Hello to the osu! community! I have something I would like to ask:

I played osu! today at around 10 AM and realized this at 11:


I searched this spectator, who is an osu! member, just like I thought.

Is this a new feature of osu!? This is, after all, the first time that I saw that pop up! It also got me nervous during gameplay because I wondered if the spectator was watching me (I was doing poorly at that time lol).

My question is, under what circumstances will this pop up? That is, exactly what will the spectator (someone else or myself) be doing for me (or anyone else) to see this section pop up?

Plus, being spectated is good,...right? :?

I would also like to say hi to the person who spectated me! (I think s/he was spectating me, though lol)

Not new, you just haven't been watched by people.

Whenever someone chooses to watch you play, you'll see it unless you disable it in options. They will still watch you play as all you can do is disable the spectators list from showing.

Nice skin choice, by the way. =]

You can spectate people yourself. You'll see how things work if you do that. Click their name in the player list and hit spectate.

Thanks! After all, I am testing out the updates (not official though, I suppose) for the ouendan2 skin.



So I was spectating SoriasSire, and I was amazed at what the spectating function can do!

Now that I think about it, I just totally embarrassed myself in front of a526412351... :)
I knew that I could have done better...I guess I was frustrated that I kept losing my combos somewhere in the song.

I wouldn't disable it, even if it is possible. It's such a great feature. Anyways, thanks, Mystearica and strager, for replying! =)

Now I wonder what are the chances someone else will spectate me? I'm not that well known, but I welcome anyone to look at me play! (Hope I do well, too!)

Really, it's partly on luck if people will spectate you. If people know you're playing though they might want to watch (typing /np in chat shows what you're playing; just don't abuse it). Obviously, high ranking players tend to get more spectators because everyone knows them and is interested in seeing them play.

Another good way to get spectators is to have a username that stands out at the top of the alphabetical online players list.

How to get spectators:

1. Play Bad Apple!!
2. ???
3. I can't figure why this would result in any sort of profit, so there's no step 3 either.

Yeah, I know. Since I am far from being like the skilled players, people spectating me or watching my replays partly comes from pure luck. I get S from some of them, and when I know that I can do better, I reward myself with the SS. But I rarely use mods except HardRock, so some of them are just off the charts.

What's "Bad Apple", by the way? A new innovation in the osu! community? :?

And how exactly do you do that? Didn't you just say "alphabetical online players list"? My username can't stand out if it's closer to Z than A! =P

Have a cute girl avatar (has to be IRL girl and not a professional shot)
Also, lower rank helps too.

Mix all those 3 and you'll get spectated 24/7

I remember the old spectator parties where we would get like 20 people on Saturos or something. Basically, it just sends a replay of what you've done so far to the receiver. If you're a bit behind them you can even speed up the replay to get as close to real time as you can!

Most spectators I've had is around 16, while I was playing Lesjuhs original Made of fire map (as in, the one that was called ROFLMAOXDXDXD)

Even I would break down before I even achieve a 50x combo on this beatmap! =D

Whoops! Didn't see that it was approved!
But I thought it was ranked because that 20,000,000-high-score Bad Apple beatmap appeared even though I clicked "Ranked Beatmaps" on the bar up there... :P

Derp, Bad Apple is ranked. Starrodkirby says to check out approved maps, those have VERY high scores.
