit all over the place just to hit the >Return button, and it takes me about 5~10 presses to enter a song...
Is this just the return button? I've heard people say things about the return button but never experienced it myself...

Suggestions:
> Setting songs to alphabetic order rather than download order.
> Adding a search function (I have a ton of songs and its a lot to go through)
Planned and planned (first one sooner)

> I love love love the blue theme, but I think the results screen could use a little more color, or at least shading to make it stand out a bit more.
Thanks, this was on my mind too, I'll take a look

> A switch to hide songs that don't have "taiko only" modes (I realize this would hide taikosu too, but im not sure how to "add" taikosu to the list of "taiko only")
This is a good idea, I'll put it on the list <:

> Support for custom skins (I love TnT but I love the custom skins more)
I actually have the functionality for this but it's half-complete and brings a headache for resolution support (remember devices range from around 200x400 up to 1280x800) I'll put it low on the list

> In game menu activated by the "menu" button like osu!droid has, basically it lets you pause, retry, continue playing, or exit back to the menu.
Plaaaaaned

> Slightly bigger bars for the song listing. I'll admit my phone's screen is pretty big, but the bars still show up as small and my thumb is bigger than the bars...
Are you sure? Do you have trouble pressing them? I understand they're small, but that's to fit more on-screen,

For the future:
> Maybe add support for the physical keys on Xperia Play (making the key settings match Taiko PS A/B/C). If I could handle the code for this, I'd do it myself...
I can take a look, on the list it goes <:

Maybe, maybe, I was thinking about the future for an experience/leveling/unlocking system, but this is obviously getting way ahead, thanks though

> Mods: like double time, hard rock, hidden, flashlight, etc
Of course, give it time, quite low priority

Ok I'ma cut this off here so I can go sleep. If I think of anything else, I'll add it in later! /o/
Thanks very much, all of this is greatly appreciated!

One more question on the app,

It seems that on the main screen of T-Aiko, the back button of the device seems do not function anyway.
Or it is just undefined on that screen?

I actually stopped the back button doing anything on the main menu, but I guess I'll restore that, waaay too many people are fussing over it.

For the latest version on android market., after I change the target directory to osu!droid one, then the app will be easily crashed.
And it seems the app cannot direct process for 12X maps in one time, it freezed on about 2X maps only.

All the map on my phone are ranked map from DDL server used by osu!droid.
I have sent few crash reports already, but sometimes the problem caused the app forced close and I could not send any crash reports.

Did i miss something? Because, my "get songs" button is grey..
Topic Starter

DDL is quite demanding, and not something I can provide or have an arrangement for yet.
Don't get your hopes up too much from the beta which was private.

alexchan420:
Thanks, I got them reports but they aren't very useful unfortunately, I'll have to make some debugging improvements for next version, until then, I'd recommend not importing more than 10 or so maps just to be safe. Things should work this way.
alexchan420
Sadly that I just set the directory to osu!droid one, I could not control the app to only import 10 maps in a time.
For more, now it seems after I played a map once, if I tried to start another one, it crashed and force close.
I don't even know what's happening.

Further information for your reference:(don't know whether you got from the crash report or not)

I will try certainly.

I just give those map id to you

updated to the latest available version on android market.
The problem that after I played one map, coming to another will crash seems solved, later I will try more.
But as I try to click the refresh button on the song list, the app still cannot recognize all the songs in the folders.
At the moment, I do not meet any crash problem in the new build.

hi,

sorry for the late reply. So I tried about 30 maps on my Xperia neo (1GHz, 512 ram, 2.3). All of them worked fine, except for this one: http://osu.ppy.sh/s/9840
it makes the app crash for some reason...
P.S: I tested the app with the .apk you gave me about a week ago, maybe you already fixed whatever was causing the crash? I'll download the latest apk and try again later

What do you mean? Take a screenshot if anything.
I just pushed v1.2b

when I first press in the advanced option page

after I try to slide on this page

actually at this moment the middle part are all with white background, but I can't cap the view of that moment, when I cap, it will become something like this

Edit:
After I update to 1.2b, the problem still exists.
alexchan420
And one more thing, as I knew from the forum in Hong Kong, there are some comments from the users of them.

Galaxy Note played this app got all the images off from the position they should be.(Should be the one as the official one, Android 2.3.5/2.3.6, I forgot which is the actual version it got)

LG Optimus Black, Motorola Defy got lagging, no matter they have ticked the phone is old option or not.(Unknown version of Android)

Dell Streak 5 got force close problem.(Android 2.2.2)

They are now what I heard from some local users.

Edit:
Some users asked that whether there will be settings for android phones with keyboard/the certain buttons(like volume up/volume down/snapshot button for camera) to set as hit button of the taiko as some GBA emulators on android.

Edit 2:
I have one more comment.
For the song list, will there be proper order of the map listing out its available difficulty of map.
As now those maps list out with different orders, like this

They are not in the order from easy > normal > hard > insane.

If the difficulty are named just as easy, normal, they are not so inconvenient.

However, for the map like this,

The difficulties are named unique, users can hardly know it.

Can the difficulties like osu!droid order it from easy to difficult, no matter how the difficulties are named?

I understand it required much work. Thank you for your hard work sincerely.

Direct Download of songs is coming soon! (already implemented)
Meanwhile, you can download songs(beatmaps) from http://osu.ppy.sh/ and place them on your SD-card in /T-aiko/Songs
(place .osz files here or beatmap directories)
Tablets are currently not optimized.
Yuzeyun
Though they're not optimized, can we put maps in the tablet's memory ? Since I highly doubt my 8GB SD card will handle my 80 own maps.
Cho_old
Tip for the DDL not working, just point the T-aiko song location to your osu! droid songs folder, this is ofcourse assuming you play both. So whenever you download through osu! droid you can play it in both. I'll probably keep doing this even once DDL works because I imagine having them share songs will be easier.
Topic Starter
Guy-kun
@Gezo You can make your beatmap folder wherever you like, just specify it in settings. I wouldn't know what the path to your internal storage on your tablet is though.

Also, You can fit at least 100 maps within 1GB, so not sure what you're worrying about there

However, I can give you badly signed apks that you'll have to uninstall the market version to use.

The good news:
Alex, can you try this new version, I might've fixed the advanced menu bug, but I'm not sure since I can't reproduce it. (It's to do with your phone's OEM themes)
I've also added proper difficulty sorting, like asked <:

I've also added proper difficulty sorting, like asked <:
http://puu.sh/avYa

[P.S. tell me how running the new version goes, it should automatically re-process songs when you select play, if it does anything crazy, let me know]
everything is off sync, D:

Have you set your global offset to 0 since the native player got implemented and made default?
alexchan420
The latest version has the default setting will off sync, as global offset is initially set to 0, but not the original market release as 70. If I changed the offset back to 70, then it should be fine.

Menu bug is still not solved. Difficulty sorting worked fine. But it seems that the database got the songs missing problem as I previously reported and solved in the market release.

Edit 1: Checked only Momo no Hanabira(id=720) and Love So Sweet(id=1976) got missing, sakuranbo is fine.

/sigh okay.
In advanced settings, is native player enabled? (Its the only checkbox in there).
If you uninstalled to install this test version, your settings wohld have been reset and the new default offset is 0, which is correct for the native player.

It is checked already.

Hmmmm.... Did you ever change your offset to 0 during market updates like I recommended ?
alexchan420
As for updating to the latest market updates, I just kept all the setting as before, that is global offset with 70.

Then I uninstall the market release, and install the apk you provide, but it seems the global offset goes to 0, and it is a little bit off sync. And then I changed back to 70, and it seems fine.

Edit 1: Uhhh... Now I changed back to 0, and it seems fine now. @@
Maybe I just feel it wrong..

Guy-kun
You better be wrong >:
The Native player should not need any offset at all, hence the default setting is now 0.
As for maps disappearing again, it's probably my difficulty algorithm, I'll take a look later. And shame about that theme thing... I guess I'll try something else.

Guy-kun
Here you go: http://puu.sh/ayPS (Thanks as always for testing)
Fixed the maps having disappeared, (I'll make a dialog to show maps that failed to load in the future, to save time with this stuff)

Also the theme bug should be fixed with a workaround, It's actually an android bug funnily enough: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4611 (If you're interested)

There's a new animation added at the end of songs too I believe
alexchan420
The theme bug in advanced options is done, at least the words on it is originally seen.
But in the entry of options, the words on the black bar still hard to be seen, like I previously reported.
There should be "mode", Gameplay", "Audio", "Advanced" on the bars from up to down.

alexchan420 wrote:

The disappeared maps returned. New animation at the end of songs is good, it goes more natural.

But sometimes when I am leaving the app in the main menu using back button, sometimes it got hang up and need to force close it, and it is also seen in the previous apk. It is only occasionally happened.

New feature request:
Skip button as the PC ver. osu! in order to skip the prelude of the songs, right going to the start of the tapping the taiko.

Bug:
Some songs having the beats too fast to be hit. (I will give the certain map as example later, after I find that map in the collection inside my phone again)

Glad the theme bug is sorted in settings, I can't do anything about the labels though sorry, that's your phone theme's fault. I don't set the colours of the labels, I only set the theme to device default.

I know about the FC on pressing back from the main menu, but it should be -absolutely- fixed now in the latest apk I gave you, it still happening in the absolute latest?

Skip- sure, I'll put it back to the top of my priorities.

To be honest, some songs are too fast to be hit in osu! too due to slider velocities and T-Aiko has speeds similar to osu!, but do point out any, and I can take a look.

On another note, more and more 1 star reviews from Koreans that can't read how to add maps! wooo~
alexchan420
I think in the description of the app, just write the DDL of songs is coming soon is already done, I think they will treat already implemented as it is available already.

And more, maybe just put a link in the description of the app pointing to this thread. Just provide a way for them to see what's going on. I don't think that after they entered to osu.ppy.sh, they will know where the something else about T-Aiko! is placed.

I do think if there is DDL of beatmaps, the 1 star comments would be greatly reduced.

P.S. I cannot read Korean and also Japanese (not totally, I could only read few Japanese only).

btw why android market just put different languages' comment separately, it's hard for users reading for the comments. =[
alexchan420
For the latest one, I tried once for the app hang up and force close.
The situation was as I have mentioned.
Topic Starter
Guy-kun
Okay about the force close, I'll take a look.

I've updated the market description since this 1 star thing is getting worse due to ignorance, I can't really link them here as the thread isn't very clear.
As for DDL, Nanashirei can't host osu!droid so asking for DDL there is out of the question at the moment and I can't materialize a server out of nowhere...
alexchan420
I remember there should not only a member offering providing the DDL server for osu!droid before, as I memorized that there's another member offered this to Pesets before.
Maybe the one could offer this too.

Edit:
Actually I think most of the Android phone users, so-called smartphone users, are not smart enough.
Most of them do not pay time on reading the description thoroughly. So please don't be disappointed with the 1 star comments. After editing the description of the app as DDL is not available at the moment, with providing ways to get the map in the description, I do think you really did a great job already.

I do not really think the one saying no map available and giving one star is smart. XD They do not even read.
I tried to watch the comment in japanese and korean, using the translation by Google. (Of course, I don't know korean XD)
Korean one should talk about no map available for playing, and Japanese one talking about some bugs and rooms for improvement. Btw, it seems US and JP users are much willing to pay time on reading something related, and do not easily give out the 1 star comment.

As I observed, recently osu!droid got quite a many 1 star comment, at least in Chinese as the DDL server is down.
They don't really care what the developer are doing. They are just caring for their playing. I can be sure that none of the users giving out 1 star comment really reads what the developer / server provider said in the development forum.

Oh? I didn't know of any other mirrors except nanashirei and the Korean one which is now down.
I mean, I could get hosting to do it, but I just don't have the time to set up/maintain a mirror alongside working on T-Aiko!
I do plan on having account/online features eventually too though.

Yeah, I've google-translated some of the comments too, it's just got to an annoying stage where I'm now below 4 stars :c

If you ever want to look at the comments across all languages, give me a shout, there's not many that you haven't mentioned, but I get to see them all in one place.

Spent an eternity getting skip to work reliably...
Why must Android Audio API suck so badly?
(Skip is only available for native player, you just REALLY can't do it properly with MediaPlayer)

The main drum won't move any more (for now, I changed it to improve performance), sliders disappearing early are fixed and being able to hit big notes way before a big note is also fixed.

Quitting main menu REALLY shouldn't crash. Tell me if it does.
http://puu.sh/aEOj
alexchan420
1. Performance
Now the lagging in rapid tapping is better. In the latest apk, upon rapid tapping(4 fingers quickly tapping, my phone supports up to 4 fingers multi touch), the obvious lagging on my phone is relieved. In the previous version, it was quite serious. But for the move of the drum, I think reserving for the users' choice will be better. Maybe for my phone is older, it is on. But for not ticking that option, it could be disabled. Or make a extra option for toggling this option.

2. Skip button
The skip button seems working fine. Till the moment, no malfunctioning of this function is found.

3. Song List might got disappeared upon certain condition (Minor)
Situation:
I got the problem, when I choose the song Sakuranbo made by Rolled, I tried to slide to the first of the song list. Upon the animation of song list was playing(a little bit going right of the screen), I tapped the left hand side blank area (just with the beatmap background), the song list may get disappeared. But after one more slide/tap motion, it will come back.

Further try to reproduce: When I choose Sakuranbo made by S i R i R u, repeating the situation above mentioned. It can also be reproduced. Till the moment, I cannot try to reproduce the phenomenon with every map.

Screencap:

Normal One

One situation:

half of the song list shrunk into the right hand side.

For the whole disappeared

4. Song List (Minor)
Upon choosing Ikimono Gakari - Kimagure Romantic, the background pic is not in the aspect ratio of the screen. The right bottom corner of black area may keep blinking with the song list tabs remained there.
Screencap:

the right bottom corner got certain maps tab remaining in the blank area and blinking upon browsing through the song list.

5. The fast appearing beat problem
Till the moment I cannot find which map I meet this problem. But I tried to check it through(but only one map for one or two difficulties, not all). It seems no maps got this problem. For this problem, maybe just closed for this problem. I can't really remember what map I have played that time.

6.Force close when using back exiting the app
It occured at the first time I start up of the app right after the installation.
I just played once and then directly back to main menu and back to quit app.
If I don't remember it incorrectly, it should be Arashi - Everything made by al2e10, normal difficulty.
But only once, I tried few other start ups of the app, and played other maps. It cannot be reproduce at the moment. And for this apk, and the previous apk, they only hanged up at the first start up after installing the apk.

I'll reply to your points properly a bit later, off-topic, but I wish I could speak Korean, this guy keeps emailing me in bad English and not listening to any replies :l

I bet you need to find someone really know Korean to help you. XD
btw, I hope I could learn more Japanese next year, if I can handle the other core courses.

Finally, some nicer reviews ;_;

As to your points alex:
The drum movement isn't what's improving performance, it's me having redone the drum <: So next version I'll have it moving again with the same better performance. Great news that it's crossed your responsiveness threshold!

As for the song select, be gentle with it <: I know it on can disappear, but doesn't really unless you're using more than one finger and doing strange stuff (If I see it happen, I'll fix it, but it doesn't happen much at all and doesn't cause any problems)

4) I'll fix this, I thought you'd never notice <;

5) Cool, maps like SABER WING are -really- fast, but they are similarly fast in osu! due to the slider velocity.

6)Thaaanks, I'll try to reproduce.

I guess you completly forgot me? lol

EDIT: Ok some guys in Korean Taiko no Tatsujin community are posting about freezing in T-aiko!, I guess he is one of them? lol.

(Korean android market is 2nd largest, (1st is USA) you should get them, I guess? lol)
Topic Starter
Guy-kun
Yeah, after 6 pages of this thread I kinda forgot, whoops.
No, he keeps complaining about input delay which nothing can be done about (for now)

What I'm working on:
Massive re-write of the whole in-game rendering system. Moving to an optimized OpenGL-based graphics library which will result in x1million better performance (Actual results may vary)
Coming... Sometime... I won't update/fix anything else until I get this up to scratch, but after this the game will run SILKY, and I mean SILKY smooth!
alexchan420
As a piece of news release few days ago, it stated that from the statistics,
downloaded apps ranking in regions:
1. Korea
2. Hong Kong
3. Taiwan
4. US

Ahhh,I should make it clearer
I want to say that in the number of download of apps in terms of regions, Korea is in the first. But US is in the
4th place. So it seems that paying more time listening to Korean and Chinese comments would help much for
The review.

Sorry for typing badly this post. Replying many words on phone still is a nightmare.lol

12+ Hours of coding over 1 1/2 days and T-Aiko! is almost back up and running with openGl rendering! Most game-play is back and working all fresh and new, some to finish though.
(Man do I need to catch up on sleep)

Input has pretty much -no- delay now. For my device anyway, there is never any lag with input. <: And this is without any real fine-tuning/optimization.
alexchan420
That's great. And as I knew your device is Nexus S. If the app could support devices using at least TI OMAP 3650 devices, or saying the PowerVR SGX530, I think it's pretty enough. Of course, if it could also be run well on Nexus One, then it seems more devices should be OK.

You really need sleep. Don't make yourself being sick and have to bear with the sickness to have your Christmas. =]
Topic Starter
Guy-kun
The only limitation I now have is the device needs to support openGL2.0 (1, it's more optimized and 2, I'm too lazy to re-do all my resources and down-scale them from POTs(powers of two))

The PowerVR SGX530 and Nexus One does support openGL 2.0, and Google report that 90% of active android devices support openGL2.0
Here: http://developer.android.com/resources/ ... pengl.html

So all is well and the performance boost will carry across to pretty much all phones.

Yeah, I plan on catching up on sleep now and getting the rest of this move done in my spare time <: Thanks~
alexchan420
As I knew, Nexus S has started the update of ICS.
Maybe you need to take some time on handling the new version. =]
alexchan420
Problem report from other users:
Device: LG P970
Android version: 2.2, stock v10b from LG, rooted
Affected version: market release v1.2b, the latest apk http://puu.sh/aEOj
Problem: for all beatmap, upon rapid tapping of taiko, the app is still running but the touch monitor will have no response. Later on the app force close.
Topic Starter
Guy-kun
I can't really do much except for ask them to send the crash report, can you get him to put something in the description? to write "lgp970" in the error report description.

Also, I'm aware that it crashes on the official ICS release (pushed yesterday for the Nexus S), I'll have a fix up soon.
>I have my Keys back (travelled back to my accommodation) so I can publish updates over christmas <:
alexchan420
I guess he tried to send crash reports before. But I guess he or she didn't write anything in the comment.
I will try to ask him to try once more in market release and send the crash report with the comment you mentioned.

Edit: typo in wording =[

Thanks, It might have fallen under an old report somewhere, but fi one is submitted with a comment, I'll hunt it down

just wondering, why do older devices need textures with dimensions that are POT? because i've noticed the necessity on PC as well with older graphics cards when using opengl
Topic Starter
Guy-kun
OpenGL 1.0 only supports POT textures, so anything limited to only supporting 1.0 is limited by that.

Finally pushed an update with the new stuff and some fixes (including an ICS fix)
